We are a couple with a love of trees and growing our own fruit and vegetables. We run a craft business from home as a source of income. The accommodation is in a small caravan with shared use of the family home for meals. We have 3 cats.

We want help with carpentry on a small timber framed building. If you have any experience with hand tools and small construction that would be wonderful!

I am offering the right person a great opportunity of good quality accommodation in the centre of Edinburgh in return for work in my award-winning tenement garden. Length of stay can be from a couple of weeks up to months, depending on what space I have available. Most of the really hard work has already been done in the garden, but I need help with continued maintainance and with improvements that I would like to make, but that I just do not have the time to do on my own right now. You do not have to be a committed eco-warrior type, just simply somebody with an interest in nature, full of energy, able to use your initiative and be prepared for some cultural development. I promise you will have plenty of free time to explore and take advantage of being in such a great city as Edinburgh.

Work in my garden usually begins from around mid-March until November. Unfortunately, due to the popularity of Edinburgh in August, I am unable to offer accommodation then.

We are a small family run croft on the banks of Loch Shin in Sutherland. Shinness is a small traditional crofting community approximately 4 miles outside of Lairg. We set up Highland Croft Produce at a time when things were difficult for crofters and farmers alike with Foot and Mouth and low lamb prices. All our produce is naturally reared to the highest standard and we believe that quality is not to be compromised.
We also have other animals on the Croft including 2 horses.
We would like help with general croft duties and in addition experienced horse riders to help with schooling and exercising the horses.
If you would like to help us, we have a varied list of chores including lambing, haymaking, shearing other chores include looking after other animals on the croft including hens, goats, dogs and ferrets.
As we are a small croft chores tend to be light leaving plenty of time to explore our beautiful scenery. If you would a chance to enjoy some time working on a croft and wor... more inside

Two cottages under renovation on the West Coast of Scotland. We will eventually let the cottages, have some camping and some cabins to let, but from January 2014 we need general help to complete eco-building works such as stud walling and lime plastering, insulation, etc. We can provide a warm room, breakfast and evening meals, conversation and an insight into this amazing Scottish landscape in exchange for 1-2 months building work, landscaping and gardening preparation. References or recommendations would ideally be required.
Pete works some of the week away in Fort William where he leads a tourism research programme specialising in eco- and adventure tourism. Jo works part-time for the School of Adventure Studies, and full-time as house restorer. The village of Arisaig has live music in the pub most weeks.

We are a small Hotel situated in the quiet village of Arisaig, on the west coast of Scotland. Our accommodation offers sea views which overlook the bay and out towards the Small Isles of Eigg and Rum. It is an area of outstanding natural beauty with beautiful beaches, sparkling Lochs and rugged hills. We are looking for keen people to help us renovate the tired interior of the hotel and can offer free accommodation plus a food allowance. You would need to have experience in general D.I.Y and decorating, be willing to work up to five hours per day with one/two full days off a week. Additional skills such as plastering, gardening, carpentry and cleaning would also be a bonus. We have space to house up to 10 people and are open to groups, friends and couples joining us. The hotel will be closed from the end of October until the beginning of March and we require people to come and help during this time. The length of stay can be anything from two weeks to five months. We have a variety... more inside

My partner and I have our own businesses. Mine is a cleaning business and my partner's is property maintenance. There will be work available between the two. Either helping Andy with labouring etc or helping me with the cleaning of holiday cottages, private homes and ironing.
We live in a large bungalow in a very beautiful village called Killin. We live here with our 3 dogs, Ty and Alfie (German Shepherds) and Milly (a terrier) and our two cats Poppy and Paddy. Friday, Saturday and Monday are my busiest days with the cottages (10am to 4pm) times and days are all very flexible though.
There would also be dog walking and gardening every so often to do.
A double bedroom is available so would suit either one single person or a couple travelling together. There is a bathroom right next door to the bedroom with a bath and a shower.
There is WiFi available in the house.

There would not be any money for the work done but you would get accommodation and meals in return.

I live in an old croft cottage on part of a croft in the Scottish Highlands. It is a very scenic and photogenic area with lots of hillwalking and nature trails. I am close to the seashore and a few kilometers from the famous Eilean Donan Castle (see photo), the 5 Sisters of Kintail, the Cuillins of Skye and Ben Killilan, 'where eagles fly'!
The house and grounds require a lot of work - including clearing hill ground of rock and scrub - so at present the placement might suit those prepared for farm-work or building rather than housework. Eventually, I hope to keep hens and grow vegetables organically. Also to do Bed and Breakfast. But that is in the future.
Cutting firewood, clearing and digging terraces, collecting stone for windbreak walls and putting up outbuildings is the main work now. Over the summer I need to urgently progress work in the garden and putting up sheds. Manual, joinery, stone working, plumbing skills and for leisure activity a liking for hill-walking would be ... more inside
