Fairly small, 3 bedroom weather board home, 10 minute walk from the station to the train line which takes 25 minutes to get into the CBD. We're offering a room with a single bed and trundle (for a couple) or 2 friends sharing. We have a fairly sized back yard and we're ideally looking for a builder who can replace the rotten wood on our back veranda and check for damp under the house. If the builder could put in 10 hours a week (including sourcing the timber and collecting it in the family van) then the rest of the time would be free time to do as the couple liked. We're a friendly bunch!u33

Our property is located in the beautiful Upper Murray, North East Victoria. We run a commercial Angus herd of 200-250 breeders. As a spring calving enterprise, we have a lot of hands on animal handling activities in spring time (August/September) when interventions may be required to deliver calves, (Janice is a veterinarian, so the maternity ward is well resourced!) We mark and vaccinate the calves in October and wean in March. Pregnancy testing occurs in February. We supplementary feed hay/ silage during winter (tractor work here!)
We are actively improving the property and are currently undertaking stock yard construction, machinery shed construction, fencing and re-vegetation projects.
There is plenty of opportunity for a willing volunteer to gain some experience in a wide range of agricultural activities but don't worry, we aren't slave drivers!
We offer full board and lodging in exchange for an average of 25 hours of enthusiastic volunteering per week - farm work, constru... more inside

We are a Belgian couple (whom migrated to Australia in 1998). We are both in our fifties. We speak Flemish, English and very basic French.
Currently we are building a energy efficient house and a big greenhouse with aquaponics system.
We are aiming for a 80% self-sufficient lifestyle.
The small arm is located in the hills North East of Melbourne near Kinglake NP. Very nice scenery and completely surrounded by bush. 45 km from Melbourne City. We can just see the Melbourne skyline when the viz is good. Nearest station is half an hour drive by car.
Lots of wildlife: Deer, kangaroos, wallabies, lizards, wombats, possums, etc.
Off-the-grid PV system (9.5 kW with 15 kWh battery storage).
We collect our own water (56000 litres storage) and it is the purest water you will ever find!
Small animal farm (rabbits, chooks. Goats and pigs coming soon, etc). We grow our own fodder from germinated barley and wheat.
We also got a lovely dog named Yoppo (A cross breed Kelpie, Border Collie). ... more inside
