Hello....welcome to 'The Castle'

Looking for a little outback adventure away from the hustle and bussle of the city ?

A few years ago we came across and fell in love with a unique dwelling in the middle of nowhere. 'The Castle ' was originally built to be a bed and breakfast. Built from solid concrete by hand by one man over 28 years.
Now it is simply a place we call home were, with some help we are slowly but surely bringing it back to life.

We are looking for helpers who are willing to help out with all sorts of jobs depending what we're up to and the season. Maybe some Painting, cementing, yard work, feeding the animals, cooking, cleaning or cooking

We offer food and accomodation in exchange for 4 hours work a day except Sunday and Monday (or any other weekday you choose)
You will have your own unit with shower and toilet.
The Castle runs on Solar or Generator Power and Rain Water so we are totally off the grid.

We have 2 1/2 dogs, 2 pet geese and wild Ra... more inside

We have a 2 bedroom home located on an acreage property on northern beaches. My husband, Peter and I live here with our 3 house cats. Our property is only 2 minutes on foot from the shopping centre where you can access public transport and it is 1 km away from the beach. We are 25km from Cairns city, approximately 30 minutes by car or 45 minutes by bus. Our nearby suburbs are Palm Cove and Ellis Beach to the north, more tourist orientated and Kewarra Beach to the south, which is more residential.

Our property is one large garden but with an orchard and a vegetable patch included. We have many tasks to complete on our property and mostly are in the garden. Tasks such as pruning, trimming, mowing, replanting our seasonal vegetables are an ongoing project as we try to keep our property maintained all year round. We also have a few residential wallabies living on our property.

Our suburb is quiet and peaceful. We are looking for a single person or couple who would be cat... more inside

We own and run a small lime orchard, 2000+ trees in the fabulous Fraser Coast area.

We are focused on biological / biodynamic farming methods, concentrating on soil health and biology to gain better nutrition levels in the trees and fruit.

We love our two dogs, cat, horses, cows and chooks and when we get time enjoy growing our own veggies and herbs and some fruits.

We are looking for people to stay with us, share stories, cultures and a joke or two (your accommodation will be a two room self contained unit) enjoy meals with us and in exchange join us in doing stuff around the farm (such as picking, pruning, mulching irrigation and helping out with the animals, garden beds, general farm maintenance and tidy up for 4 - 5 hours a day 5 days a week.

Two people traveling together work well for us.

We generally look for 2 week stays with longer stays negotiated once we all get to know each other.

The farm is a no smoking site.

Our property is in the rainforest, 10 Minutes from the village of Kuranda and a 40-Minute drive from the city of Cairns in far north Queensland. A beautiful National Park is nearby, with several good walking tracks. We don't have any farm animals on the block, but have lots of beautiful birds and butterflies, also forest creatures like goannas, bush turkeys, wallabies and cassowaries.

We would like some helping hands (preferably a couple) for gardening, some building maintenance, painting and household chores for short term up to two weeks. Our guest accommodation at the moment consists of a self-contained cottage with double bed, close to our own main house. There is Telstra mobile connection, but we also have a computer and phone in the main house if needed. Please bring closed shoes for outside work.

Hi, We live in the beautiful 'Alpine Tropics' at the southern end of the Atherton Tablelands, FNQ. We have an amazing large netted orchard with over 30 varieties of fruit trees. In season we sell our no spray fruit at the local markets, which is a great day out.
Although farming work is never ending, we love to 'down tools' and show off the natural delights in our piece of paradise. With bushy forest walking trails, many waterfalls to splash in, hot mineral springs to soak up and so many stars to make you dizzy. Wildlife is everywhere to enjoy.
As well as the orchard we have a vegetable garden
to eat from, chickens and ducks who generously provide us with eggs and two cute dogs to play with.
We are a fairly easy going couple with broad interests. We work hard and enjoy people and would love a hand in our orchard.
If you have time and energy to come help us we would love to hear from you. Wendy and Des
