Help needed - very soon if possible - to cut and stack fire-wood ( using up old pine beams, wooden crates, doors, shutters etc) to supplement my central heating logs ready for the winter.
I have an electric log cutter which makes the job easier - NOT a chain saw - and there will be logs to be split and stack as well. Bit of a dusty job but it needs to be done soon before the weather turns. Really good accommodation, double bedroom and own bathroom, good company and good food. Suitable for a couple who want a short stay in a beautiful medieval village in SW France.

This gite in the Ariege Pyrenees is looking for help around the garden and with general renovation work. Set in a stunning mountain valley location, but within easy reach of town with bars and restaurants. The gite has a swimming pool and the area is wonderful for climbing, hill walking/mountaineering, skiing and cycling (also the annual Tour de France cycle race regularly passes close by to here).

We live in a beautiful French farmhouse in the Quercy Blanc countryside. The nearest big towns are Cahors and Villeneuve sur Lot. We need help in the garden - felling fruit trees, hedge pruning, strimming and grass cutting. There are one or two small building tasks needing done also, if anyone has the urge and the skills. The ability to use a chainsaw would be really helpful - we can provide protective clothing, mask and ear defenders, as well as all the necessary tools.

We can offer accommodation for a couple in our gite, (see the photos) which we offer in return for a couple of hours work a day for a couple. Weekends off, and it would give you more independence if you catered for yourselves, though of course all helpers are welcome to join up with us for drinks and chat. We can offer bikes and lifts in to town (nearest shops 7 km)and outings to local places of interest.

We are English, but have lived here for 20 years and both speak fluent French. Christopher speaks fl... more inside

Sorry folks we aren't looking at any help for 2015, well so far anyways. If we do at any point in time we'll update our profile.

We run a tour company based in Alberta, Canada and operating in Aveyron, south west of France. This is a husband-wife operation where Christian (husband) has a full-time career in Canada and Veronique delivers the tours. It's quite unique as the tours are hosted in her house and guided by Veronique.
To know more about Aveyron, what we do, etc. check our website. There are photos, videos, and lots of stories.
Anyhow we're looking for a helper for the month of June 2014 who could provide no more than a couple hours of light housekeeping a day.
In exchange we provide the accommodation (check our website for photos) and the use of our personal car as Veronique is touring our guests with another vehicle.
So, this is a full French immersion in a region where wine, food (Roquefort), history and heritage (Conques, Millau viaduct) are part of daily lives.

Our names are John, Siriluck and Tom our 5 year old son.
We are trying to create a wonderful environment in which to live.
https://vimeo.com/138128782
Our first priority is to build our family home and we're looking for help to build it. The house is well advanced now and we will be doing the internal rendering from 20 July.No special building knowledge needed. (don't worry, I'll be on site and the buck stops with me).
Sometimes there is some work to be done in the wood.
We provide a caravan for accommodation and good food. You will also be sharing our Yurt with us, especially at meal times. We ask 5 hours a day for 5 days every week.
The house, to our knowledge, is the first Cob build in the South of France. It's actually a hybrid with load bearing Straw Bales on the North wall. 50 cm thick cob walls, bioclimatic greenhouse, lime/acacia foundations, natural stone plinth, lime and earth renders, rocket stove, self-build solar panels.
At the time of writing we are busy C... more inside

We are maintaining and renovating a small medieval castle and its garden. We are looking for about 25 hours/week from helpxers with relevant interests/skills.

Having been based in Wales during our working lives, but having travelled widely, we took early retirement, and moved to our present home in the foothills of the Pyrenees, 16 years ago.

We have 2 dogs, 2 cats; the placement would not suit those allergic to/frightened of same.

We love food and drink, and aim to provide a good standard of hospitality. Leanings towards vegetarianism we can take in our stride. Provision of a strictly vegetarian diet is an additional commitment that we can do without at the end of a long working day!

Guests have bedroom(s) with bathroom ensuite. Parts of the house have WiFi. The swimming pool awaits.... at 22-25 C.

Previous HelpX helpers, (including some who came to us before we were registered hosts, when a neighbour was over-subscribed) can provide a reference.

The type of work... more inside

UPDATE: we would love to hear from someone to help us with winterising in the garden, and if possible, with housekeeping or hospitality experience sometimes from Sept.
-----------
Hi, we are Tao & Colin, part Eurasian, part Aussie and a lot of French joie de vivre... oh and bigger than life Jim, our Scots cousin.

In exchange of comfortable lodging and yummy food, we would like to invite mature, independent and practical self starters (with a great sense of humour and a can-do attitude) to help with mainly odds and sods around the home, and in the garden. It is not complicated, what you do is what we do too! Help would be for about 30 hours a week, for 2-3 weeks, longer periods a possibility.

Sardac, our home which runs as a boutique B&B, is very special to us and you would love staying there, with our 3 cats, as part of the family. We also run a small busy restaurant in-house, and so because of our love of cooking and eating, be prepared to bring on a good appetite and b... more inside

My name is Catherine, and I am english living in a very beautiful part of the pyrenees. I bought a near ruin of a farmhouse twelve years and have been renovating it ever since.A labour of love. There is still more to do and I want to extend the garden to make a organic garden to give my children vitamins! Up until now I have being doing alot of work myself alongside my ex husband, but have slowed down a bit with mothering. If you are interested in stonewalling, general decorating work and creating a vegetable garden, it may suit you. Also the surrounding area is very beautiful for walking, nature and skiing in the winter. There is a small bread house across the garden which
would be your bedroom and bathroom so a bit of privacy.
