We would love to share our little piece of paradise with you. The sea and countryside views and tranquil setting offers you the chance to enjoy our rural property which is only 15 minutes from the centre of New Plymouth and 5 minutes drive to the beach.

While your own car would be helpful, we drive to town daily so could assist with rides when we are already heading into town, or there is a limited bus service from the end of the road (25 minutes walk).

As a busy family with 3 children (7, 5 and 2) we have lots of everyday work around the house, in the garden and some general work planting trees and cutting gorse.

We are mostly looking for help with outside work and work around the house, such as mowing lawns, cleaning, cooking etc. We are happy to be flexible so you can have whole days free to walk in the National Park or explore the region.

We have both lived overseas and enjoyed travelling lots, prior to having children and returning to New Zealand. We like meeting n... more inside

**BOOKED UNTIL JULY. SORRY!**

Kia Ora!
Welcome!

We are a friendly family of four, with a dog and two cats, and 1 chicken, living on a quarter of an acre. Jarrod works night shift, Nikki teaches preschool Montessori and our boys are teenagers. Jarrod and Nikki met on a year exchange in Sweden and have enjoyed hosting students from around the world over the past twenty years.

This house was the first property to be built on Budleigh Street in the late 60's and was therefore allowed to sit within Shepard's Park reserve, which surrounds us on three sides. We purchased this property in the last year and are working at restoring the gardens. (Apparently, Florence, the previous owner, was a tremendous gardener but in the past ten years the garden escaped her care.) We are working at planting an organic veggie garden, and fruit trees. We would also like to develop a 'food forest' and 'tropical garden' to complete our sustainable garden design.

We are trying to recycle and re... more inside

Established for 40 years on this site for 22 years. We are in the Taranaki Heart Land East of Stratford.

We are a Rarebreed stud farm, farming all classes of stock - sheep, cattle, pigs, goats, ducks, chooks, horses, donkeys and more. We grow pip and stone heritage trees, veg and berries for home use and market.
We are heavily into self sufficiency and do all we can ourselves.

We sell weekly at the Farmers Market ,as well as this we run courses on all kinds of things relating to farming and self reliance.
In the future we intend to have more paying tourists, for trekking nature visits, etc.
We are very busy but there are never two days the same.

We exchange help for board and food like wwoof etc. The food is mostly from the farm and you can self cater or have shared meals depending on our work load and time of year etc. We may have a project we are working on that may change the way we work. We are very easy to get on with.

If you are interested in livestock, self re... more inside

FULLY BOOKED UNTIL 4th JANUARY
Looking for independent active travellers that enjoy the outdoors and are motivated morning people, we start early.

Welcome we love meeting travellers and have travelled extensively ourselves.

Our farm is 23kms/30mins north of New Plymouth at Huirangi. There is no public transport, bikes are available. We don't go in to town often so having your own transport would be an advantage. Though we can pick you up on arrival and drop you back into town when you leave. We enjoy taking you out and about to explore the area and do some hiking too, it will depend on our workload and how long you are staying. Prefer you to stay at least one week.

At the farm we live in a shed (one room) so the accommodation is in our campervan (see photo's). Toilet & hot shower is outside. Though the accommodation is basic, the view is wonderful. It is a beautiful place. We will provide good meals.

We try to be good hosts and in return we expect you to join us in... more inside

Hello!

No help required at this time thanks.

We (Suzanne and David) are a couple in our late 40s with 2 kids who are away at university. We have a 1/3 acre property in a residential area of New Plymouth, just 2 kilometres from the centre of town and within walking distance of a safe swimming beach and the coastal walkway.

We have recently completed studies in Organic Horticulture so are developing a permaculture garden. So far we have planted an orchard and made and planted raised garden beds. We have a couple of chickens, but no other pets or livestock.

Future projects include installing a rainwater collection tank, building a permanent chicken coop and maintaining the existing gardens.

I work Monday to Friday and my interests are reading and cooking. David is at home and is into hunting, fishing and cooking. We try to eat seasonally, from our garden where possible. David also brews beer and makes wine. I make Kombucha.

Accommodation is in our home. We can host ... more inside

A nice family home near the sea in New Plymouth. We welcome travelers who would like to help in the garden and do some housework or cooking plus walk our dog on the beach and be part of what we do each day. We enjoy sharing this part of the world with appreciative open minded people. I'm an ocean scientist and I travel a lot, and have two sons who are home during the university holidays. There is one other person living with us and one dog. Nearby the surf beach is pretty good and we have surfboards to loan. There is a spare room with two beds for helpers.

We have a 4 Ha block of land about 20 minute drive away. Helpers keen to plant trees, weed riparian areas, mend the fence etc are very welcome.

We have a self contained unit which is part of our house and live at a beach. We are looking to host a couple or a single person in exchange of gardening, painting and other jobs around our home. Our expectations are we will supply the accommodation and meals for four hours of work a day per person.

We run a motel and backpackers. We have an organic vegetable garden and are planning to plant the back 2 acre field, using permaculture philosophies.
We both work full time as teachers and often need a hand to keep on top of chores around the place.
-weeding
-planting
-household chores
-walking the dog
-interior painting(including murals if inclined)

We provide accommodation in either the lodge or the self contained cottage. Full kitchen facilities and utensils are available. We would prefer if helpers cooked for themselves, as we are often home late, and worked less hours: 1-2per day.
