We are developing a sustainable enterprise producing high quality sulphur-free dried fruit using solar heat in an innovative dryer that we have invented and developed. We specialise in drying locally produced apples, pears and stone fruit. Our location is the picturesque Adelaide Hills where we can give you the opportunity to experience the Aussie small town lifestyle and a variety of work opportunities. These centre around the drying process and include collecting fruit from local orchardists, preparing it for the dryer and selling at local farmers markets. The dryer is mobile and is used at our base in and on location with the growers. There are also opportunities to contribute to gardening and property maintenance. Work can be consolidated to allow full days off for exploring. We have bikes you can borrow and there is a regular bus service to Adelaide. Accommodation is in our home and we enjoy a varied diet. Vegetarians and other special diets can happily be accommodated an... more inside

The property is in a tucked away valley only 14kms from the centre of Adelaide. It has its own creek that supplies water for the farm and the house all year round. The property was previously a commercial market garden and is currently being restored. There is much to do from dry stone walls, creek restoration, olive and blackberry removal to work on the house and in the garden. There is a cute two bedroomed self contained cottage on the property next to the main house. Working times vary and meals are prepared by the hosts. The garden is surrounded by natural bush covered hills with many koalas living there. The property has been owned by the one family since the 1860s.We enjoy hosting overseas visitors as our own children have travelled widely, we speak a tiny bit of German and French and like to help visitors with their English.

We like you to stay a minimum of 5 nights.

We now have a town-based take-away food shop. You may be offered the opportunity to assist in the shop or on the farm

BEE- KEEPING field work is usually not available in Winter months, but the honey workshop operates.

We offer farm forestry work, poultry yard work and homestead and farm maintenance work.

We are NOT near the major attractions which are on the mid-south coast, and the south western corner of the island, over 110kms from our farm.

We take our helpxers, who stay more than 5 nights, to tourist spots within a 35km radius of our farm. Otherwise, we recommend that you consider starting with hosts to the south and west of the island before coming to our far... more inside

Hi All, im a working mother of 3 and have a full months work coming up in July. My husband works away all week and is home on weekends. I have never used this website before so am unsure how it all works. I have a lovely home on a few acres with farms animals. My 3 children are very adorable. My eldest is at school full time with the middle going to kindy 2-3 times a week. I have a toddler who will be at home all week. I am looking for someone to look after them and keep house tidy whilst im at work. I would prefer female as my children are more comfortable with ladies. The weekends are all yours, we will not require babysitting unless something pops up that we cant take the kids to (pretty unlikely) I am happy to take you site seeing as well.

I would love a hand looking after my awesome 3 kids, a beautiful garden and old homestead on a 1,000,000 acre organic dorper station.

I teach my kids through the school of the air. We live 140km from Port Augusta.

There is a large crew working on this large station and you will not be bored.

The cookie is an exceptional cook and makes fantastic grub.

We are a happy, fun and open family looking forward to having you stay with us!

This would be a never to be forgotten experience you will share with us. We have had great success with backpackers and helpers.
