We have a family of 5, all boys aged 11, 13, 15. Living on an 11.5 acre lifestyle block that we have had for two years, we are still in the setting up stage! Have a 'zoo' pigs, goats, chicken, ducks, quails, budgies, fish and a cat, calves at times. We both work full time (teaching and dairy farming) and are super busy running after the boys!! We have a full self contained unit, complete with laundry, bathroom, kitchen, covered deck - but kitchen living, dining and bedroom all one room. Stunning views! Suitable for singles, couples or more! Looking for people that help with gardening, stock work, building, fencing, electrical etc.

Ruawai is a small town that is central to both the east and west coasts of NZ - it is where the Northern Wairoa River meets the Kaipara Harbour - awesome for fishing etc. We have the Kai Iwi lakes and Kauri forests within an hours drive. We are 2 hours north of Auckland and about an hour from Whangarei.

We are a family of 6: mum, 4 children, aged 13, 16, 19 and 23, and grandmother. The two oldest children have pretty much flown the nest and only return home once in a while. We live in an old wooden house on a beautiful lifestyle block of 1.6 hectares in rural Whangarei.

We are vegetarian/vegan and we love animals: 1 horse, 11 pet sheep, 1 cow with calf, 1 dog, 2 cats, 5 chickens and a rooster live with us on our land.

We can accommodate one person or a couple.
The type of work that typically needs doing includes jobs such as weeding, digging over the vegetable garden, planting, house cleaning, painting, etc. You’ll have plenty of free time to explore this beautiful area of New Zealand.

The helper/s (1 person or a couple) must have their own transport as we live rurally and there is no public transport to and from our house.

There is plenty to see and do around Whangarei: Explore our many beautiful beaches, forests, bush and nature walks. You can also visit historica... more inside

We are a new mushroom farm, growing exotic types of mushrooms, such as Oyster and Shiitake. We are looking for people who are curious about mushrooms and can help us grow them. Mushroom growing is unique and interesting. We are situated in Te Arai/Mangahwai, close to New Zealand's most beautiful white sand surf beaches and township.

I have been living in Whangarei for most of my life - love it here :-) I've just purchased a beautiful waterfront bach 15 mins from Whangarei CBD. I'm also flatting with social / active flatmates and there's lots of fun things to do nearby.

With these homes there's plenty of work to be done around - including painting, gardening, housework etc.

I'd like to meet some travellers to help out with these and happy to introduce / show around some of northland's best attractions / secrets!
Can provide sleeping quarters, food and drinks for around 4 hours work per day.. Can also potentially provide a vehicle to borrow / further allowances dependent on the level of work..

Also if anyone has any specific experience and job history as a mechanic or builder I would happily pay a good hourly wage for some work.

Would prefer to host helpers with experience or those in 20s+

We are a easy going couple in our thirties who have a 16 acre farm that we brought nearly four years ago. As we now have a 2 year old gorgeous wee girl and my partner works long hours we could really do with some help on the farm to continue building our dream.
A friend of ours also lives here in his shack and is currently building a tiny house for himself on the property. We also have a couple of caravans and some cabins onsite.
We started on our property with only a caravan and a bare block. We now have built a shack around our caravan and have some other infrastructure in place like large chook coups, gardens, compost toilet and compost bins, dirt bike track, woodshed, yards and more.
We are currently building some new cabins for us to live in and could do with a hand with painting and other building type jobs.
We all follow similar ideas for the farm trying to maintain a chemical, spray free paradise for us, our child and family.
We would one day like to be in a pos... more inside
