I'm Kate, I live 20 min walk from the centre of Hobart. "Petty st" is the name of our big beautiful family, which embraces all the friends who came by and lived in the Petty st house over the years. The first wwoofer/helper who came here arrived in 98'. Since then part of our big world wide family here is already more than 300 people. Each one added a great energy and value to the house.
We live communally in the city and share the garden with our two cats, and the chooks. The house is big and comfortable, visitors and friends are always passing by. Outside of the house there is a big sunny garden, with fruit trees and organic vegetables.
My main focus is on sustainability. My passion in life is natural dyeing of clothes and fabrics, designing and deconstructing garments. Once a week, on Saturday, I set up my Salamanca market stall in Hobart - a market for local and artisan products, food and clothes. At the stall I sell my designs, recycled clothes, clothes I dye, clothes ... more inside

We are not taking any helpers until April 2017. Best wishes for your journeys.
We are a retired couple who have travelled a lot and have now settled in beautiful Tassie. We are working to make our very large block of land into a permaculture system. As well as being gorgeous itself, our land looks out over the spectacular Western Tiers.
Trevor is a photographer, Annie paints in oils and is studying Fine Arts. We love meeting interesting, adventurous people and people from other cultures and will be very happy to introduce to the delights of our district.
Accommodation is in our house, in 2 rooms - one bedroom and one sitting room with own TV. We have WiFi.
You would share the rest of the house, including the bathroom.
In exchange for 4 hours work for 5 days (times flexible) and free weekends we will accommodate and feed you as part of the family.
We eat meat or fish occasionally but only if it is free range or sustainably caught. We often eat food fresh from our garden. We ... more inside

We are a young family of three living in the beautiful South Hobart. We love it here because we are right in the middle of a fantastic community, have bush views but are just a half hour walk to town via the rivulet track. We are even just 2 minutes from a World Heritage Site! Our place is pretty sweet but humble, although we do have our own bouldering wall. Our house is on a sunny north facing block. We aspire to grow all our own fruit and veggies here, but it's early days yet and we have a lot to do!

We are looking for friendly helpers that have a can-do attitude and are interested in gardening. Work might include gardening, tinkering, pottering, cooking and so forth. If you are keen to help us for 4 hours a day we would love to have you stay. In exchange, we have a room for you with a big double bed and plenty of good food. Our place is a great base to explore Tasmania from, and as outdoorsy folk we can give you some great tips on adventures to have.

We are a family of 5 (Father, Mother and 3 teenage children) living on a creekside bush property. We are a very busy household with work, school and sporting activities including horseriding and soccer.
We have been Helpx hosts for over a year and Wwoofing hosts for 3 years, many years ago.
We need help with gardening which includes weeding, brushcutting, mowing and pruning. We also are grateful for general help in maintenence of paddocks and gardens. Occasionally there will be cleaning and housework required. Mostly you will be working independently although we try to be working with you as well.
We are located 10 mins drive from Cygnet and 40mins from Hobart. Buses are infrequent but possible if you do not have your own transport. We can offer you a ride when convenient but we prefer that you are proactive in organising your own sightseeing.
Accommodation is in a separate self contained cottage where you can prepare breakfast and snacks. Lunch and dinner are together with the... more inside

We would like to host people who are willing to help us with daily activities around our home and garden.
Working in the flower and vegetable gardens is the main activity. Other jobs around our land involve weeds and unwanted vegetation, fences need fixing or removing and some jobs need a bit of muscle and stamina and can't be finished in a short time. Some examples of that are: wheeling heavy wheelbarrow loads of mulch, compost and firewood, in which you might meet spiders and other small creatures, most of which are harmless; digging garden beds, turning out compost bins and building new bins and heaps. And much more. We have sandy soil which is easy to dig and doesn't turn to mud when it rains, and a country bush garden full of native birds and some animals, a joy to work in for people who love the outdoor life.

If the outdoor work doesn't appeal and you are a capable indoor person you could do the housework needed each day to keep a household properly fed, clean and hygeni... more inside

My wife and I live in an old farm house on 3.6 hectares of land adjacent to the D'Entrecasteaux Channel. Rural setting. We have beautiful views down the Channel and across to Bruny Island. We are close to the terminal for the ferry to Bruny Island. The property is about half an hour by car or bus from Hobart. 2 lovely old cats. Very peaceful location. Many native animals live in the garden. Accommodation is with us at the other end of the house with a separate bedroom and bathroom.
The work required is general maintenance and property development to establish organic gardens and pasture. This would include general work around the property to establish gardens and grazing areas, painting the house, etc. Any woodworking skills would be gratefully received.
Sailors are welcome to join us on our old sailing boat which is berthed at the local marina. The whole area is very pleasant to live in.
We are interested in people who wish to stay and work with us for a month or ... more inside

We have a motel that is located around 10 minutes drive from the city of Launceston, Tasmania.
We are offering helpers accommodation in one of our motel rooms in exchange for 2 hours work per day. The work includes garden maintenance, painting, washing and folding linen, cleaning, general house work and many, many other jobs. We are also in the process of renovations so the work could be anything really.
Because of our busy working life we don't often get a chance to sit down with our helpers and enjoy too much cultural exchange but we do our best when we can.
The motel is located on the bus line if you don't have a car and the bus stop is almost at the door.
There is a shopping centre about 1.5km away.
Some dates throughout the year are unavailable due to bookings within the motel.
We look forward to hearing from you soon. Oh and that furry red thing in the pictures is Rupert :)
