2 houses joined together, one is my home (currently shared with a German friend), the other is for airbnb guests on short term stays. All are surrounded by a largish varied garden with organic vegetable planters as well as wildlife meadow, fruit trees, camomile lawn, wildlife pond and mini woodland etc.
I am retired but play guitar and still do some photography. The house is a mile from Killyleagh, a small historic town dominated by Ireland's largest privately owned castle. Good public transport to and from Belfast (18 miles) from Crossgar, 5 miles away (can drive you there). I need help to do some specific projects in the garden summer 2017 if the right kind of person came along - you would need to be strong and sensitive to plants.
The projects are varied, making a fire pit, clearing overgrown paths, repairing/rebuilding raised beds. But I also need general help painting and weeding.
The house is quirky, full of unusual art and decor created by my late wife and I. Ideally wou... more inside

We are a home educated family with two girls aged 4 and 2. We unschool. We started a couple of years ago to grow vegetables every summer and will be continuing to grow and learn as we go - in Northern Ireland we don't get amazing warm weather. We own a couple of chickens and have a decent sized garden for a town house. Town is about a five min walk and has entertainment and beaches very close. Giants causeway is close by too which brings tourists to the area. We love learning as we go and would love to share a journey with others along the way :)

We are a small independently run hostel in Belfast. Currently rated number 1 in Northern Ireland on hostelworld. We like to have people work with us who are friendly and outgoing, who are here to get something from this experience, socialize with the guests and staff, create a buzz and be a contributing character and presence to the hostel. In exchange for free accommodation in our 6 bed mixed staff dorm you will be required to work up to 3-4 hours a day either cleaning the hostel and making beds in the morning or reception duties during the day plus 1 night shift per week which is from 8pm to 8am. After your night shift you get that day off! We are a super friendly and chilled out hostel with artwork on nearly every wall which guests who are artists have done while they have stayed with us. We see it more of a homely feel hostel as the volunteers stay on site and they treat it as if it were their home. We do ask for a minimum stay of 1 month so you can learn the ropes and get famil... more inside

Feb 2017 Update: need a pair of helpers straight away!
The heart of this rural smallholding is a renovated, traditional stone cottage, built in 1758 and located in south County Down, roughly between Belfast and Dublin. Situated in the foothills of the Mourne Mountains and only twenty minutes from the Irish Sea, the farm sits on a 2 acre site which is given over to an exotic arboretum, orchard, native woodland and an organic vegetable garden, including a forty-foot polytunnel. Though the property is fairly rustic, all amenities are here: you will want for nothing, including high-speed wireless throughout. HelpX accommodation is in a nicely heated traditional stone cottage, complete with two beautiful, tuned upright pianos! HelpX tasks include all the usual organic gardening jobs, as well maintenance of the trees and shrubs and looking after the chickens. The host is a university lecturer who is away part of the time, so it's a good idea to be a self-starter who is willing to work i... more inside
