Hi!

I offer accommodation for short stay helpers in return for 2 hours a day of fairly light work. Stays of two or three days usually work well.

My place is a converted barn, 5 minutes from Matamata. This could be an ideal place to stay on your way south from Auckland. or else heading out of NZ. It's less than 2 hours drive from or to Auckland Airport. My place is also within easy reach of a number of activities (see below).

ABOUT ME: I'm a yoga and performing arts teacher who has travelled in the USA, Europe and India. Also I've lived and travelled all over NZ, so can help you with travel tips for your time here. I love conversation, politics, languages, culture and shared humour!

ABOUT YOU: Solo traveller or a couple. Vegetarian/semi-veg (or willing to be for the time staying here!). You'll need to have your own transport to get out and explore the area. By all means enjoy a rest day or a lie-in while you're here - but please don't be lying around the house your whole ... more inside

We are a life style farm running a small number of dairy cows, Dexter cattle and dairy goats, horses, chickens, and our household pets .. cats and dogs.
Our property is beautifully planted in trees, and has quite a flower garden, big lawn and vegetable garden. We do a range of farm activities, and development here. Our horses are some riding, a number of brood mares, and young stock. We are close to the Thames estuary and at the gate way to Coromandel Peninsula
We are into spring now with young animals playfully enjoying the sunny days.
Warm weather is here.
We have been doing wood splitting for the last month or so. Always plenty of garden that needs a bit of TLC.
We would like our helpers to do 5 -6 hours a day. You will have good accommodation and meals. You must like animals and communicate well.

We are preparing to move to a new address in May and at present are NOT looking for a helper.

However once we have settled in Katikati (Bay of Plenty) by the end of June we will be looking for help again.

We will be developing and running a small horticultural endeavour growing and selling hydrangeas for cut flowers, expanding on an existent olive grove and building tourist accommodation as well as selling fruit at market. So there will be plenty to do. Keep us in mind if you think this sounds like you would enjoy it. We'll update here once we are up and going again.

Until then.....enjoy your stay in NZ!

We are a friendly and relaxed family enjoying life on a one acre lifestyle block We have a cat, 4 chickens and 2 sheep,(the sheep are self-sufficient!)

We are going overseas from May 9th to June 19th and are looking for one or two helpers to come and stay to keep our daughter company while we are away and take care of our animals and mow the lawn when necessary.

Our daughter is a 25 year old teacher who works at the local primary school, teaching 9 and 10 year olds. She is easy-going, friendly and enjoys playing guitar, travelling, hiking, camping, yoga, meeting new people and good conversations.

Our house is comfortable, warm (with a heat pump and a wood-burning fire), and peaceful, in the countryside with lovely views of the surrounding dairy farm and Mt Kakepuke and Mt Pirongia.

We are less than 15 minutes from the Otorohanga Kiwi House, where you are guaranteed to see cheeky kiwi birds being fed and playing.

Waitomo Caves are spectacular and less than half an... more inside
