Bonjour!

Simon and Sylvie live in a suburban house in the suburbs of Toulouse, with a small garden.

UPDATE Feb 2018: We have a full house again as both our children are back living with us! So we cannot accept any helpers until the summer (August probably). So it is pointless to even ask us if you can stay before then: we just don't have the room!

In exchange for 4 hours a day doing these tasks we shall put you up and feed you with good French cuisine.

In August we have plans for a lot of painting work. We can put helpers up in the attic apartment - an independent flat designed, constructed and decorated by helpers past.

There is a lot to see in Toulouse and we're only a few minutes from the nearest metro station into town and a nice municipal swimming pool. Helpers often find that a week in a big French city is welcome relief after weeks out in the sticks with no night-life, cafés or young people around. Toulouse has all this ... and more!

We are Chris and Mike and, following many years of holidays in the Gers, in South West France, we moved here on a permanent basis a year ago, in September 2016. Our home is a Gascony Chateau - part of which dates back to the 14th century - which has a large barn, gite, out buildings, swimming pool and over 5 hectares of land. We run a chambres d'hotes and rent out the gite for self catering. We share our home with a large, friendly, Labradoodle called Hugo! Whilst he is very sociable, we are not able to take anyone travelling with a pet.

Our house is located in a rural setting on the edge of a very small hamlet, 5 kms from a small market town with bars, restaurants, supermarkets etc and 24 kms from the departmental capital, Auch. Toulouse (accessible by train from Auch) is 1.5 hours by car, the Pyrenees and Bordeaux approximately 2 hours drive.

Whilst we have numerous indoor and outdoor projects one of our plans is to make our woodland more accessible to guests and visitors. W... more inside

We’re Terence (64) and Kate (57) a friendly Anglophone couple with connections to the UK, New Zealand and Greece. We’ve a hectare of land on the borders of La Mayenne and Orne- a region of gentle hills, orchards, grazing cows and picturesque towns and villages. We have a number of ‘projects’ to interest you

• Livestock fencing and maintenance
• Repairing roofs of outbuildings
• Installing guttering and water butts for rain harvesting
• Rebuilding (in wood) of the goat and chicken houses
• Putting new covers on the poly-tunnels
• Constructing a composting system
• Wood cutting

We have three donkeys, two goats, two dogs and Phoebe the ginger cat! So there’s the daily round of work that supports our animals; letting out, feeding, mucking out, ‘poo picking’ etc. Are your fingers green? There’s digging, preparing, sowing/planting, hoeing, watering, harvesting in the vegetable garden and fruit trees. Grass cutting, strimming and general yard maintenance.

We immigrated a year ago from the center of Amsterdam to the center of France, the Creuse à part of the Limousin. There we bought an old watermill dated from 1710. We live in a comfortable, 80’s, renovated giant barn from around 1850. Beside the watermill and the millers house there is another old house we are renovating to turn into a gite/guesthouse. There is an huge pond which supplied the mill of water and near it is a field (now with cows on it) which we want to turn into a mini camping with safari tents in the future. We are a couple in our late 40's with a 5 year old son, a cat and a dog (who play, eat and sleep together) We live 3 kilometers near Dun-le-Palestel with shops and a weekly market. It’s a 20 minute ride to the nearest train station in La Souterraine were we can pick you up.
We are looking for people who can help us renovating the gite. Tilers, plumbers, carpenters, all-round handyman or handygirls are very very welcome! People who like to work in the garden (whi... more inside

Bonjour!

Living in maritime Brittany, we are the French `guardians` of a 3 hectares (nearly 7 acres) piece of land on the edge of a forest, 6 kilometers from the sea and the gorgeous beaches of the north coast. Its name is `Jardin du Kalon` (Garden of Heart), next to a small village called Lanvellec.

Our land is a beautiful, celtic green place surrounded by woodland, including a meadow, big granit boulders, a small lake with a place to make night fires, a stream and a fairy swamp, a big mandala-shaped vegetable garden, hand-made chalets available as working studios, and plenty of nice and quiet spots for contemplation or artistic expression, or whatever joyful and ecological activities you would enjoy!

For the past 16 years, our on-going project has been to create a retreat/garden/centre for sustaining inner, spiritual resources and creativity, and the project is unfolding nicely, with the help and inspiration of so many excellent visitors over the years.

This summer a... more inside
