Our home is located on a magnificent forested conservation property. It adjoins World Heritage country and is surrounded by vast areas of forested land offering spectacular scenery. Wonderful hiking opportunities into some spectacular wilderness country.

In the past we have been open as a retreat center so we are well set up for guests. Our place is not resort style but it is welcoming, comfortable and a beautiful down to earth home.

This is my wish list:
We would like help in our large organic vegetable gardens which we depend upon these days. We would also like some help in the home cooking or cleaning and possibly land maintenance.

Nothing major but a helping hand would be very welcome. Any contribution towards achieving these goals would be helpful and much appreciated.

We ask for 4 hours a day or equivalent 5 days a week and we can offer you comfortable accommodation with a private bedroom, internet, healthy meals and a welcome friendship. We can cater to mo... more inside

We are a small vegan farm animal sanctuary and a registered charity. We are also a safe space for LGBTIQA people and those who identify as non binary or female. We offer refuge, rehoming and rescue to neglected, homeless or vulnerable traditionally farmed animals. These include rescue pigs, goats, sheep, a cow, turkeys, ducks, chickens, lots of roosters and several rescue foxes (we have permits for these). The animals free range around the property and are generally curious about people. I need help with the day to day running of the sanctuary, this includes feeding animals, basic healthcare, shoveling up manure, checking water troughs, giving the animals attention and tidying up outside. Accomodation is in an outside room located a minutes walk from the main house. Share bathroom. Small volunteer lounge and kitchenette in the house. WIFI. We live on a farm in Laguna which is in the lower Hunter Valley. Laguna is 1.45hrs from Sydney CBD and only a 40 minute drive to Pokolbin which is the main wine growing region in the Hunter Valley.
We have horses and two friendly dogs. We also run a hospitality business called the Great Northern Trading Post.
We are looking for enthusiastic helpers to work on both properties. Skills in farm maintenance/gardening, food preparation/kitchen hand, cleaning, customer service and possibly child care (Jack is 2.5) are most desirable but not essential. Helpers must speak good English.
We offer separate living quarters, pool and a vehicle. We provide all meals, these will be a mixture of shared meals at home and from our GNTP's kitchen- all delicious, fresh, healthy food!
This is a great opportunity to work on a rural property and to be a part of a small business which is the centre of our fun and caring, Aussie community.
John and I look forward to hearing from you!

This is a 3 acre property owned and operated by the retired owner and is just 3km west of the town of Katoomba, in the Blue Mountains National Park.

We prefer helpers who are chatty and easy going, make an effort in interacting with other people, are open and broad minded and enjoy our Australian culture, and feel part of the family. We hope all helpers will become friends of a long lasting nature and even come back and stay with us as friends.

Helpers who are not addicted to the use of their smart phone, tablet etc especially while working or at the dinner table. Someone who loves life, enjoys a good time and are up for a laugh and enjoy the company of mature age people.

There are spring fed water supplies, 2 horse paddocks, horses & bushland views towards Medlow Bath and Blackheath. There are apple and peach trees. A multitude of bush walks are within 1km of the property and Katoomba is just a 15 min walk or a short bike ride. A bike is provided for guests use in the... more inside
