We live in a quiet area a 15 minute walk from the centre of Totnes. With a thriving alternative community with lots of music and alternative healing, Totnes is also the founder of the transition town movement. We are close to the Dartmoor National Park which is an area of natural beauty, very good for walks and treks. We are also close to the sea where you can swim and go for stunning cliff walks.

We ask for 4 hours work a day with 2 days off a week. We need help with general gardening maintenance, and/or painting in exchange for free accommodation in one of our bedrooms, and food.

We are looking for help from April to October. However we are not available between the middle of July and the end of August.

Looking forward to hearing from you.

We are looking for help in our new eco cafe this winter/spring It is becoming more popular by the day. This is our main focus this year, but there is also a lot to do on the farm as well. Hopefully this provides a good balance for helpers.
It is especially good for people wishing to improve their English.
Couples with their own accomodation especially suited to here.

Our farm is a base for conservation grazing across the Chilterns. Apart from grazing we also carry out contract work for conservation bodies and individuals. This consists of the whole range of rural activities you would associate with conservation.
There are two polytunnels and raised beds, but these have been underutilised through lack of time this year.
There is always something to do for any level of skill.
The accomodation is self contained in touring caravans. There is a proper loo and shower in an adjacent building.
Food is provided, but it would consumed indecently. Its a meat producing farm and ... more inside

I live in the stunning town of Stamford. You should google it to find out more !
There is a small guest room. The bathroom would be shared with me. It is a lovely 1930's semi-detached house in a nice neighborhood. The pool/leisure centre is nearby and the town has lots of wonderful things to offer. I am looking for someone to help me with jobs around the garden (weeding, pruning, planting) weather permitting. It is a garden that definitely is in need of care and also inside some painting and decorating. I especially am interested in someone who enjoys and is good at cooking and would like to prepare meals from their homeland. I don't eat meat or fish or dairy products. It's very important that you like dogs as mine is very friendly. He also needs a couple of walks per day. All these are VERY flexible jobs. Looking for approx 5 hours daily. You are welcome to attend my yoga classes. There are nice walks and Stamford town is very pretty with shops, theatre etc. The Stamford tra... more inside

Hi,
We'd love some help this Spring from helpers who are creative and practical; a couple would be ideal as we are both sometimes at work.
It's an acre of wild tranquility in a North Devon Valley. We have a tiny polytunnel , a few raised beds, hens and bees (off site at present) We are trying to establish a more productive garden and make better us of our outbuildings. We are developing a little' Permaculture People Care Garden'.
If you are creative and practical and have a feel for natural gardens, then this would be a perfect place to spend some time and get some peace.
If you have practical outdoor DIY skills that would be good as we could do with a bit of help to reduce our 'to do' list. There are various projects to tackle, depending on your skills and interests. You might want to create a new hen house or paint the caravan, or build a pond, clear the bank, make a pretty rustic fence, build some vertical growing space or paint the kitchen. Maybe you like preparing firewood... more inside

UPDATE MAY 2017: We now have capacity to potentially host one volunteer for the next couple of months, until July.

Bedford Fields Community Forest Garden is an open access garden in Woodhouse, Leeds, LS6, that aims to educate people on how forest gardening can be a viable alternative to food production, resilient to climactic and social change. We aim to educate volunteers and the local community about forest gardening and wider environmental issues through workdays, workshops and discussion. We believe in the ‘urbalisation’ of our cities – ‘bringing rural life to the city’. Our website is here:

About a third of acre of land in total, we have over 200 species of plants and over 100 edible species and a mixed species hedge planted and fenced off as a wildlife corridor leading to Woodhouse ridge. Last year we welcomed around 100 new volunteers and would like to welcome even more this year. We run workdays, one where we do therapeutic-style gardening, another where we get lots ... more inside

This is a seriously unique, even more seriously RUSTIC and wonderful, 16th century WATER MILL RESTORATION PROJECT, set in the stunning Cumbrian countryside. This exciting, BIG project is close to the Lake District, countless Roman ruins and ancient towns and charming villages, including the World Heritage site of Hadrian's Wall (Roman, AD122!).

Accommodation is in the half-finished, but cosy, mill house, or in a unique travelling wagon, or in vintage railway carriages, next to a lovely mill race (water stream). All of these accommodation options are RUSTIC, so you will need to be tough, hardy, open-minded and adventurous in your spirit!

There is only a long-drop, outside toilet, so be happy with that. There is an indoor hot bath.

I'm not house-proud. This is a working building site, not a show home! I don't sit glued to the tv all night. I like to eat, talk, laugh, and share travelling storeys.

I'm a collector of stuff! I collect wonderful and weird machiner... more inside

We have a 200 acre Dairy farm with 100 milking cows, 100 beef animals, and 2 horses. We are a fun loving family & you would be welcome in our farm house. You would have your own bedroom with own shower room. We would welcome any one with riding experience, but would appreciate help on the farm & in the house.
