English couple retired to France in 2003 living in hamlet 1km from village with café/bar and 13 kms from medieval town of Parthenay, Deux Sèvres. 1 adorable dog and 3 treasured cats rule the house so helper must be an animal-lover.

We would appreciate help in the garden with weeding, watering, chopping branches, clearing overgrown area, and indoors with painting etc.

Helpers have their own room with double bed and adjacent shower room. Wifi available. A communal evening meal with wine is included or you can cook separately if you prefer. Breakfast and lunch provided by hosts on a help yourself basis. In return, we ask for 20 - 25 hours' help each week, flexible on how these hours are spread out.

Walking and cycling (bike provided)in the local Gatine countryside is one of the pleasures of the local area. We are less than an hour from the university city of Poitiers, capital of Poitou-Charentes, and 1.5 hours from the coast at La Rochelle.

I've been out of the HelpX 'loop' for a while due to work and commitments to the NGO in Cote d'Ivoire.

NOW looking for someone for a MINIMUM of 2weeks, we have a few big parties going on in the village & you should have a lot of fun! In return, I'm looking for someone who won't turn their nose up at chaos, is prepared to muck in & use their initiative. A lot of DIY work needs doing so ideally someone with some DIY experience.

This would mean a 4hr day/5 days a week in return for a room in the house, food and the odd glass of wine, a great social calendar (you'll pick up French quickly that way!) and free internet access!

Happy to take travellers who are interested in getting to know the real France and have an easygoing personality!!! I'm very much integrated into French life & spend summer evenings with my French neighbours who speak a little English, but you'll soon pick bits up!

I do have a hectic life but try to give HelpX'ers as much of a local experience ... more inside

Winter in the mountains. You love the outdoors - you want to ski, walk and live in the mountains. I live in a ski chalet in the resort of La Plagne, Paradiski. It's a beautiful 5 bedroom house which looks out onto Mont Blanc. It's less than 25 m from the ski slopes. I only need help with light work, painting, some companionship for a 12 year old boy and some basic DIY, plus looking after cats and a tortoise. I love cooking and would welcome people who enjoy to eat and try different foods. You would have most of your days free to ski or snowboard. There are always many seasonal workers here as well so companionship would not be a problem.

Hello everyone !

Gaspard and I (and Louve, our dog) live in a small house in the beautiful "Vallée de la Loire". We try to be as self sufficient as possible ; we still have some improvement to make but we're getting there ! We have a special interest in fruit trees, permaculture experiments, alternative energies...
We need help with dry stone walling, gardening, construction of a solar oven and general construction work. We ask for 4 hours help per day(in the morning), and for people eager to share ideas and good food with us!
We are also musicians(Gaspard plays the saxophone, I sing and I am a comedian too) and I love drawing, writting and photography.
Gaspard also has great interest in anything that has to do with freedom of information and computers (Linux...)
We both do some alternative healing ( if you're curious about that : http://lumignons.e-monsite.com/)
The area is quite nice (birds of prey, wild boars, roe deers, few snakes, wild flowers...) and we have a yurt fo... more inside

Simon and Sylvie live in a suburban house in the suburbs of Toulouse, with a small garden.

UPDATE April 2017: We are planning a couple of weeks of painting & decorating work from 30th July to 15th August 2017.

We also have gardening work to do: planting new borders and trimming back hedges and trees. The garage needs cleaned out as well as plenty of simple painting and decorating work.

In exchange for 4 hours a day doing these tasks we shall put you up and feed you with good French cuisine.

We can put helpers up in the attic apartment - an independent flat designed, constructed and decorated by helpers past.

There is a lot to see in Toulouse and we're only a few minutes from the nearest metro station into town and a nice municipal swimming pool. Helpers often find that a week in a big French city is welcome relief after weeks out in the sticks with no night-life, cafés or young people around. Toulouse has all this ... and more!

We are a young couple (29) living in a great village in the Parc du Pilat, not far from Saint Etienne and an hour from Lyon. We have a 2 year old daughter who we are raising bilingually (mom Joanna is a native English speaker from Canada) and dad Alex is French, but learning English. We would like to host people in June, July, September 2017. We need help with English conversation, childcare, light cooking and cleaning, gardening...
English speaking help appreciated between 7-8 weekday mornings and 17 to 19 weekday evenings. Cooking a few meals would be helpful, and you could have lots of free time. Saturday to Tuesday our daughter is at home full time with one of us so more English conversation could be fun then too..
We are flexible for lots of days off too...

Saint Genest Malifaux is great for hiking, Saint Etienne is a short bus ride away. You could have quite a lot free time up to 4 days per week. We need you! :)

WELCOME !

Situated in the countryside (Plateau des Mille Etangs), nearby Faucogney-et-la-Mer
Closest train stations: Luxeuil-les-Bains and Lure (we can pick you up there)

The 400 years old farm house is inhabited permanently by Mathias, Benny, Simeon, Marleen, Sam and two children (3 and 5 years old) but also often by family members and friends and also by one or two mentally handicapped persons that we take care of. We live with 5 horses, round about 20 goats, 10 sheep, 4 cats, 2 dogs, chickens, ducks, geese and peacocks. Helpers are welcome to help with the animals, milk goats, to make cheese, to bake bread, to do gardening, to do construction work inside and outside the house (and other good things like making music, jumping on the large trampoline, taking a bath in the lake nearby...).

Children and families are welcome, vegetarian food is possible (we cook and share all meals together).
We prefer long-term stays and a minimum stay of two weeks. For July and August we a... more inside

We are an English couple living deep in Bordeaux wine country. Bordeaux is approximately 1 hour away and Bergerac 45 minutes.

We are looking for people as soon as possible to help us with our renovation project, gardening, cleaning and general help.

Our property is situated just outside a small village amongst the vineyards. The village has shops, bars etc and our local large town of Sainte Foy La Grande (with its famous Saturday market) is only 15 minutes away.

A double bedroom with en-suite facilities is available. We have wifi, english TV and bicycles are available if required.

Unfortunately we do not cater for vegetarians.

We are English and a few years ago had the mad idea of renovating the abandoned buildings of an old farm near Bergerac in South West France. Since then we've been bringing the site back to life in an eco friendly way and have made lots of new friends, young and old.

We've had interesting and varied lives, but here it helped that I spoke decent French and that Martin was a very practical and capable builder. Although we're still active every day doing some job or other, most of the building work is behind us, apart from hoping to put up a steel and reclaimed timber outbuilding some time this year, finishing a bit of interior work, completing the wooden cladding and landscaping of one of the barns, and making a new path. Another project is to make chair covers and curtains.

We run a couple of popular holiday properties on the site. The garden and grounds claim our attention too.

As there is always a variety of things to do we usually ask helpers where they would like to co... more inside
