Hello, Retired architect/amateur painter involved in restoration project SW France, looking for help in the Pyrenees & in Scotland (for the construction of a sauna)to share work & creative leisure for a few weeks in early or late summer 2016.
Our area in France near the river Garonne in the Pyrenean foothills is rich in wildlife, its inheritance of architecture, history, mountaineering and cycling to name but a few.

The house, a traditional, large farmhouse, has been ecologically restored by France, a now-retired architect, combining traditional methods and materials with modern science. Colombage, the old French half-timbered construction, has been adapted for external cladding and internally the walls have been lined with straw, clay and lime, which provide breathability and good insulation. Hot water and heating are partially provided by solar panels.
We are now trying to convert part of one of the outbuildings into a small annexe and a roof of one of the farm buildings ne... more inside

We are looking for helpers from the 28.9. onwards.

Amongst fields and woods, facing the Pyrenees, we welcome one or two motivated person(s) interested in the building of our wooden structured straw bale house as well as our other activities.
At the moment apple juice production and earth plastering for the strawbalehouse.

So motivation, good will and a practical sense are more important than experience in that area.

In spring there is also the work in the greenhouse with sowing and transplanting seedlings that we sell on the market. This is a very nice activity, protected from the wind or the rain which occur quite often these last years in spring. One tiny sparkle of sun transforms the greenhouse in a warm place. We do prepare the garden as well.

In autumn we pick apples and make delicious juice.
We try to sprinkle our activities with moments of meditation.
Our little daughter (born February 2013) is an important part of our daily life .
Long term stay welcome. S... more inside
