In March 2015, we moved from a Belgian city life to a smallholding in an idyllic area in the south-east of Burgundy, where we are keeping chickens, bees, sheep, producing organic vegetables and we're experimenting with growing our own cereals.

During the last couple of years, we renovated the house and received lots and lots of helping friends (and friends of friends) and we discovered that we love working with other people, whatever their skills are. Now the house has become cosy and liveable, our attention is moving outwards.

Anyone who is willing to help is more than welcome, especially if you like both outdoor work and to give a hand in the household as well.

You will arrive in a young family (two daughters –Madeleine and Toinette- and a baby boy Josquin) where we love to have fun, to be outside, to produce authentic food and to have a good glass of Burgundy wine with a nice conversation.

Accomodation is modest but good: you can sleep in a tent or in the barn, w... more inside

I have recently decided to fix up a derelict family Chateau which has been left abandoned for way too long (see my blog post) in the hope of eventually creating a well-ness centre etc.

Looking for 2 hardworking individuals to help me restore the Chateau surroundings. Work will include gardening, cleaning and various jobs such as de-gutting drainpipes, tearing down old ceilings amongst various other jobs that I have not yet seen (there is so much to do it is difficult to know where to start).

Any gardening/building experience most appreciated. I myself am extremely hardworking yet lack the knowledge & physical strength to do some manly work thus I would prefer to have 2 men to help with this project however couples or 1 man & 1 woman are also welcome.

Minimum stay of 1 week, maximum stay 1 month in exchange for (mainly) vegetarian meals and board. Work expected is 5 hours per day 5 days a week. Accommodation is basic (mattress on pallets) but clean with room leading onto a... more inside

Presentation of the farm of Visargent:
Our objective could be described as following: To live on a small organic farm of about 20 ha, searching for alternative ways of life going beyond a materialistic level, while at the same time maintaining a social and inspiring life in the countryside. We try to live along with a diversified nature, more respectful and joyful, seeking economic resources in agreement with our ideals.
It has been 32 years, now, that we, that is Josy and Willy, Benjamin, Kasia and Célestin, have had a great diversity of activities together with our friends and family. This has allowed us to develop an autonomous, ecologic, beautiful and social life. We practice mixed farming, which means taking care of our animals, fruit trees, vegetables, and food transformation. Occasionally we also welcome mentally challenged adults on our farm for their holidays.
Our work varies throughout the seasons and depending on the development of our farm:
• Cereals: wheat (flour, ... more inside

Hi, my name is eva, the place I have opened is a cultural coffee-shop,
which is located in Burgundy, a little medieval town on the banks of la Loire.
The shop is a place of exchange, artistic-expression (various workshops, concerts, all kind of knowledge sharing...), and hopefully joy and laughter!
It will also be a place of experimentation on cooking with cocoa beans. I regularly travel to costa rica to collect beans, bring them home and try new recipes to offer authentic flavours.
Although I'd like the kitchen to stay mainly my work space, everybody should feel free to express his talents in the different activities related to the place (for example organising workshops or events, teaching languages, maintaining the place, gardening...). The main idea is that everybody feel helpful, welcome and comfortable!

Volunteers will stay in a dormitory with a private bathroom and will have access to a communal space.

Accommodation is free but a participation based on donation mig... more inside

I live a very nice and charming place with a horse, 4 hens and two cats. There is as well somebody living in a tiny little house next to that place. The house is in a complete bucolic and rural area called le brionnais in south Burgundy in France. There are still many things to discover for curious people for example Old roman churches, castle, animals fair and markets can be visited.
I speak English and a little Spanish . There are many things to do here if you like countryside. Tree size, small masonry work, painting. it's possible as well to ride my horse in rural roads or woods around.
