** URGENTLY LOOKING FOR 1 PERSON FROM 10 JUNE FOR 2-3 WEEKS **. We have a volunteer here on her own, and a vacancy right now. Situated near the beautiful Mourne Mountains, and only a few miles from the sea, in Co. Down, Lackan Cottage Farm is in the early stages of becoming a permaculture smallholding on a six and a half acre site, which includes grassland, cut over bog, and several acres of birch woodland.
We grow a lot of fruit and veg, have 2 polytunnels, a new orchard, and also a variety of natural building projects on the go.
We are offering accommodation in our converted off-grid horsebox, which is well insulated, has hot and cold running water, shower, toilet, and most importantly a woodburning stove. Alternatively a 21 foot tipi is available.
We've plenty of past experience of horticulture, as well as low impact building and green woodworking, so there will be many opportunities to learn, and have a go at a wide range of projects.
We also keep a flock of hens, two rescue... more inside

The main jobs will be inside work such as laundry, cleaning the house, cooking, shopping and looking after our animals (1 dog and 9 cats). There will be weeding and grass cutting in the garden and maybe some painting inside or outside, depending on the weather. You will work a maximum of 4 hours per day with 2 days off each week. You might also be required to help out in our business (a local gift shop). I only require someone for approx 2 weeks.

Single room in our house with a shared bathroom and kitchen. Rural village on a bus route between two larger towns (one of which has a train station).

You must have your own insurance and be able to provide references.

I am taking on the restoration and regeneration of The Narrows in Portaferry on the shores of Strangford Lough. Once a vibrant hotel, it was derelict, vandalised and boarded up for 6 years. This abandoned building has been a wasted resource for Portaferry, Strangford Lough and Northern Ireland but I, Celia Spouncer has begun a fresh start and story for part of this lovely building looking out over the Strangford Lough Narrows. The vision - to bring back this formerly award winning building as a boutique guesthouse; micro cheese making; organic garden producing produce for kitchen; centre for local SLOWfood events; Slow Living skills; music, dance, the arts and an ecology focus for Strangford Lough and the Ards Peninsula. Work is varied - painting, helping with garden and cafe/pop-up restaurant, IT skills, sewing and upcycling. I live here with my husband David who is an ecologist, my son Sebastian 15years old who is studying Spanish and my daughter Orlagh 20 years old who is studyin... more inside

I have a home to welcome people into. The area is a beautiful town with great countryside, cycle routes, great traditional music and beaches. Two bicycles for people use and a house full of musical instruments, guitars, bass, ukelele, banjo, accordion, drums, keyboards. Its not a big home so about an hour a day is enough t o keep the place in shape no long workdays unless people want a challenge.

In short we need help with: Painting, decorating, cleaning rooms, carpentry, DIY jobs generally. Plumbing help maybe too. It is laid back here, so I'm sure we could negotiate something like full board in return for your services.

Hello, failte, and the warmest of welcomes from Derry!

Derry won the 2013 UK City of Culture and continues to attract lots of visitors in 2014. There are lots of events happening all year long, a vibrant music scene and lots of craic!

We are a small family run hostel, located in the university area of Derry, near a nice park and about 15 minutes walk from the city centre.

We are looking for two helpers to come and assist us in the running of our hostel.

The duties will include welcoming guests, checking them in and out, making beds and usual cleaning tasks.

Our hostel has a reputation for excellent standards of cleanliness, which we are very proud of, and keen to maintain.

Training will be provided when you arrive.

You need to have good English skills, be able to answer the phone and talk to guests.

In exchange for your help, you will have a bed in a twin private room, free breakfast, free Wifi, and a few days off per week!

Two possible sites. One is in Whitehead (20 miles NE of Belfast), the other is located in Islandmagee, 10 miles North of Whitehead.
The Whitehead property is an old (1700s) stone terrace house overlooking the sea which I have been renovating. There are still lots of DIY type jobs to be done. Whitehead is a quiet seaside town with coastal walks, 2 golf courses, a yacht club and is the centre for the (steam) Railway Preservation Society of Ireland.
It has good rail & bus services and is a good base for visiting the famous Antrim Coast Road.
Islandmagee os more rural. The property is an old pre-fab which I would like to clad in straw-bales. I need help with site ground-works. It is beside a popular beach known as Browns Bay.
