Our mainland island used to be a large sheep station but we have now let it go back to nature. A major activity apart from our conservation work is catering for visitors who come to get closer to nature in a wild and beautiful place. Work can be looking after those guests, helping with correspondence schooling, home duties or maintaining our track system and other infrastructure, depending on the season.

We (Adrian & Jo) have a small family owned vineyard and wine company. We are in the Waihopai Valley, 23km from Blenheim.
Our two younger boys are at university, so they are away studying for much of the year. At present our boys are away, so we have a room with two single beds available.
We live in a 150 year old school house and have one very friendly dog.
At present we require help with picking and cleaning up fruit in the vineyard work and gardening.
We enjoy meeting young people from other countries and showing them our part of the world. This is a popular tourist destination, which includes the Marlborough Sounds, many good walking tracks and a good place to cycle. We have a range of bicycles available and go to town by car regularly.

We're mulching blueberries, thinning feijoas and general orchard work. If you want to get involved with an organic orchard and see how we make a living give us a yell.
Accommodation is in the "blueberry cottage,' a simple self-contained flat that is part of the packhouse across the lawn from our house. It has two bedrooms, a bathroom, a kitchen/dining room, computer and wifi, plus there's accommodation in the caravan.I stock the kitchen with good ingredients and between those and the orchard/gardens you assemble your own breakfast. We start at 8.30am and work for four hours. I make lunch at the house for everyone, and your afternoons are your own. I'll keep the larder stocked with whatever food you like, we don't eat much meat but can supply it, mostly you'll make your own dinners but when time and energy allows it we have dinner together at the house. We have bikes for your use and are surrounded by wineries, or there's always the hammock for a nap... To make things easier for ... more inside

Hi there!

Experienced Horse Person required late April/May..

We run a huge historic and stately home in the Awatere Valley, south of Blenheim, that has been refurbished as a Lodge/Guest House. It has 6 rooms available for guests.

In May we rarely have guests staying but looking for a person who has horse experience and who can assist with feeding and rugging 4 horses - exercising too if experienced and a little light house and gardening work.

Would envisage 2-3 week stay for the right person.

As we are 25kms from Blenheim it is advisable that you have your own car so you can also go sight seeing AND you will need your own internet access.

We offer you your own room, friendly company even more friendly animals and beautiful surrounds!!

Please contact us if you are interested.

Hello Traveller!
We are not currently seeking helpers. We will update our page when we are able to provide work and accommodation.

We're located in Endeavour Inlet, right on the 70km Queen Charlotte Track/Te Araroa Trail, in Marlborough, where there are no roads, no cars. If you enjoy nature and relative isolation, you'll love our slice of paradise. We are surrounded by native forest and pristine bays. You can arrive via water taxi (departing from Picton) or walk the Track to reach us. Once you're here you'll have free meals and accommodation during your stay.

Our preference is for a mature, independent individual, prepared to work 4 hrs with us in the morning, and share cooking the evening meals. The rest of the day is yours to explore the surroundings. You can borrow one of our kayaks or just relax. You will have your own bedroom either in the house with access to wifi, or a separate sleep out with composting loo. We have a small organic garden and much of our meat is al... more inside

We are on a small farm with sheep and cattle, chooks, dogs and 2 horses. There is also a large variety of bird life as the farm borders Lake Elterwater. We are 6km from the sea, very close to State Highway 1, and 3km from the township of Ward which has a café/post office. We are just 1 hour from Picton to the north and Kaikoura to the south. The local coastline is rugged and scenic, and there are good walks in the nearby hills. We would welcome some help with a variety of work on the farm and in the garden.

We are a couple in our 60's living on a beautiful rural property just north of Blenheim. We have a small engineering business here plus a vineyard planted in Pinot Gris which we maintain ourselves and this is rather labour intensive from October to February. We have a few sheep, some hens and two cats. We try to be self sufficient as much as possible so have many fruit trees, and large vegetable gardens. Our house is modern and includes two spare rooms complete with a spare bathroom.
Helping here would be a pleasant experience because you would be fed well and treated kindly. Jobs are many and varied, depending on the time of year. Mostly, however it would be helping in the vineyard, or keeping the vege garden and section tidy. I have recently started propagating plants to sell so that also provides things to do.As my husband is the engineer and I am the "land girl" helping would not involve anything that I wouldn't normally do myself !! Hours would be approx 5 a day.Demand is seaso... more inside

We run a family camp and like to have a low impact on our environment. Mostly organic. We are keen gardeners and are working to get the camp up to a better standard. Beautiful location with a lovely river. We require a helper to help us run the camp for three weeks from mid March to the first week of April. We would offer accomodation at the house in a caravan and cabins when they’re available. We offer good conditions and will supply food. We will be working so we need someone to keep an eye on the camp and look after our nice dogs.
