We have just started a multifunction business in our small community just about in the middle of Lappland. Our base is an old schools building where most of the activities are to take place. These include handcrafts, artistic creation, gardening, traditional agriculture like reindeerhearding, sustainable environmental development, social work and healthcare. As we also include natural economy in our practices we also do fishing, hunting and gathering, which are still predominant in the area. We are gladly involved in local community projects. For now one of the main projects is repairing and renovating the newly aqcuired building, so there is plenty of work.
One of our numerous functions is to invite people to come and stay with us and exchange skills and knowledge and inetarct in the local community. Another is to help further a local bioenergy project. We also have enough room to to offer guesthouse type accomodationto both paying and work exchange guests.

We are a family of five (mum, dad and three kids (born in 2010, 2012 and 2015)) living in Eastern Finland on an old historical farm. Here we run a business in agriculture, forestry and tourism. We have rental cottages for tourists and smoke sauna area for arranging functions by a lake. At the moment we are concentrating on sustainable tourism at our lakeside area. In our gardens we grow fruit, berries and some vegetables for our own use. In the summertime we also have sheep on our fields.

Our farm is located in a small village not too far from the Russian border. The closest shops are seven kilometers away, while Joensuu, the closest bigger city, is 60 km away. There isn't really public transportation, but we will take you to places every now and then, if needed.

Here at our place you can do activities such as cycling, hiking, swimming in a lake or rowing a boat. The lake Tohmajärvi is only 500 meters from our house and our place is surrounded by beautiful landscapes, so en... more inside

We are four person family, sheep, chickens and cat. Parents we are craftsmen in various fields and art is an important part of both work. We cherish old traditions and organic living in all our efforts. The area where we live is old and the village of Skogäng has been inhabited for hundreds of years. We have rebuild the 100v. old cowshed as workshops and as guest accommodations. Traditional Finnish loghouse we built 2010 as our home at next to it. The loghouse shows different types of craftsmanship, almost everything is handmade. In the garden we grow herbs, onions, salads, etc. Every year the garden expands and we get more and more food from there. We eat organic food.

We would like to get help for taking care of animals, building and repairing of sheep fences and normal house hold.

We also need help in the building work. We are glad if you have the skills and interest in your hands. You will get guidance and advice from us, and most of the time you will work together with J... more inside

This is a permaculture learning center and an eco-village to be starting from the scratch. Sharing life and knowledge.
From May to September we are prepared to host 3-4 hardcore volunteers used to camping conditions. Basic skill needed: handling an ax and a bill, (preferably a chainsaw too), starting a fire in the oven. Minimum stay 2 months. (Shorter visits possible on special request for serious permaculture people only!) we host volunteers, but due to our past experiences do NOT arrange internships for students. If you are enthusiastic about living in the nature, permaculture, sustainable cultural heritage, natural- and traditional building, sociocracy, talking circles, singing and jamming together, edible and medical herbs, forest garden, fermenting, terra preta... this is your chance! We start by building terra preta urinals, compost toilets, temporary sauna by the lake, cellars, outdoor kitchen, greenhouses, lean-to shelters in the forest and by the lake. This is an old farm ... more inside

Hello!

We are a Finnish family living with the renovation project of an old school building. Our family is Antti and Antje, and the children Touko 11, Louna 8, Loviisa 6 and Akseli 4 years old.

Our house is close to the biggest lake of Finland, Saimaa (100m walk) and surrounded by forest. The next bigger city Lappeenranta is around 25 km away and the nearest shop about 8 km. In the free time you can enjoy the lake-side nature: swim, paddle, row, hike or bike.

The help we would need is to carry fire wood, make snow works or gardening, warm up the house, playing with the children etc. We always have some renovation job as well. If you are an artist or a craftsman, you would be interested to work in the forge or in the metal art workshop.

To join this project, please, write to us and ask for more information!

We have a petting zoo(with nearly 300 animals) and a cafe in the spectacular Lapland scenery in the Ylläs Äkäslompolo. We arrange for example riding lessons, horseback riding and horse sleigh rides. We are looking for animal husbandry, horseback riding instructors, cafe workers or even caretakers for our children and normal house holding. Minimum stay should be one month but you can stay longer. Living in the cottage with other helpers or in nice and cosy van.

The farm is surrounded by the beautiful nature of Lapland, stunning ski slopes as well as cross-country skiing trails, snowshoeing trails and fine hiking trails in the summer as well as waterways for canoeing.

See more from our website!

If you think that taking care of animals is just petting them or always nice and easy... please skip.

HoX! Now we are looking for helpers starting from July 'till autumn and next winter.

We have a log home in a beautiful hill station in Lapland. We have a yurt in the forest near by that has to be warmed up and taking care of. And plough snow. I give sound healing there and it will be used for women circles and other small happenings around healing, coming together and creating a place for everybody to be seen and heard.
We plan to have chickens on the coming summer, starting to build it up in June, and need help for that. Also making a greenhouse.
Now the jobs are warming up the yurt and taking sometimes care of my three years old, social and joyful son.
This area is an old old holy place, and Pyhä-Luosto national park is next to. A lot of nature to be seen and experienced.
