Lifestyle block, 6km from CBD and waterfront.
(Please note own transport would be useful as there is no public transport to our house.)

We are a family with 3 young children.
We would like help with weeding and odd jobs such as general cleaning and maintenance jobs on property.

We have a large spare bedroom with a Queensize bed and could put up a stretcher as well if necessary.

We live in an idyllic rural setting with distant sea views and views of Mt Taranaki. New Plymouth is a Surfer's Paradise and there is a small fun but challenging club skifield on mt Taranaki.
New Plymouth also has an active arts community and attracts world class Musical performances to the Bowl of Brooklands, a natural amphitheatre in Pukekura Park. There is a fantastic 8km walkway along the waterfront of the town and it has been voted to be the best town of its size to live in the world.

FULLY BOOKED UNTIL 4th JANUARY
Looking for independent active travellers that enjoy the outdoors and are motivated morning people, we start early.

Welcome we love meeting travellers and have travelled extensively ourselves.

Our farm is 23kms/30mins north of New Plymouth at Huirangi. There is no public transport, bikes are available. We don't go in to town often so having your own transport would be an advantage. Though we can pick you up on arrival and drop you back into town when you leave. We enjoy taking you out and about to explore the area and do some hiking too, it will depend on our workload and how long you are staying. Prefer you to stay at least one week.

At the farm we live in a shed (one room) so the accommodation is in our campervan (see photo's). Toilet & hot shower is outside. Though the accommodation is basic, the view is wonderful. It is a beautiful place. We will provide good meals.

We try to be good hosts and in return we expect you to join us in... more inside

I am looking for somebody to live in and pick my two school age children up from school in the afternoon as well as assist with some light house duties. I work during the day. We have a detached bedroom with a toilet and would provide meals. We have two dogs and a cat so must like animals. My girls like being out and about so a drivers license would be good but not essential.
In the photos you can see my two children , our dogs Chipper and Fletcher. Also there is a photo one of our bikes which you would be able to use for a ride along the coast (beach 2 min) or into town (6 min) or whatever you like. We do request a minimum of one week stay as this makes the most of the experience for everybody.

We are excited to hear from you,
Edie, Lola and Steph

Hello, we are Kathryn and Vance (Deputy Principal and Nurseryman).
We are now into our seventh year of hosting many new friends from abroad.
We live on a 10 acre property with a large 2 acre garden in a tranquil setting which we open to the public several times a year. We also have a nursery to propagate and breed plants. We are on the main road (10km) north of New Plymouth which is a beautiful city, close to the mountain and sea.
High quality accommodation and meals will be provided in exchange for 4 to 5 hours work per day(mostly outside but also domestic assistance). 3 days minimum stay, full work days on weekends with free week days are an option that suits us well. Tasks would include general housework, tree planting, pruning and weeding depending on the season. We also have some garden development still to do in the way of timber and concrete edging so welcome helpers with these skills.
We are a very friendly couple and enjoy the company of overseas visitors. We would ... more inside

Hello!

No help required at this time thanks.

We (Suzanne and David) are a couple in our late 40s with 2 kids who are away at university. We have a 1/3 acre property in a residential area of New Plymouth, just 2 kilometres from the centre of town and within walking distance of a safe swimming beach and the coastal walkway.

We have recently completed studies in Organic Horticulture so are developing a permaculture garden. So far we have planted an orchard and made and planted raised garden beds. We have a couple of chickens, but no other pets or livestock.

Future projects include installing a rainwater collection tank, building a permanent chicken coop and maintaining the existing gardens.

I work Monday to Friday and my interests are reading and cooking. David is at home and is into hunting, fishing and cooking. We try to eat seasonally, from our garden where possible. David also brews beer and makes wine. I make Kombucha.

Accommodation is in our home. We can host ... more inside

Nestled up against the Pouakai ranges with birds eye view of the coastline, our home has a bush backdrop with easy walking access to Egmont National Park while being only 15 minutes drive from New Plymouth.

Our house is located a 10 minute walk from the Mangorei Track, which allows for access to Pouakai cabin and the trail network beyond. We have 10 acres of land, 6 of which is native bush continuous with the national park.

We purchased this land 4 years ago and have started the hard work of converting it from a beef paddock to a lifestyle property complete with gardens, fences, windbreak and an orchard. We have already planted upwards of 1000 (mostly native) trees on the property, installed an "infinity lawn", planted a fruit orchard, created internal paddocks using 3 board fencing and landscaped several gardens.

We just bought another bunch of trees, shrubs and groundcover and so the work involved would be planting these but also weeding, raking out gravel... more inside

We are blessed to live in beautiful coastal Taranaki and run a boutique accommodation business. The Villas have large grounds and we are planting more shelter to create an area which will make us self sufficient in fruit and nuts etc. In the next few months we plan to convert an old railway goods wagon into a funky place to stay.
Work (4 hours per day)for anyone wishing to stay could include gardening, painting, property maintenance, building, collected firewood, help around the house etc. We have good beaches, surf, fishing and tramping close by.
Any help would be appreciated in our piece of paradise.
