Based in a castle in stunning scenery in Scotland, we run THE GLOBAL GREEN UNIVERSITY, founded in 1999, which is an international network of educators and researchers committed to building a peaceful, just, ecologically sane, cooperative and sustainable global society which accepts students for higher degree research on topics of importance to global well being. (Alternative energy, new management studies, communications, transpersonal knowledge, new physics, peace studies etc.) Our base here needs help to run the administrative and practical day to day work of the Castle of the Muses. We are based in a national park amidst stunning world class scenery on a sea loch.

we are a working protest site located beside HM Naval Base Clyde -- home to Britainīs nuclear weapons system -- the camp has been a base of operations for anti-nuclear campaigners since 1982 making it the worlds oldest surviving peace camp.

we are currently looking for mature, enthusiastic people for longer term stay. the main job at present is collecting firewood, but there is plenty of other things to be doing, eg, campaigning, direct actions, helping out with daily chores and general upkeep of site.

you will be accomodated in cozy caravans, all of wich have woodburners.

there are many things to do with free time too. for example, lovely forrest walks, watersports, mountain climbing and generally good conversations. ps, bring your musical instruments.

Stays of longer than 2 weeks are preferred and encouraged.

Hope to see you soon, love from

FPC

This is a lovely Georgian property with lots of character and lovely views on the hills above the Ayrshire coast. We ran it as a B&B for 10 years and now live at a more leisurely pace. We would like some help with the large garden and general maintenance around the property. We try to be as eco as possible and have biomass heating, our own spring water and live as sustainably as we can.

This is a yoga and therapy retreat. It is based in a large old Victorian property with gardens, which we have taken over from a group of Christian missionaries. Situated just over an hour from Glasgow we enjoy magnificent views over the Clyde estuary. We are looking for help to get some organic food production going, sort out a small wood and re-stock flower beds. We also need help with decoration in the main house and food preparation. 4-5 hours a day of work in return for food and accommodation would be great. We can also offer access to regular yoga and meditation sessions.

I have had the best summer - big thanks to Agnes and Robin, Giovanni, Steffi and Pablo, Isaac and Hayley .. well you all know who you are :-) Much progress was made thanks to you all, and I hope you enjoyed being here.

It's winter now and things have slowed down quite a bit. But I have a few last jobs indoors and out that I could use some help with before Christmas - does anyone fancy a week out here in the wilds of Argyll? Don't expect great weather, but the forests and the mountains are still here, as well as the beautiful loch!

We are located within Loch Lomond and Trossachs National Park, an area widely considered to be one of the most beautiful in Argyll and in Scotland as a whole, with some of the best hill walking in Scotland practically on the doorstep. The waters of the loch are beautiful, and mysterious with a channel more than 80 metres deep! All around the house is incredibly rich in wildlife; Red squirrel, pine marten, otters, red deer and badgers are common, as w... more inside

Myself (Ruari 24) and wife (Claire 26) independently run a fairly small hostel on the Isle of Arran in Scotland. We are currently considering taken the hostel off grid (solar, wind and compost) and to start cultivating the land around. We have a basic understanding as to how to achieve this but are interested in anyone who could bring knowledge, skills etc to put toward our goal as well as anyone able to help out with the basic hostel duties. We have accommodation to offer and would especially like to hear from anyone interested in staying long term.

Lots of plans and aims to living self sufficiently and looking forward to hearing from anyone interested in joining us.
