We are a family with 6 children: 12,10,8, 5,3 and 1. Our children go to a Rudolf Steiner (Waldorf) school. Stephen works full-time and I work part-time. We are an active family. We eat mostly organic and bio-dynamic food all made at home. With us you can learn to make sourdough bread, yoghurt, saurkraut and other healthy fermented foods.

The help we need is hanging and folding washing, cooking/food preparation, dishes and cleaning. Some housework and odd jobs and child minding. We are moving in a week so will be plenty of chaos too!

We love nature, camping and tramping.

We look forward to a wonderful exchange.

NOTE: we moved from Melbourne to NZ in August 2014 so our first review below was for our old place in Australia.
We have now moved again so we are not rural but close to nature still.

Sorry all, this job has been filled. Best of luck for your job search...

Hi there travelers! We are a fun and caring family of four who are looking for some help on our property in the beautiful area of French Bay which is in Titirangi, Auckland. We have a full separate bach that sleeps 4 that has one bedroom with 1x double bed, full bathroom with shower, kitchenette and lounge with sofa and 2x single beds (no laundry). We would like 2 to 4 woofers to help us clear native palm leaves in our back garden, do some weeding, clear out sheds that have old wood and wires in them and also a little or a lot of painting if you are keen. We can have you 1 to 2 weeks if necessary. Come and enjoy spring by our beautiful and peaceful slice of heaven with bush and beach all around. Look forward to hearing from you!!

We live in a 3-bedroom, 2-bathroom house close to Auckland's CBD, with lovely views towards the city. Quiet street, close to public transport or an easy 25-minute walk to the city centre. Our home and garden are smoke free.

We are looking for helpers who want to stay for one week, with skills and experience in general household cleaning and cooking; gardening or landscaping; exterior painting; handy-work and maintenance; carpentry, building or cabinet making. The work will be done at our home and at our rental properties which are nearby.

Helpers will be expected to make some evening meals during their stay so confidence in the kitchen is important, including making vegetarian food. Our evening meals are healthy and generally either vegetarian or fish/ seafood based. (In summer, sometimes Keith cooks meat on the BBQ outside. We don't cook meat inside the house).

Accommodation (private bedroom with queen size bed, ensuite bathroom and own access to the front garden) an... more inside

Hi travellers,

My name is Brandon and I live in an old 3 bedroom 1920's bungalow in Grey Lynn, Auckland. Grey Lynn is an old leafy and historic suburb near to the CBD (20min walk). The house has a front and back garden which requires some clearing and maintenance, and also some preparing for a vegetable garden and fruit trees.

About me:
I'm a ex-lawyer and now sports consultant originally from Wellington. I'm well traveled and lived in London and Madrid before coming back home in 2012.

What you do:
The two gardens require a range of smallish jobs - weeding, clearing leaves, laying weed mat and bark, spraying/staining of deck and other things. It's not a big property and there are a range of things to do so you won't get bored and nothing is back breaking. It's all relatively straightforward work and doesn't require any previous experience or expertise.

What I can provide:
I can provide a roof over your head, a room to yourself with a Queen size bed and some basic food... more inside

Our property is reasonably small and is quiet and private with a large garden. It's not fancy but a comfortable, warm and welcoming haven where you can be whomever you want to be without criticism or control. It is definitely not a hostel-like environment. In fact my sons and I prefer that you become part of the family during your stay. We enjoy visitors especially those who are truly open to and keen to venture into unconventional lifestyles, the curious and interesting, those looking to open their minds, to challenge their thinking and those who enjoy a tension free environment
We are close to a great beach - Muriwai - and the Woodhill forest park, plus it is not far to Auckland city.We have always have work to do and welcome input from others. Mostly it is gardening (weather dependent!) and some general property maintenance but itís not difficult work especially if you like making things grow. We have travelled widely and always like to hear about what others are doing and think... more inside
