Come stay on a beautiful bush property!

We are working towards a self sufficient organic lifestyle on a bush property 35 minutes from Hobart. One of us is in the social services, one is a retired meteorologist, and one is a retired organic gardener. We are all very politically engaged and environmentally conscious, and our objective is to create a safe and nourishing space for both humans and native wildlife.

We are particularly looking for two people to stay from 1 to 15 March (or longer on either side, if you wish). During this period, you will have only light duties, but will be asked to stay available to provide help if needed for a disabled friend who lives on the property. For this period, good English is essential.

In general, we would love to have help with gardening, maintenance, painting, cleaning, etc.

In exchange, we can offe... more inside

heyhoo happy helpers,
we have a very nice but wild property on the hill right behind the sanddunes of roaring beach. right now there's not much up here yet, little shed, container, longdrop, firebath.. so we can only offer basic accomodation in tents, a old car converted into a tiny bedroom, caves with matresses (for the adventurous), good food, and the beautiful view of the beach, surf, wedge island.. work would be helping us in the garden, build a pizzaoven, help building a outside bathroom and sauna where i wouldn't mind some praktikal hands, best with some building experience too..?? some wippersnippering, firewood cutting (chainsaw experience??), housekeeping.. (let me know any handy skills/experiences..) depending on the surf/weather we'd like you to help us roughly 5h a day- but very flexible with the times.. we ourselves can't work when the surf's pumping and wouldn't expect you to.. ;-) but maybe other days we'll work a bit longer then..
We are looking for people who hav... more inside

We prefer stays of about one week.

Please request a helping stay by email, not by phone, thank you.

WE CANNOT HELP WITH 2ND YEAR VISAS - please read on if you don't need one.

We live in a centrally located house and small garden (vegetables, small fruit, flowers) in Kingston, with sunny aspect and beautiful views; close to civic and shopping centre, bus routes to Hobart, Huon and D'Entrecasteaux Channel; close walking distance to beach and coastal bushwalks. We are a middle aged married couple with 2 adult daughters, one of whom lives in Kingston.

We need help with general housework and cleaning, and with gardening: weeding, fertilising, mulching, pruning, etc. People with sanding, painting and woodworking skills are also very welcome.

Ottmar works full time and Elizabeth works three days a week, so helpers need to be happy to spend time working alone during the day, and to make their own entertainment in their free time.

In return for 4 hours work each day, we o... more inside

We have a small vineyard producing our own wine on beautiful remote Flinders Island. We have a 7 bedroom house for our working friends to share. We require 2 days work per week in exchange for accommodation. Our picking time is late March through April where many people in our small community give us a hand but we could do with a few more hands to help. The other 5 days per week could be spent exploring our island and joining in with our community. Pruning follows soon after that so volunteers welcome.

We are set in a beautiful rainforest alongside Wellington Park.
we have access to some great mountain walks with picturesque scenery and abundant wild life. In winter we can be covered with gorgeous snow.
Our house is close to self-sufficient but not quite there yet.We have solar power and fresh mountain water.
At present the accommodation would be a single room(double bed) in the house with shared facilities. We generally eat vegetarian food but are not strict about this. We have a dog and 10 chooks.
Due some ill health we require some assistance with labour and building.

Jobs include garden maintenance, animal care (chickens), housework, assisting with landscaping and building projects. Hello happy travellers,

We are a family of 4 (4 year old boy, 9 year old girl) living 20 mins out of Hobart, in a suburban area on the edge of the bush, near a river and 5 mins from Kingston Beach. There is a major bus route nearby.

We live these principles:
Wellness: Raising healthy & well-balanced children, healthy home-cooked food, non-smoking
Sustainability: Learning to grow organic vegetables using permaculture principles, composting toilets, building with recycled materials, saving energy.
Happiness: Balancing hard work and enjoyment, community involvement, time in nature, living simply and comfortably.

Given that we are a very children-oriented family, you'll need some interest or experience in interacting with young children. My 4 year old will want to discuss dinosaurs with you, and my 9 year old will want to play the piano for you.

We would like your help with:
If you're an OUTDOOR person --
- Gardening (vegetable and ornamental)
- Fence repair
- Painti... more inside

We are interested in finding a helper(s) to assist us look after our property - helping in the vege garden, bush, fencing and building maintenance and with housework.

We are a registered cattle property but we have sold most of our cattle recently due to the very dry conditions.

We are located in an open forest and temperate rain forest area in the Coal River wine region of Tasmania. Our property has some hills and includes a secluded and beautiful little rain-forested valley with tall trees, a dense under-story and ferns. This area is known as a Devil nursery and we have a healthy Devil population. We also have quolls in the area. There are also plenty of wallabies, wombats and other native animals.

As a retired couple and are finding it harder to look after our property. We love having younger people around us again since our own children have left home however we only accept a few helpers in any one year.

Preference is given to helpers that are non-smokers and all h... more inside
