We live in the Lower North Island - just 2kms from Manakau, Levin, in a 1900's style house on a small lifestyle block with a few cows, sheep, a couple of cats, and a teenager! We have a semi-organic vegetable garden and a small orchard. We love our life here and want to share it with others for a 2-3 day stay, a week (or longer...can be arranged). We have a large, comfortable in-house room for helpers to stay. Good hearty meals will be provided in exchange for help with gardening, weeding, collecting firewood, basic carpentry and a variety of other jobs (depending on your skill preference). We are located approx 10mins from Otaki, 15mins from Levin and 2mins from a small village (with pub, cafes, restaurant, deer museum and dairy). We are able to pick you up from Levin or Otaki, if you are travelling by train or bus. We love music, art and movies!

Housework and animal care also involved.

We would prefer a pair of friends or couple (for company) but will consider a single.

If 2-3 people are interested we are willing to run our training cycle. (see the end of our profile).

I need some help with clearing and establishing a garden. The house is less than a year old but fully completed and furnished but the section is only partly developed.

In particular I need help with tree planting and ground preparation. If a helper has some carpentry skills then helping build garden boxes would be good.

There are other more domestic-like tasks such as washing down the outside of the house or cleaning windows and general help with cooking and cleaning.

Accommodation and meals are provided in exchange for four hours per day help.

I do not have pets and would prefer guests that do not smoke or have pets.

I have a twin room and a guest bathroom.

Martinborough in a small village in a wine growing district and there are some great coastal places to visit. Check out www.wairarapanz.com

Length of stay and help hours can be negotiated but initially a stay of 5-7 days would be most suitable.

Please contact me for more information.

April: We need a hand cleaning the house/windws and getting the harvest in, more preserving and making jam.

Converting some roosters into roast will be on the list somewhen but not everybody is up for that, so come and learn if you want to but we'll do it a different time if we have vegan visitors.

There is allways firewood to split, gardens to mulch and time for a bonfire.

May: Hopefully the soil will soften and we can start planting shelter belts (small bushes) and firewood.

We invite you to grow your own food, home school the kids, swim in the river, go fishing, tramping, mountain biking, to the beach/waterski park, support the household as well as lifestyle block and have fun with our family of four. Grandma is next door and I am a qualified yoga teacher if that is something you are interested in.

Accommodation can be in our self contained caravan (double glazed, heated and insulated, warmer than most NZ houses) or your camper/car/tent. You are welcome to have ... more inside

Hi,
We have a lovely 922ha farm, which includes some native bush (13ha is one block). We run 3600 sheep and 370 cattle. We need some help gardening, farming, fencing, firewood, housework, cooking and some baby sitting etc - there will be a variety of work. We are a young friendly farming couple with a 10month old baby (who sleeps all night). We have lots of animals, a horse to ride if you like, lots of nice places to walk/run. We will give you lots of opportunity to come out with us and shift our sheep and cattle on the hills. We have a newly renovated home for you to stay with us. We are not cert organic but try to farm as organically as possible. We use biological systems on our farm to try and create a healthy farm, for our animals and us. We are not vegetarians. We would like someone to come anytime now until the 15th or April - maybe longer. We can pick people up from Masterton and we are only about 1hour and 45min - 2hours from Wellington. You can catch a train from Welling... more inside

We have a lifestyle block in the sunny Manawatu, about 15 minutes from the city of Palmerston North, with a large garden. We have projects outside on the property that would be good to have help with, such as in the vege garden, stacking firewood, building paths, and general garden work.

We enjoy good food, and love to have people who love to cook for us. We also like to have help inside with housework and cleaning. For guests with specific skills, we can usually make a project to suit the person. Working hours vary according to what is going on, what the weather is like, and such - we are not slaves to the clock.

Both of us work from home and so we are generally around. We like to interact with travelers who come and stay with us. WIFI is limited. The bedroom is comfortable and the bed is cosy. No smokers please. We look forward to hearing from you.

We are a family of four (two small children) and we live on a lifestyle block in the beautiful Waiohine Valley. We like good food and fresh air. At the end of the road is an entrance to the Tararua Forest park for some great tramping/walking and a cool swing bridge across the river where there is great swimming. On our block we have a small herd of cattle and flock of sheep.
We are in the process of landscaping, developing an orchard, developing our vege garden and maintaining existing gardens.
We have a separate guest room with ensuite (shown in the photos). The accomodation best suits a couple. We are looking for guests to help with autumn planting, general farm routines and gardening (for an average of 4 hours per day) in exchange for food and accommodation.
We are 15 mins drive from Greytown and Carterton.
Non-smokers only please.
Please let us know if you have any special food requirements or allergies which might need to be considered during your stay.

Space available from 13 April. If you are keen on being part of building a Straw Bale house or just helping out with our animals and gardening, this is the place for you. We are a down to earth kiwi family of five who live on a unique block of land just an hour north of our creative capital Wellington.

We run a local tourist attraction by the name of Loco. A 1/4 acre of miniature railway running through themed surroundings in lush gardens. There is also a newly developed petting zoo which is getting lots of smiles.

We also have an organic garden which we use for ourselves and trade for local produce. We have also just started building our strawbale house and we would love some help.

You'll be accomodated in a cute retro caravan located a comfortable distance from the main house with has spectacular views of the ranges. You are also welcome to use the house at all times.

Most of the work we would ask you to do is in the garden, general weeding and tidying, some firewo... more inside
