"La Bella Figura” or “making the best of what you have” is a phrase that best defines our approach. We are custodians of a beautiful home and farm and take a sympathetic, sensitive, and slow approach to restoration and farming. We started the project 10 years ago by replanting old hedgerows and woods, restoring ancient orchards and constructing a lake for wildlife. At the same time we researched how to tackle the farmhouse and it’s outbuildings using original materials such as lime plasters, breathable paints and elm. Bit by bit all the pieces came together, the foundations for the farm, a self sufficient small holding stocked with rare breeds more suitable to extensive rather than intensive farming and growing fruit and vegetables. Each decision we make is linked in some way, for example, the planting of wild flowers, lime trees and replanting of the orchards were all done with our honey bees in mind.

We have found ourselves increasingly interested in this approach and enjoy the... more inside

I have a lovely house with a big vege garden here in the Centre of cobham. I am fighting cancer so need a bit of help in the house and garden. I speak German, French,Spanish & Portuguese. It would be helpful if you have a driving licence in case I need to go to hospital. You get your own room eat together with me.I am leaning more and more towards being a vegetarian but that does not mean I expect you to be so. I was the ultimate carnivore prior to this cancer!I was a language teacher in the past and water sports instructor recently.
Full up till mid July

We are a small holding growing vegetables mainly for our own use and are planting trees on the land to create woodland and sheltered spaces. Our farm is in a beautiful valley 5 mins walk from the coastal footpath and a few miles from LANDS END in CORNWALL. We let our home out as a holiday home from May to October and live out on the land during this time.
There is a surf beach 20 mins walk over the fields and many beautiful walks in every direction from the farm.
Steve practices Tai Chi and plays guitar. We both enjoy singing and playing music. Jo is interested in costume and circus related activities.
Thank you for your interest. We have enough helpers for this year.

Devon - general help with garden, clearing ground, weeding, firewood, fencing., a little help in the house.

We would love to meet someone who is able to help us with mostly outside jobs. Some of the work is quite hard so you must be strong and fit, and willing to work in all weathers! Also routine jobs like feeding / cleaning out hens, weeding, cutting hedges etc.

We also have tiling to do, so anyone experienced in this would be welcome.

A little help with housework may be required if we are busy with B&B.

We are musicians (traditional/folk) living in the South Hams of Devon - an area of outstanding natural beauty. We are self employed in musical instrument repairs and always in need of more time for our business - the reason we need some help. We live in an old cottage in a village with a bakery and a pub.

We are looking for someone to help who is strong and able and thoroughly practical.

Our farm is situated on the top of the National Trust's Brockhampton Estate with stunning views in all directions. It is a family run working farm home to James and Victoria Hawkins and our four boys, when at home. We have a unique location with stunning views, traditional farm buildings, ancient woodland, tree-lined watercourses and orchards. Come and explore different parts of the farm and share our passion of farming and the countryside. Warren Farm is committed to sustainable agriculture and during the past ten years we have been introducing wildlife habitats across the farm. For example by restoring hedges and creating broader margins around all arable fields and currently developing several wetland habitats using the natural water courses on the farm.
The farming consists of arable beef and sheep along with many diversification projects.
Projects or help needed with.

Hi there, we both have had busy careers working in Education , mainly in central London, and now, we have moved into an old farmhouse on the edge of a village (with pub) in Suffolk. Our first projects, creating a meditation garden, putting a path through woodland, fedging and creating a kitchen patio have now been completed, thanks to brilliant HelpX volunteers. Builders have now finished doing great things to the house (and awful things to the garden.) So now we are extending a range of fences, 'fedges' and hedges to create diverse habitats within this large and varied garden, and continuing to bring bits back into control after years of neglect. Internally, there has been a fairly major re-arrangment of rooms, which now need basic redecoration, so there is always plenty to do, even on rainy days. In exchange for 4 hours work a day, we have a beautiful self contained annex, one double room with double bed, and a smaller room with 1 + 1 under/pullout single bed, plus own kitchen,... more inside

Please read our full profile before submitting your message & also check our website to get a better idea of what our ethos is. We are a social enterprise/not for profit. Would suit someone who is interested in Yoga/Meditation & might want to get some experience in how to run a Retreat Centre.
