I am a 41 year old steiner teacher with a 5 year old son. We live in a lovely home in a friendly community. Totnes,an alternative Devon market town is a few miles away. There is a beautiful walking/cycle path all the way into town and regular buses 2 minutes walk. What I am looking for is the opportunity to meet new people and share space as well as support with household tasks and gardening and painting. I am particularly looking for a woman who enjoys being around children and who may want participate at times with childcare.

• WORK AVAILABLE FROM MID-SEPTEMBER 2016
• Minimum preferred stay of 3 weeks but we can be flexible either way
• We would expect you to do odd jobs, some housework and garden work when the weather is decent.
• We would look for 20 hours per week, delivered flexibly to suit both parties.
• We would provide you with plenty breakfast food. Because we are asking for fewer hours in return for the place, we would expect you to arrange your own lunch and evening meals.
• In return you get a really nice caravan (you can find it on Airbnb) with wi-fi, mains electric, gas hob and your own mains private bathroom and shower plus shed with additional facilities. The caravan is suitable for one person or a couple… or 2 friends who don’t mind sharing a cosy double bed !

We are a friendly family of 6, living in rural Sussex. We have 6 acres from where we live and work, we have 2 charity ponies, chickens and 2 friendly dogs There are buses – but not too many !- to the nearest town ... more inside

This is a very busy guest accommodation business with an excellent reputation. It is set in a very tranquil location with stunning views on the southern edge of Bodmin Moor, and boardering farmland. Helpers would be required to 'muckin' and help with all general housekeeping duties accompanying the running of the business. Laundry, cleaning, making beds etc. There is also much needed help internally and externally with house maintenance and gardening. Would suit people who love rural living

There are a number of renovation jobs happening on the farm at the moment as we are renovating a cottage and there is a lot cleanup work gardening required. Also support in the house with meals, childcare and housekeeping is always very helpful.
Old Farm is a small unimproved lakeland farm, which has been in the family since 1954. It is located 1.5 miles from the nearest village, Hawkshead, a pleasant half an hour walk or short bike ride away. Three generations live on the farm now, Lisa, daughter Becky, son-in-law Mike and three small children. We keep ponies, shetland sheep for meat and wool, goats for milk and a few hens. Produce from the animals is sold direct to customers as well as at local fairs and markets.
Although uncertified, we follow organic and biodynamic principles when we can, using predominantly hand tools and human power to get jobs done. Walling, scything, fencing, mucking out, goat milking in March after kids are due, log splitting, gardening and general anima... more inside

This is a big shared house which is being gradually renovated in as lovely and eco a way as possible.

We welcome volunteers usually for about a week at a time over the summer. Tasks could include building a greenhouse, re-lining the pond, painting windows, or installing insulation, or coppicing trees, depending on weather, skills and inclination.

When you visit there may be between 2 and 8 other people about; it may be quiet or with lovely big shared meals. We're an easy 15 min bus ride into the cultural centre of Sheffield, and 45 minutes through to the beautiful Peak District.

We've no reviews yet as we've just started using HelpX but we've hosted people before and they've enjoyed being here. Anyway, please take a look at the website and get in touch with questions and your availability!

Taking helpers Autumn 2016
We've recently moved into an old house on the edge of a small town in SW England. It needs work - painting, carpentry, construction, so men are preferred for 2-4 weeks. We also need someone who is good with marketing ebooks, editing and drawing.
You will have a comfortable room and great food and wifi. The town has all amenities and is on the main railway line to London.
There will be plenty of trips out to surrounding towns and countryside. Stonehenge is about 30 mins away by car.
I should point out that we do NOT cater for vegetarians or anyone who has particular dietary needs. Tell us if there's anything you don't eat.

Here are some reviews from helpers at our house in Spain:-

Well I don't know where to begin. Mike and John were two of the nicest people I have ever met. I had been 6 months away from home when I arrived in Galicia but I never felt homesick once with them.
The work was very doable. Any gar... more inside
