. We have dairy farm located in a beautiful valley south of thames. At present we need fit people to help with milking, gardening, painting and general farm work. In exchange for 4 to 6 hours work per day we offer a shared house with basic food. The area is great as a base for exploring the wider area especially the Coromandel. Roughly 1 1/2 hours to rotorua, waitomo caves. Wonderful bush walks etc within walking distance of the farm. In return for the work we believe that our farm offers travellers the chance to experience the culture of a fully working dairy farm. We are up a no exit road so there is no public transport. Experienced horse riders an advantage

Our land is 5 acres of regenerating bush and developing food forest in the Kauaeranga Valley, close to Thames. We are committed to developing our land to provide us with food, firewood and clean water. We have established large vegetable gardens and fruit and nut tree orchards. There are beehives and chickens on our property. We have 2 young children whom we homeschool and we also work from home. (Software development and we also sell "Extractigators" which are tools for removing gorse). We seek help with our gardens, firewood, weed management and building projects, as well as seasonal tasks of harvesting, preserving and processing food. We sometimes need help with building maintenance, painting, cleaning and those who enjoy playing with kids are welcomed. We're happy to share our knowledge and always have something interesting on the go - fermenting, winemaking, seed saving, grafting, cooking, developing our skills with appropriate technology. We love to meet enthusiastic helpers... more inside

Hi there

We are looking for cool people who can wield a shovel and aren't afraid of a little hard work to do four hours of work a day in our garden.

In exchange we can offer you a delicious vegetarian dinner each night, some things to make lunch and breakfast with, and a lovely queen bed with a bathroom to yourself and an amazing view. A second guest bedroom is also available. We are a 5 minute walk to the beach for plenty of swimming and there are also numerous walks in the area to visit.

Please get in touch if interested :-)

Nga mihi

I own a 15 acre lifestyle farm overlooking the sea at Kuaotunu on the beautiful Coromandel Peninsula. I have 7 Alpaca, 4 heifers, 2 miniature cattle, 1 cat and 1 dog. I am developing 2 glamping sites which I hope to have running by the summer. I would like help to complete these sites and to care for the gardens, grounds and animals. I offer accommodation in a small caravan with chemical toilet and 3 good meals per day in return for 4-5 hours work per day that you are with me. If you wish to work a full 8 hour day and have a full day off, I will do my best to accommodate that.
The property has stunning close views of the sea and islands, a pa site (a high hill where there was once a fortified maori village)and is just a few minutes walk down to the beach. Kuaotunu village is very small but is in a beautiful location with a general store, a hairdresser and a very cool rustic beach shack style café - Lukes Kitchen - which has excellent coffee, wood fired pizzas and other food and o... more inside
