Looking for non smoking help from October.

If you love animals and gardens you will fit right in here. Do you know the difference between plants and weeds? The garden is open to the public for charity (a local hospice) it is very large and needs year round maintenance which can be heavy and often dirty work. I also have animals to look after.

Please note, I do not take smokers and you must have a good understanding of English.

Apart from helping me with my varied needs this is a beautiful part of England to visit if you like nature and scenery as I am out in the country one mile from the nearest public transport to Plymouth, 6 miles away, which has a population of around 250,000 a biggish city to visit for both interest and shopping.

My two pet dogs and three cats live in the house with us but outside there are 23 ducks and 7 chickens to feed, put to bed at night and let out again in the morning and clean out as required. Two of the chickens like to come into the kitc... more inside

Hello helpers

Welcome to our listing page.

We are looking for a couple of people at the moment:

1/ A single person or a couple able to do carpentry, simple building work and gardening now.

1/ A woman who could come any time from the 15th of October and help us with cleaning, cooking healthy food and gardening. We are looking for someone able to look after a home well as well as live and work independently and who is happy to explore and make use of the many wonderful things happening in the area.

A bit about us: We are a family of 3 and 2 cats. We are living in a beautiful part of Devon, at the edge of fields and stunning views but very close to Totnes, one of the most alternative towns in the UK. We are involved in holistic work with families, from pregnancy onwards, running a small computer business and offering accommodation (mostly in the summer).

We ask for up to 25 hours work a week, in exchange for
ē comfortable warm accommodation in your own room in a... more inside

We are a small horse livery yard amd wedding venue on the edge of the North Yorkshire moors with mainly horses, but also a cat, two goats, hens and two dogs. We also do weddings in the summer - check out our website so you can see our farm and the area.

It is a lovely rural area, in a beautiful setting with lots of walking on the doorstep. The nearest market town is only 1 mile away, Kirkbymoorside, which has a farmers market every Wednesday. There is a bus stop 10 minutes walk away which you can get to places like Pickering, Helmsley, Whitby and York.

The jobs in the winter are mainly mucking out the horses, putting in the fields, changing rugs, cleaning tack and if you can ride well, exercising them too. In the summer it is more help with the weddings - cleaning the barns, preparing the cabin etc. You can also ride in your spare time. The working days are flexible - usually help in the morning then afternoons off till it's time to get the horses in then you have a day and... more inside

Hi HelpXers,

Mum (Pat) and I (James) moved here 5 years ago to get some land, escape the busy city consumer lifestyle and start on a path of sustainability and self-sufficiency. We are starting to produce our own organic food, water, energy, materials and much more. Basically trying to remove the dependencies we have on big corporations and the failing economic system. I believe we need to re-establish community, sharing, loving and helping each other, rather than pursuing our manufactured and isolating need for money, big TVs, fast cars and bling etc!

As Pat will no longer be cooking or providing accommodation for the volunteers in the Cottage, I have moved into the cabin to begin making it suitable for this purpose. We are therefore looking for someone to help re-renovate the cabin. You would be sharing the cabin with me and assist while we finish building the kitchen extension and doing general maintenance, making it a nice place for us and future volunteers to cook, sleep,... more inside

*** UPDATE:

We need a volunteer to start the first week of November, and another one in December.

Usually we don't select volunteers until we know when the current volunteers are leaving, we know it's not good for planning but it's good for the current volunteers since they don't feel pressure to leave and that is more important for us.

Anyway you can apply any time and if we like your profile we keep in touch and let you know when we have any position available
