We have a fruit and vegetable market garden in the heart of tranquil Te Kowhai village, which is just 10 minutes outside of Hamilton and is on the route to Raglan. This has always been family run and owned by us - Donald, Maria, and our daughter Jenna who live and work here (as our two older sons have moved away for work and study). We look forward to welcoming open-minded, easy-going guests who are keen for a new experience and don't mind working hard.

We have been operating the farm for over 50 years and sell our produce both at our own store (also on the farm) and to the wholesale market and a farmer's market in Hamilton. Our store also sells produce sourced from the wholesale market. Produce grown on our farm includes strawberries, watermelon, sweetcorn, beans, peas, spinach, beetroot, radish, herbs, a variety of Asian vegetables, as well as some popular traditional Maori vegetables.

Currently, a lot of our time is spent on strawberries. The main job for helpers... more inside

Some of the jobs that need doing are:-
Digging out and replacing of stable bedding
Cleaning chook houses out
Veggie gardening/weeding
General gardening (lots more weeding!)
Lawn mowing
Help with fencing/paddock maintenance
Animal care

We have a small menagerie including 3 horses, 7 sheep, 10 lambs, a dog, 2 cats and loads of chooks. You need to be an animal lover!

Please get in touch if you think you could help.

Hi there.

This is house in a dairy farm area, I've just move here and are very busy during the day and in need of people that can help me on maintaining the garden, lawn and the house. Working hours are flexible.

The location is quite close to Te Aroha town (5KM) and at the town area there are hot water spa pools, tramping and mountain bike tracks.

It is only 20 min drive to Matamata (Hobbiton) and 50 min drive to Hamilton.

There is a car that can be use for travelling around the area if you din't have a transport.

If you are a smoker you can't smoke inside the house (rule that been set by the house owner) but you can still smoke outside (sorry)

This is a sheep and beef farm and we are a family with two small children (aged 7 yrs and 4 years). Whilst this is a beautiful farm with native bush and streams there is a lot of tidying up to do on the buildings and gardens. Jobs here would include painting, gardening, weeding, cleaning, spraying, clearing up. Help on farm may also be required including assisting with fencing and stock work.

In return for your 3-4hrs work per day (or the equivalent of) we can provide a self contained one bedroom cottage(queen bed), Telecom cell phone reception, access to broadband internet (for checking emails etc only), and we provide lunch on the days you work. Your own Car is recommended as we live 40 mins from our nearest town and are only in town once a week.

Length of stay - we would prefer one to two weeks but if everything is working out we could extend this by mutual arrangement.

We are very central to various town centres eg, we are about an hour from Taupo, 50 mins from Wait... more inside

We have just moved to a cottage in the countryside and are still setting up the garden. Are aim is to live off the land as much as we can.
We are working towards growing our own food forest and need a little bit of help every now and then with gardening jobs, woodchopping and section clearing, these jobs would take no more than a few days.

Our lifestyle block has chickens, ducks, a couple of pigs and two dogs.

We can provide healthy home cooked meals, and a cozy cottage bedroom.

We currently need help with:

The garden - an ability to use a ride on mower and a strimmer/weed whacker is preferable, sew seeds, weed, plant, move the horse manure, brush the paths/driveway, tidy...

Electrician - a small job in the kitchen

Tradesman who is capable of sanding, fixing walls. Painting. Heavy lifting.

Someone who can cook and is happy to clean and iron.

We only have room for 1 person at the moment. You need to be clean and tidy please and have the ability to work unsupervised.

So...

Do you have as many arms as an octopus, the strength of an ox, the intelligence of a dolphin, and a heart of a giraffe? Do you love being around animals and doing laundry? If so, this is the perfect gig for you!

We are a family of 3 living in rural Hamilton with 2 horses, 14 chickens, 9 cats and 2 dogs. I have an organic vegetable garden and an organic orchard.

Are you a self-starter that loves to think for yourself, cook a meal from a simple recipe book, feed... more inside
