NOTE: Could use a hand with the garden and hauling, cutting and stacking wood. Suited best to those who are used to rather physical work.
We are flexible but around 5 hours a day seems to work well and we will provide lunch and dinner and a private room with wi-fi. If you stay a week of course a day off is in order! There is a great pasticceria, grocery shop, bars and pizzerias down below in the village.
The property consists of a group of 16th and 17th century stone buildings including Villa Raghezzi where Kali and I live, the farmer house where guests stay, the stalla for our sheep and hay, cantina for the wine and the grappa shed. Access is from the train station below, an 8 minute walk up hill which guarantees total peace and privacy and a magnificent view of the alps. We have a collection of 200 antique roses, make our own grape juice, and tend a large vegetable garden. The sound of water is everywhere originating from a pure spring on the upper boundary of the prop... more inside

In 1977 I inherited and have run this traditional bee farm which was started in 1917 by my maternal grandmother Licu Olla who introduced moveable beehives (one of the first to do so in Sardegna). I have three apiaries in the countryside and the wildflowers and rare endemic plants of this area make it an ideal place to keep bees. The area of Monte Arci, near the west coast of Sardinia, is of the highest quality environmentally and historically. It is part of Parco Geominerario della Sardegna and is poised to become the first natural park on the island. As an environmentally friendly activity our beekeeping is of the highest standard. I work the hives and farm organically (certified) and my ‘Mieleria’, powered by a photovoltaic system is built in the traditional clay bricks used in Sardinia. In addition to the bees, we have, distributed in several plots around the farm, an orchard consisting mainly of olive, apple, almond and pear trees. Since September 2012 there has been a library i... more inside

Hi! My name is emanuela and i'm 38 years old. I have recently finished building my house with straw bales and wood (and the help of many friends)(some internal walls and doors are still missing). The house will also host the headquarters of a no profit organisation i have founded together with friends. The house is self-sufficient from the energetic point of view.
There is a lot of land near by, mostly old terraces. I need some help with carpentry and drywalls in the house and to clean the land, improve the access to it and start producing organic food.
The land and the house, although immersed in the green, are very close to the city centre (30 minutes by bus). Genova is an amazing city, with the biggest historical city centre in Europe, a long and rich history as maritime republic, very beautiful and picturesque beaches and it's also very close to the Alps. I like mountains in every way and i would be happy to bring helpers there.

We are a young couple in a house close to San Godenzo, 7 km from Dicomano accessible by public transport, 60 'bus or 40' by train from Florence. Our property and about 13 hectares with brown woods, pastures and horticultural. We produce vegetables, brown and sweet flour that we resell in the local markets in Florence once or twice a week. In our house we live in symbiosis with dogs, cats and horses. Our products are cultivated with natural methods without the use of chemicals, fertilized with manure from our horses. Our work depending on the season, consists in transplanting and planting vegetables, and reap the fruits from the forest, care for and maintain the garden and field, look after the horses and their stables, clean the chestnut woods, gathering and stacking wood , create fences for animals. Occasionally we make crafts to home maintenance (we paint windows, doors, masonry and carpentry work) There we heat with wood we collect, we cut, we break. We enjoy life in nature and ... more inside

We started our permaculture project 5 years ago here in the north of Tuscany after travelling abroad for a few years. We live in a tiny but comfortable wooden house in the bottom of a small unhabited valley 6 km away from Palazzuolo sul Senio, a small medieval village.
We try to live in the most sustainable and self-sufficient way raising our own animals (chicken, ducks, geese, goats, working dogs) and taking care of the veggie garden but also hunting, gathering, conserving what nature freely provides.
Our activities include also managing the creek and the forest for water wood and wild food sources improvement, restoring centuries old abandoned chestnut orchards, digging ponds and create small wetlands.
We eat simple, and we love cooking.
We speak fluent english, spanish and a bit of french.
We have a guest room with 4 beds but we'll be happy to host 2 people or a small family.
In summer there's plenty of space to camp, cook and live outside.
This 2017 summer we'll be busy b... more inside

PLEASE READ THE WHOLE TEXT BEFORE CONTACTING ME!!!

*We are looking for help for ONE WEEK ONLY - 13 to 21 October 2017 - NO OTHER OPPORTUNITIES for this year*

Our spacious and quiet 4 bedrooms house, situated above a cute village at the heart of Cadore and the Eastern Dolomites, lies just at nature's doorstep on the slopes of Mt. Antelao.
Every room has a balcony and the living room abuts on a sunny patio with mountain view.

We normally rent out the house to guests or use it for our own family and friends but a couple of times a year we gladly host volunteers.

Following the success of last year, we would like to have again 6-7 people between *26/5 to 01/06* to help with some house maintenance (painting, gardening, woodwork, renovations).

In exchange for 5h of work per day, besides full board; we are happy to guide our volunteers to explore the gorgeous surrounding mountains in the free time.

We are an extended family of 3/6 people, dogs and cats. We live in the south Italy (trulli area).

::: During this time we are only available for the project "Il Giardino del Teologo" :::

Commonly we need help from January/May and October/November (but it changes every year). At the end of October and first week of November we have the Olive Harvest! We use the traditional method of olive picking. It takes some more time, but gives a lot of pleasure. Also our son Yan Maria used to harvest olives every year :)).

We also need someone to cary and look after our little Yan (some hours in the afternoon, when he comes back from chidrengarden). It's very important to love to stay with children if you want to make this type of helpx experience.
He is very social and indipendent boy.

We need help to restore and renovate the house/laboratory. We work with stone, wood, clay and earth, iron, glass, etc... We love and respect the traditional constraction manner of this land. But ... more inside

Welcome to our Farmhouse Backpacker Hostel!
The Farmhouse is the name of our project. Our project consists of a sustainable approach to life in its various aspects: energy, farming, and travelling. An essential sustainable element to this project is work-exchange itself, as our volunteers have the opportunity to engage with these approaches, learn from them, and experience cultural enrichment not only through a placement at the farm but also through contact with guests from all over the world.

A placement at the farmhouse is ideal for volunteers who are looking for a unique work-holiday experience in a friendly , open, and engaging atmosphere. We are located in the countryside but are also very close to the historical center of Perugia (1.50 euro bus ticket to town), so it will be very easy to experience the different aspec... more inside

We are located in the heart of Chianti, the well-known wine area in Tuscany. But we do not grow grapes. Instead we have 1200 olive trees, we have bees, three donkeys and a 2.5 acres of land dedicated to a permaculture project.
We have been certificated of compliance with organic farming standards on july 2015
We also run a holiday house for 9 guests, which is normally fully booked in summer and sometimes during the rest of the year.
The farm is runnig just by me and I'm always looking for people who are willing to stay with me, my daughter, cats and dogs, for 2-3 weeks and help us with gardening, pruning, animals care, carpentry, plumbing, electricity, whatever your skills are, we are ready to exploit them in exchange for good food and accommodation.

We are located at less than an hour drive from Florence, Siena and Pisa.
We will also be happy to show you around this beautiful place and pick you up at the nearest train station.

Drive licence is necessary, expecially if ... more inside
