GARDENING, HELP AROUND THE HOUSE

We are a home-schooling family of 5 living on 1.5 hectares close to the centre of Bundaberg. Our property has extensive gardens as well as vegetables and fruit trees.

Our current focus is on planting Australian native plants in the gardens, removing weeds and mulching the garden beds. Helpers would need to be willing to work unsupervised once they are familiar with the tasks. We prefer a minimum stay of 4 days.

Accomodation is a fully self-contained flat with a queen bed and double fold-out bed, bathroom, kitchenette, fridge, TV, internet and use of swimming pool.

As a home-schooling family we enjoy meeting people from around the world and helping our children learn about different places and cultures.

We are currently unable to take any placements as we have a Family member living in our Accommodation

We are a married couple in our early 60's, Greg works 3or 4 days a week and Ann has a busy life with family and interests. We live in a gabled cottage on 10 acres and have an attached Granny Flat of huge proportions available for our volunteer couple. It is fully self contained, with it's own bathroom, kitchen, bedroom, lounge area, TV etc .We have a pool for your use. We are looking for a NON SMOKING couple(sorry but cigarette smoke makes me unwell)We would hope that if we all get on well that you would stay 1-2 weeks if there is work for you. We would offer accommodation, provisions for your own preparation of breakfast and lunch and having dinner with us. Or if you prefer we have no problem with you preparing your own dinner. If you can cook you may like to make dinner some nights for us all. In return we ask for 20 hours work per week, usually 4 hours per day with 2 days off... more inside

we have cellardoor and restaurant. we have a few goats and one alpaca., dogs and cat. We eat and drink well , enjoy your stories and and a laugh.

Your accomodation is next to the restaurant with valley view and TV and shared shower. We also have two caravans not far from the house.

We need always help in the restaurant and kitchen -- you do not have to be a chef -- we teach you. Many helpers take lots of our recipes home. There is also work out side , gardening , fencing and general maintenance-- The restaurant is only open on the weekends , so there is enough time to do other things or rest.

We are very interested in green energy. We just started importing and selling LED lights, solar street lighting and power supplies.

We prefer longer stays. We have had many helpers who stay for 6 months and many come back a second and third time.

Welcome to Millaa Millaa which is situated on the southern end of the Atherton Tableland, 97km from Cairns and 55km from Innisfail. As the farm is 3,000 feet or 891m above sea level the climate is very pleasant with little humidity and temperature is rarely above 25 degrees Celsius. Average rainfall is 120 inches per year which is why Millaa Millaa is famous for waterfalls.

We have a small farm, 129 hectares (320 acres) and beef cattle are our main industry. We breed cattle and fatten steers. We also breed Border Collie dogs and stock horses.

We welcome any one to come and stay.

There are many interesting places to see and visit close to Millaa Millaa both on the Atherton Tableland and in Cairns and Mission Beach.
Renovations to our house are almost finished; it is a large Queenslander with 7 bedrooms so there is plenty of space. We have internet access. The farm is less than 1km from town and about 2km from Millaa Millaa falls where you can safely swim. We have several q... more inside
