We have self catering tourism businesses in Aberfeldy and Pitlochry, Perthshire in the Scottish Highlands. We previously had a guesthouse and have hosted happy volunteers for a number of years!
We have just refurbished a beautiful old manse house next to Loch Tummel and are currently letting that out as well as our self catering lodges.
We currently need people to help with weekly changeovers.
We are also looking for volunteers with interior painting and building skills and for help with landscaping.

We are Tina and Norman, we are very adaptable, friendly and have run all aspects of our own small businesses for a long time now.
We have two daughters Kirsty, 26, Ailie, 25 and a son Calum who is 18. Our five dogs Whisky, Coco, Millie, Beauly and Tala are very friendly and popular with our Helpex guests.
Pitlochry and Aberfeldy are busy holiday villages in the Highlands. There are loads of outdoor activities and there are pubs, restaurants, a cinema and a distillery within ... more inside

UPDATE: The next space will be from October onwards. I regret that I am unable to host more than one HelpXer at a time unless you make a compelling case!

I am a professional photographer living in a (single-storey) cottage in the early 19th century conservation village of Charlestown built for lime workers by the Earl of Elgin on the banks of the River Forth. It is a friendly but quiet place, as is my home. (If you are a party animal, this is not the HelpX for you!) NON SMOKERS ONLY, please.

Jobs for an active, easy-going multi-tasker would include:
• sanding and painting interior and exterior
window frames
• dog walking
• joinery
• gardening - I would prefer someone with interest and experience in gardening, plants and vegetables. Weeding and general garden maintenance is always required.

Painting (and sanding down) is an important task: the inside and outside of the conservatory and exterior of a couple of sheds and fencing.

In addition, my HelpXers need to... more inside

We have an outdoor challenge events business which organises cycling, walking, kayaking and swimming events raising money for charity. We operate from a farmhouse on the shores of Loch Tay in Highland Perthshire where we also have airbnb accommodation. Our business is very seasonal so we need short term help over the busy months. We are looking for willing helpers to join our friendly family team. Due to the nature of our business no two days are the same around here. Staying with us best suits flexible and self motivated individuals or couples who love wild open spaces and could help either with the business or the running of the house/garden. We have three children aged between 8 and 12 and two springer spaniels. Due to our remote location (no public transport and no shops within walking distance) staying with us will give you a true highland experience in a stunning part of Scotland and a taste of scottish rural life. This is the third season we have hosted helpx friends... more inside

We’re looking for some volunteers, ideally couples or pairs of friends (individuals are welcome too) to help with our various projects this winter. These are mainly site maintenance, painting and general tidying/cleaning. Being handy with a paint brush and good at DIY would be great, a background in maintenance would be extremely helpful.

Comrie Croft is an award winning eco-campsite, mountain bike centre, group accommodation and wedding venue set on a 230-acre estate in rural Perthshire. We are a more than profit business who are working hard to achieve our vision of rural regeneration and getting back to our crofting roots.

Our estate is home to a large steading, cosy farm house, barn/cow shed event space, 7 Nordic Kata’s (kind of like a tipi), meadow and woodland camping pitches and some of the best compact downhill mountain biking trails in Scotland. Also on site are a few small businesses who share our passion, Tomnah’a Market Garden, The Tea Garden (café) and The Fa... more inside

IMMEDIATE START!

We are a family of four live in a large house with gorgeous garden, loch and small farm and we are looking to diversify and set up a business at home. We are looking for someone or a couple to work alongside us from September onwards, ideally for a couple of months but less time also an option!

We have a never ending lists of jobs to do such as helping in the garden, weeding the loch, logs to prepare for the Winter, painting a fishing hut, copious washing and hosting friends amd families staying over the summer. Our two daughters are great little helpers too! Grandad lives in a flat attached to the house and Granny lives in a house by the loch.

We are trying to establish appropriate new business ventures for our small holding and have a few projects underway. We would like 1 or 2 people, or a couple, to come and experience life at The Lagg. Last summer we hosted a couple from Pamplona who were a huge success and we helped them improve their English enou... more inside

This hostel is on the edge of the world. If you like it elemental -then this is the place for you. Situated on our working croft with its flock of black sheep, we are at the north end of Iona and just across the grass to the sea. In the distance are the islands of Staffa, Rum and Skye. It is a stunningly beautiful place.

The Hostel takes the environment and energy conservation seriously: we hold a 'Gold' Green Tourism Business Award and have an STB 4 Star rating. We have been voted best eco-hostel in Scotland.

We are currently looking for helpers around the hostel and croft.

In the hostel we are sticklers for cleanliness. It's hard work but there is lots of time to relax and enjoy the island. Outside we also need help with maintenance around the croft and garden. If you have practical skills and enjoy variety, then all the better.

We love helpers with a happy and outgoing approach to life, who can work hard and enjoy socialising with our guests.

Thank for taking th... more inside

The Erraid Community is a small island off the Isle of Mull (Inner Hebrides) and part of the Findhorn Foundation Community. As a spiritual land-based community we live and work together as custodians of the island and cottages that were built for a lighthouse community in the 1860s.

Our life is very practical whilst living with spiritual principles.
Our main role here as custodians of the island is to maintain the cottages and outbuildings. This involves: painting, carpentry, plumbing, electrical, maintaining the many sash windows, metal work, fencing and much more. Our second priority is keeping our aim of trying to live off the land as much as we can, we have organic gardens, two poly-tunnels, many chickens and will hopefully soon have our own dairy cow.

We are currently looking for work exchange to fill four roles:

A) Maintenance - This role will be to help with maintaining the cottages in the aforementioned ways. This is our highest priority and we will always have ... more inside

We are a family run organic fruit and veg smallholding which is based in the Midlothians of Scotland just on the outskirts of edinburgh. We grow organic veg for our box delivery scheme and flowers which we sell at the weekly farmers market in Edinburgh. Help required would include weeding, quite a lot of that!, helping with the flowers, picking and possibly selling at the market, maybe some general maintenance.

This is a 5 acre walled garden. We have hens and goats and a ball crazy collie who loves to play.

We are looking for friendly people to help us, working 5 days a week, around 5 hours a day. Accommodation would be a caravan on our grounds, with self catering facilities. Food will be provided. There are regular buses from Dalkeith and Pathhead into Edinburgh. Please contact us if this sounds of interest to you.

At the moment we have space for 2 extra volunteers. Let us know if you are interested.
