We are slowly taking over our two acre field, not really a farm as such, we have a veg patch, fruit trees. Jobs with which we need help include fencing, hole digging, planting, some help with the house renovations from time to time. Le Batut is a very small hamlet in the department of Aveyron in S.W France. We are proponents of permaculture and are trying to develop the property along permaculture principles. We are looking for somebody to help on outside projects whilst I renovate the inside of the house. There is a Room in the house which is habitable (we, Ian Jess Jamie (6) and Lian (3) stay in the caravan near the house) We are there from mid June to end August, it is very rural, twenty mins walk to nearest village, volunteer would have use of a bike though it is very hilly! 10/15 min drive to large town with all the usual.

People wanted to help me out renovating my village house, former presbytery, in Midi-Pyrenees, south-west France, from spring 2011. Nearest big town Toulouse, I'm in small hamlet 16 km from nearest rail station and 10 km from nearest small town (more like large village), so best if you're driving or bringing a bicycle.

All sorts of tasks to do, could include: taking down last few ceilings, knocking plaster off beams/stonework, repointing/plastering with cob/earthen plaster, repairing fireplaces, laying floors using old boards, repairing/fitting window frames, sanding/staining/polishing woodwork, upholstering sprung sofas/armchairs/chairs, and for those mechanically inclined, doing a bit of work on my 'voiturette' to get it on the road - this list isn't exhaustive, and there's work for both experienced and inexperienced volunteers, so don't hesitate to contact me as long as you're willing.

Accommodation in the house, best to regard as camping, as very basic - however, there'... more inside

We are a French/Belgian family, installed since 2001 in this property, ideally located, for calm and nature, at 80Km to Toulouse, 65km to Tarbes, 40km to Auch, 45 min to the Pyrénées & Spain boarder and 2 hours to either Atlantic ocean or Mediterranean. We are breeding horses (10), horse riding & horse driving. I am orientated "Natural Horse man ship".
We also have +/- 10 goats for personal cheese making. We have chosen to enjoy the "Nature & environment" as lifestyle, so we are doing everything to improve the way of leaving but without any business spirit.
The Help wanted, would highly appreciate help on Home building, roofing, but could be also anything such as Farming, Horse training/cleaning, house keeping, Gardening, wood cutting, .....make your choice... any courageous and self motivated person will be welcome, and this all year round

This place was built around 1630 and was a grain and threshing mill until around 40 years ago. We bought it 5 years ago and although the mill is fully habitable will modern appliances the land and barn are still a work in progress - as is re-building the canal wall and installing a new water turbine to convert the property into a fully eco friendly lodge.

We do not live at the property full time although it is usually occupied with friends and family. We are seeking some able bodied individuals with time, energy (skills are a bonus) to help with the ongoing project in return for board and lodging in this wonderful property. We are flexible and happy to discuss any ideas. The mill sleeps 8-10 at full capacity. Details of the property can be found on our website.

If you are interested in spending some time at the mill in return for working on the ongoing renovations please get in touch.

Cheers, A&A

I am renovating my property that is in a beautiful rural area surrounded by farms and country. I intend to refit a terrace (wooden) and do some decorating. There is a courtyard and to the rear a garden, with a separate piece of land, you can sunbathe on, (if the grass is cut!) Maybe plant a melon or two!
If you feel you have the skills, I can offer you accomodation that consists of a large bedroom with 1 double bed, and a single bed. Property includes kitchen and bathroom with bath and shower. Take a look at my website and ignore the 'for sale' detail.
