If you love wildlife, the outdoors, great views and good food, send us an email (only emails from this site will be responded to). PLEASE CHECK OUT OUR WEB SITE LINKs ABOVE, they include some videos about what we are about. This is very much a cultural exchange (for us and for you) as you will be in our family home sharing our lifestyle.

NO SMOKERS OR VEGETARIANS PLEASE. We prefer our helpers to stay 2 weeks or more. Work outside is a major part of what we do so expect to be outside on a rural property as part of the experience.

The property is located 60km South of Brisbane and 20km West of the Gold Coast on the upper North slope of Mt Tamborine, 320m above sea level. We are surrounded by National Parks and abundant wildlife. The property is 8.35Ha with a sub-tropical climate and has great country views to the North up to 140km on a clear day.

We also have a tennis court (I will always give preference to tennis players who love to cook and eat great food), an outdoor ... more inside

Elli and Graham's home is a 19th Century wooden cottage in semi-rural surroundings. It has lots of natural timber floors and walls with a fine collection of period furniture. We are 2 minutes from train station and 50 minutes by train or 35 minutes by car to centre of Brisbane and 1 hour drive to Gold Coast. There are lots of nice walks and a sandy beach nearby and we have bikes for you. Catch a ferry to nearby Stradbroke Island to see dolphins, rays and turtles. [And whales in winter] We are an energetic couple who love reading and the house is full of books. We have a sailboat and sometimes we can offer a day out sailing. We like sharing different cultures and we're looking for people who are easygoing, nature lovers and non-smoking.We prefer one or two people for one to two weeks duration but we are flexible. We have several projects including renovating our home, [carpenter particularly welcome] painting the house and general help in garden. Brisbane, Queensland, Australia

Welcome travellers :)

You can stay for long or short term. We can take you for a minimum of one week as we prefer to really get to know you.

Longer term stay is preferred for a compatible person. There is a short trial period so both you and I together can decide if we will extend your stay.

You will enjoy our family home nestled in beautiful Australian rainforest just outside Brisbane. Our home is not in the city.

You will see wildlife, birds, reptiles, lots of nature and kangaroos.

Our home is 40 minutes drive to Brisbane city. There is no public transport, however, I drive to the outer suburbs a couple of times a week and can take you with me. From there you can catch many choices of public transport.

You will be staying with two of my best friends, two cats and me.

You get three meals a day and accommodation in exchange for four hours work a day. If you stay for a week you have one day off.

Your tasks are housework, c... more inside

I am looking for someone with the skills to build a stone staircase in the garden, a carpenter or someone who is hand with a drill, a painter decorator, landscape gardener, builder, or someone who has experience with website design or online marketing, to help with a small craft business.
I would require 4 hrs work per day weekends are free. Available is 1 bedroom with a queen size bed, balcony and private bathroom, meals included. I have unlimited WiFi.

Townsville is a tourist hub, with access to beach, mountains, reef, rainforest and bush. Cranbrook is a leafy suburb across the river from the university, close to Riverway (free freshwater swimming lagoon, with art gallery) and shops, and on the bus route. There are large trees around my house, and there is always gardening or raking to do.
Accommodation is either the granny flat with a fold out double bed (when available), or an upstairs bedroom with a single bed - share bathroom and kitchen - in exchange for gardening, maintenance, painting, cooking or housework. I used to breed and show dachshunds, but now my dogs are retired they like to oversee human pursuits like digging, weeding and walking. May assist with transport to local hiking spots, beach, or parks, or may be able to pick you up from train or bus station outside business hours. Prefer helpers who are non-smokers with family-friendly values, and able to work unsupervised when I go out. Also, Townsville is usu... more inside
