We have a small property in the Australian bush 40kms from Mudgee in Central Western NSW (approximately 300kms from Sydney).

Over the past 8 years the property has been recovering from sheep grazing and many small trees are now starting to appear. During this time we have been working hard to make a rundown fibro box into a liveable family home.

Our aim now, is to establish a garden immediately around the perimeter of the house, create a vegetable garden to provide a healthy source of food, plant a few more trees to help with our goal of rehydrating the soil and to better utilise what we have around us.

We hope you will help us do this.

Ideally we are looking for physically fit people with some knowledge of permaculture practices or growing their own food, to guide us in getting started on creating a productive vegetable garden.

We will be starting from scratch with soil that has very little organic matter in it, so there will initially be a lot of digging and lift... more inside

Our 6,000+ acre property is a fully sustainable beef cattle and horse riding farm, owned and operated by the Chapman family since 1840. We are a 2 hour drive from Sydney, and 1 hour from the Hunter Valley wine country.

The family farm is owned and operated by Peter and Mary (in their 50s), and their daughter Jess (late 20s) (who manages the running of the horse riding business).

We are looking for energetic, self motivated helpers to assist with the care and maintenance that's involved in running a cattle and horse riding business.

* We are currently looking for helpers who can help with some painting and very basic renovation tasks.
We have recently built a new toilet and shower block which needs painting (inside only), and are looking to renovate the caravan section of the volunteer's living quarters.

** We are a one hour drive from the nearest town (Singleton) so expect to spend a lot of time relaxing on the farm. Because of our secluded location, helpers are requi... more inside
