We are a couple close to sixty. I am retired from the National Education and my husband Benoît Lechevallier is a cabinetmaker marquetry graduate of Ecole Boulle. We lived in Paris for a long time before we went in Calvados in Normandy in 2006. We are looking for help to maintain, restore and improve the mill of Saint Gabriel that we bought in 2010 and which is listed in the inventory of the industrial heritage of Calvados. We have already restored the house which is spatious (300 m2) We have 2 beautiful guest rooms approved by the Gites de France on the 1st floor and can accommodate our Helpx helpers on the 2nd floor. We produce hydroelectricity. We have created an AMAP (Association for the Maintenance of Farming Agriculture) which is a short distribution circuit for certified organic farming products. We work for the safeguarding and valorization of the mills which constitute the 3rd heritage in France after castles and churches. The heritage of mills offers many cultural and envi...

Hello, we’re Reinhold (49) and Karen (50) and we are your hosts on “All life is Made of StarDust” Art & Permaculture Community Project.
At the beginning of the new millennium we left our art farm in Belgium and started an organic garden in the south of France. Now we escaped out of the grinder of parenthood (only joking ;-)), and free at last we’re ready to pick up the artistic way of life once more.
Karen has experience as an actor and singer, trained classical guitarist. Reinhold played the bass in an avant garde rock band The Ludoos, he painted hundreds of tribal paintings on canvas, hardboard and handmade paper, thousands of pages poetry and short stories.
In 2019 we would like to start an artist residency program for professionals, emerging or established artists here on the semi-isolated and rural permaculture farm located in the idyllic hills of the Volvestre, Midi Pyrenees region.
The farm consist of several buildings, there is the old farmhouse built ...

I am a mother of two children, 6 and 9 years old, looking for some support in my activities.
I was involved in unschooling but i had to stop. (see Peter Gray 's research and facebook page if you have never heard about).
I choose food mainly raw and organic, as much a i can. I am vegetarian.
I offer accommodation and time to improve your French. I love to sing, to paint, to play by improvisation with piano. If you play guitar I wish to learn.
I need to rest and share some routine activities and enthousiasm. I need to be helped to create my new job as i stopped to raise my two children. They live part time with me and their father.
I would like some help to grow some vegetables in a so called "jardin partagé" on a field which belong to our local community.
I have experience to share about home birth without epidural with a midwife, about breast feeding, about Montessori approach towards child development about schools such as Sudbury or Summerhill.
I w...

Having been a volunteer myself on various organic farms and homes, I feel it is my turn to open my home to travelers. I'm 26yo living on my family's property.
The property has various outbuildings, chickens, a large greenhouse, a vegetable patch, fruit trees and generally just a huge garden to play with. You would be hosted in a wooden chalet, where I live with housemates. It's a friendly environment and a creative one too!
Activities vary here: 1)We're in the middle of renovating an old barn. At the moment, I need all hands on deck to clear the space! It's filled with wooden furniture, some to be turned into fire wood others to be cleaned off and stored.
2)We're creating a sustainable garden, playing with the digger to shape the land, planting trees, preparing the beds for next spring, sewing seeds, turn over compost heap, fix the greenhouse and also prepare the beds, weeding, watering, cutting old branches etc...
3)we've got a couple of workshops, with all the tools...

The chateau was acquired to form the base for a small community focused on developing and supporting a range of new technologies. The site is connected to the Global Change Foundation, an organisation that supports new technology initiatives and other projects designed to assist humanity in moving forward in these challenging times. We have been running a very pleasing 'visiting community' experiment here for several years, getting the site set up and ready, doing repairs and some new facilities - and generally getting used to living and working together. We have met a lot of great HelpX volunteers, and a much has been achieved by them! Oh yes, and we have a reputation for near-gourmet food, so you won't go hungry! AND NOTE: the leaking roof (mentioned in one of our last reviwers comments) has now been fixed (needing 80 new slates!)and so things have dried out.
In exchange for bed and board we are looking for willing people with any combination of skills: be you a good gardener, ...

A little garden, a little home outside a little village in the beautiful Corbieres mountains. I live practicaly always outdoors. I share my food (vegetarian), my outdoor kitchen and my living space. I buy as little as possible, growing most of what I eat myself. I believe in home made life. Homemade mayo, bread, beer (if I had enough space to bottle it) and whatever else we have the ingredients for. Do not worry you'll eat plenty. You can even eat meat and cook it if you provide it.
My outdoor house is nestled in my garden that explodes with flowers and vegetables. I can't bring myself to kill a pretty flower. Your sleeping accomodation will be in a greenhouse tent in the middle of the garden separate from the kitchen and my trailer. There is internet and a hot shower that is accesible nextdoor from my land lord.
I am not a slave driver. I mostly need a third hand in my lovely garden and someone whith a driver's licence. I have a van but no driver's licence. I want to take off...

Bonjour!
We are Dalila (French), Pete (English), Emilie (8 1/2 years old) and Sidney (5 1/2 years old). Our place is an old chateau set in 29 acres of meadow, in the Pyrenees mountains, 1h30 south of Toulouse.
We'd love you to help us with: - Splitting wood for heating next winter - Stacking wood - Tidying up the vegetable patch (weeding, turning soil, etc...) - Clearing up the barn - Painting windows
Looking for practical and hard-working people, who enjoy physical work and being outdoors. We need people who can chainsaw and split wood, as this will be the main bulk of help we require... You should be fairly independent and comfortable around children as our kids will love interacting with you!
About us: We've finished renovating the interior of the chateau in 2009, and with sustainability in mind, installed solar panels for hot water, photovoltaic panels for electricity, rain water collection, composting. We're using our own wood for cooking and heating in th...
