Looking for someone to start as soon as possible for 1-2 weeks (maybe longer)

My 2 children (age 16 & 17), 11 hens & I live in a 5 bedroom house (building site) with a large garden & lovely views. We need someone to help with the weeding and other gardening when the weather is fine & do some housework and DIY when it's not. If you have any skills in painting & decorating, we could really use them right now. In return you'll be well fed as we love cooking and baking!

You will need to be fit & strong, like hard work & preferably know the difference between a weed & a (wanted) plant. A good dash of common sense will also go a long way. Must be a non smoker & I am afraid that I cannot host vegans. Either a single person or a couple is welcome.

We particularly love Kiwis, Australians & French speakers but if you're neither, you're still very welcome!

We live 10 minutes walk away from the local railway station which can take you to the bigger cities such as Leeds and Manch... more inside

Hello,

**Looking for someone to join us in January and stay 6-9 months***

We are a family of five in west London who need help looking after our home and our three energetic children (Ferdie 7, Gus 5, Clemmie 2). The older two are at school so the main job is looking after Clemmie and helping around the house as well as evening babysitting (1-2 nights max). We would offer to pay pocket money for 30hrs of your time a week (monday to friday)

We spend lots of time in local parks, playing football, at the library. Taffeta works from home and Freddy is a journalist.

We live in a fantastic location for exploring London and the rest of the UK. You would have your own room with an ensuite bathroom. We live in a terraced house with a garden.

We look forward to hearing from you

We live in a London flat, but have a big garden, with a cabin in it (warm, with bathroom) and no time to manage the garden. We would like to get some shape on it for next spring, and would like someone with landscaping experience but also carpentry skills, as we would also like to build a new kitchen, fix fencing and jobs like that. We won't, therefore, be seeking help until spring 2018. We have hosted many Air BNB guests in the cabin, but right now we would also love some extra help around the home. We are in Zone 2 in London and just minutes from a station, so for anyone wanting to enjoy some time in London, this is perfect. We are Irish and have lived in London for years. A Spanish speaker would be amazing to help our teenage son learn the language too, but we welcome all nationalities of course.

Our 17th century farmhouse is home to Piers, Sue, three young people aged 17-21 (two are away at university), two house cats and a small, very friendly dog. Our optimum stay length is two or three weeks and we have vacancies in Spring 2018.

We offer helpxers comfortable accommodation in a prime tourist area, excellent food and a genuine welcome, in return for seriously hard work.

Our home is within sight of the sea in an Area of Outstanding Natural Beauty. There are shingle beaches to walk to and steep-sided sandy coves easily reachable by bike (although the roads are hilly!). South Devon is an enormously popular tourist destination from Easter to October, when it earns its reputation as the sunniest part of England.

We moved here six years ago and have established a multi-award-winning business running stylish, comfortable self-catering holiday cottages. We live on site in the main farmhouse, where we accommodate helpxers in cosy, clean guest rooms. You will have your own ... more inside

We have moved into some barns which we converted half into a home and half into an engineering workshop. We are surrounded by spectacular countryside with opportunity for walking and cycling. You would have lots of opportunity to meet people as there are always friends and family visiting so it is a fantastic place to practice english. There is a train station 3 miles away. We have four lovely children aged 9, 7, and 5, and 0, chickens and a vegetable garden.
We have a bedroom and bathroom at the other end of our house so you would have privacy and not be woken up early! We hope to have people who enjoy spending time with children, can help us in the garden and poly tunnel, and help running our busy house hold. (Hanging up washing, help in the kitchen etc)

Mark and I run a restaurant and B&B with 16 rooms in Cornwall. We are situated in a lovely wooded valley beside a river and only 10 minutes walk down to St Austell town. The famous Eden Project is just a few miles away. The Building was originally a Blowing House (tin smelting) and later was used in the clay drying business. We have just under 2 acres with ponds and tree ferns . The jobs would mainly be helping us to clear trees and shrubs on the valley banks, cutting and shredding wood, sorting out ponds, the odd shift as a waitress/waiter maybe, some cleaning or painting if the weather is too bad.
We have a lovely black labrador and a cat.
We can offer one of our double en-suite rooms with breakfasts and evening meals and a 'help yourself' lunch for 20 hours work per week. Last time we had HelpXers they worked every other day so that they could make the most of their time in Cornwall. We have free internet and a bike for transport. This would be ideally suited to a couple.

From December 1st, Grow Heathrow is open to new volunteers of all genders, for a 2-month trial period.

At this point we are able to accept 4 new volunteers per month: after being here for a week as a guest, you can apply to be a volunteer for another 3 weeks, following which you will have the opportunity to apply to be a long term volunteer for 3 months. This is so we can all get to know each other and make sure we're going to get along in the long run!

It's chilly and gets dark early at this time of year, so you will need to come equipped with warm winter clothes, a sleeping bag and a torch!

On to the story of how we came to be...

There are a few acres of land by the M4 and M25 motorways in west London where three dilapidated greenhouses stand. Since 2010 a group of activists, local residents and people living off-grid have worked to return them to their original purpose as a market garden, and to make them into a community centre.

At meetings we use a process called... more inside
