I am a retired secondary school teacher and I love gardening, singing and playing guitar, hiking, presenting on community radio and travelling. I live in a lovely historic cottage on a large block with a permanent creek a few minutes walk from the centre of Willunga in South Australia. Willunga is a small country town in a wine growing region and is famous for it's cafes and Saturday morning Farmers Market. My home is about 45 mins south of Adelaide and a short drive to the beach. I can provide a room within my house for one or two people and delicious vegetarian meals in exchange for working with me on improving my organic garden and establishing a cut flower business. I prefer helpers that wish to stay for a few days up to one week. There is an outside BBQ for cooking meat. If you are interested in staying please email your phone number and I will contact you.

Mixed farming property in Penola, South Australia.

The accommodation for helpX helpers is a lockable, self-contained unit inside a larger boarding style accommodation block. The shared amenities (large kitchen, tv, pool table) are all available for use, however the unit does have its own kitchen, bathroom and TV.

Help needed is varied but revolves around the establishment and care of a (non certified) organic commercial sized vegetable garden. Occasionally light labouring duties in building trade. Other work may include general maintenance and tidying of the accommodation block/farm and taking care of 15yr and 11yr old girls. We also have one pony, two dogs, one cat and chickens.

Amount and days of required work can be negotiated. This region has many beautiful sight seeing day trips within two hours of Penola (along with the wine tasting IN Penola!). Beautiful beaches within 45 min drive. A car would be made available for those helpers who are not travelling with one. ... more inside
