We are David and Nicky Rae and have 4 children all grown up now, 3 cats and 7 dogs (of various types!)
We live in North Wales close to the coast with views that look out to sea in one direction and up to the foot hills of Snowdonia the other, while overlooking the Conwy estuary.

We have a mixed stock farm with chickens, sheep, cows, and 2 piggies.
We run a small livery yard with horses and ponies.
The general jobs are to help with what ever is going on with the farm and or doing some gardening maintenance (summer) and light household chores.

At present we are hoping to find a couple who would like to be here to house and pet sit over the coming Christmas period for 2-3 weeks as we are planning to visit one of our sons in Australia.
We have help on the farm during the week days and there is always someone around with the horses so you would not be unsupported.

We will provide a car for you to use while you are here and leave money for food supplies.

Help wanted! Summer and beyond!

We have meadows, pasture, woodland, lakes and stunning views of both sea and mountain. We are starting to grow veg, meat and eggs and soon milk. But we are just starting out and this is on a small and sustainable human scale that we hope will provide food and fuel for visitors to the farm and the local community. We are using holistic management, permaculture and traditional methods.

As well as being productive, we want this to be a place where people can come and slow down for a while, to think about what matters in the world and what the world needs us to give back.

We have only been here for a few years and have had two babies and put a roof on the house, so much of this is aspirational, but we will get there (especially with your help)

We have a young family and so some of the time you would be left to your own devices for cooking and eating dinner etc so you would have to be happy to spend some time by yourself. Our place would suit a... more inside

Having successfully run the highly acclaimed Primrose Organics for 30 years and the Primrose Earth Awareness Trust for 15 years Paul Benham now runs Primrose Haven Retreats at the Haven. We encourage a deep respect and connection with the land and nature and run sound healing workshops. This is a very special piece of land on 1.5 ha and has beautiful gardens and many interesting and sacred spaces including, a willow labyrinth, a large sacred geometry form, a celtic roundhouse, a stone circle a sound/peace chamber, a sacred grove of trees and examples of permaculture and organics. We have 3 Shepherd Huts and Yurts and Bell tents for accommodation and help is required to prepare these for courses and to maintain the beautiful gardens and sacred spaces and organic vegetable gardens. Also this year we are running "Work, Rest, Sound and Song Experience Weeks" and these are highly affordable.Check out " Juicy Juicy " 2nd-7th October.

We are one of four new eco smallholdings which gained planning permission in 2016 under the new One Planet Development planning policy. We are currently in the process of building our off-grid family home. The planning permission requires that the house is “zero carbon in construction and use” and uses local, natural materials.

Our house is a two story roundwood timber frame, with straw bale infill walls and lime render.

We also have two acres of apple orchard, keep bees for pollination and honey, and will grow much of own food.

Visitors can expect to be involved in building work (lime rendering, clay plastering, carpentry...), beekeeping, orchard management and gardening. Our immediate three neighbours in this new eco-village are similarly self-building homes from predominately natural materials and we are part of a wider low-impact community in West Wales.

We have a smallholding (small farm) in Carmarthenshire, Wales, UK. We have a small flock of sheep, chickens, ducks, one friendly dog and one cat.

Our land borders a river and so is on the slope of the river valley. It is not overlooked and is very peaceful. We have many grassland areas with some that we are developing into wildflower meadows and some areas of woodland. It's the perfect place for stargazing.

We would like to host people here who are able to help with general tasks around the holding, including coppicing, bramble clearance, helping with animal related jobs when necessary, and any other tasks which arise during the everyday running of the farm. During wet weather, there are maintenance tasks around the house. We would welcome anyone also who has specific skills, such as carpentry, plumbing or building. We work from home and so are around and about but we would like our Helpx guests to work with the minimum of supervision.

There would be up to 4 hours per da... more inside

Hi,
We are Welsh speaking family, situated almost on the shore of Bala Lake, the biggest natural lake in Wales in the south of Snowdonia National Park and yes, the surrounding area is stunning. Bala is within walking distance and is a small market town with a few shops and a leisure centre which has a swimming pool.

We live on an acre of land that has woodland a stream and a garden which is managed organically and we have one permanent and one temporary polytunnel to grow our food. We have chickens, a dog and a few cats. We are on a very low income so our life style may seem quite simple to you. We use as little electricity and water as possible, fell our own wood for heating and our diet is mostly simple, homemade but nourishing.

Our property is vegetarian and is the ethos of how the land is managed and how we live.
Accommodation is a small 4 berth caravan which can accommodate 2 adults and two young children. There is no electricity or water to the caravan, the simple li... more inside

What we really need is someone who likes a challenge!

We have lots of little jobs we need help with -one is the garden and the shed, which needs a lot of work/weeding/a deck building in the shape of a leaf, and a shed re-building, plus we need to build/make a new fence.

We live in a beautiful valley in West Wales about 10 miles from the sea, in an old stone house which we are renovating and could do with a little help in exchange for bed/food and some day trips out to lovely places.

We will be able to provide bed and full board - but can't guarantee to cook meals every night - although anyone who likes cooking is very welcome to! If you let us know food requirements we can stock up before you arrive. We are non-smokers and are not vegetarian, but are always trying to learn new veg recipes, so happy to try to provide veg diet if needs be.

A few hours (4-5) a day with weekends off would be all we'd ask. We are also on Couchsurfing so have had lo... more inside
