*on the 23rd June we're holding a big party, so there's lots of preparation to get the place ready!*

We're a young couple working and living on our parent's farm looking for help with construction, landscaping/gardening and sorting wood for the winter.

The farm is very old, with footpaths, beautiful woodlands and great old barns.

Our current main project is finishing the renovation of a 32'-10'ft porta-cabin. There's lots of woodwork, 2nd fix finishing and DIY creativity yet to do. We've already made a solid wood kitchen, wood floors, huge windows and a cool triangular slate fire place and log burner.

In July we're planning on reproofing the cabin, building a timber frame lean-to and making an outdoor rocket mass heater.

Also, our aim is to be implementing permaculture systems to the gardens throughout this season.

There is a bus and train station walking distance, and we could pick you up from Newquay airport. Accommodation is camping for now, we have... more inside

We have a small market garden on the outskirts of the Town of Frome. We run a local veg box scheme and have various animals: ducks to eat slugs, sheep to keep the grass down and sometimes pigs.

We are a family living on our land - off grid, but we think very comfortably. Accomodation is in a (nice) caravan or in a room in the house. Possibly camping if everything is full and you are very keen! We are interested in permaculture & sustainable living. Lots of work to do & fun to have - you're sure of a warm welcome!

Hello,

We are a family of 3 and we live in a fairly sizeable house in Bedford. We are busy professionals and we never have time to deal with countless jobs around the house.
I am Polish and my partner is English. Our 8 year old is a bilingual English-Polish.
We are looking for help - approx 2 hrs a day in an exchange for a room. We mainly require help with cleaning, gardening and small jobs around the house. If you can help me teach my child Polish (or if you could help with violin or other musical instrument that'd be a bonus).
If you can help more, we could also provide food in exchange for extra hours.

This may be an ideal start for someone looking for work in England.

Update: We've received some offers or help but mainly in August. August is school holidays so not a good time for us. We mainly look for help during school time. Many thanks

Hello, we are a family who have a small area of land that I am in the process of cultivating, and aim to plant an orchard soon. In the meantime, I have a catering trailer that I have salvaged that needs completely renovating as soon as possible. It needs to be made mechanically sound, the rust on the outside needs to be addressed and the cooking instruments need to be made useable. There is a bain marie and some gas pipes. I need someone who knows alot about restoration of this type as I need some guidance as to how to tackle it, not only the inside workings, but also to make it road - worthy.

I would like someone to work for 4 hours a day, in return for which I will provide all meals. I would like someone who is prepared to work intensively for a week or two. I have 3 willing but uninformed men in my house, so you will have plenty of help.. I mainly need someone to provide the know-how!

I live on the south coast of England, in a small village situated between two historic to... more inside

We have a beautiful small piece of land, around 1.5 acres, near Exeter in Devon. We are self building on a budget living off grid our ultimate aim to be as self sufficient as possible. I have 3 fab children, 2 big but very friendly ginger dogs, chickens and a couple of sheep to help keep the grass down when the mower is having a 'rest'. We are hoping to get some goats and some bees in the near future but will need to get some serious fencing fixed up to keep the allotment safe from those (the goats that is not the bees ;))
I work for a charity and also garden so there would be possible opportunities for paid work during a stay. We have a vegetable plot and I have a small, seasonal business selling cut flowers (which i'm desperatly trying to keep on top of) for local market and a wholesaler which creates a little extra income. I have applied for planning permission to start a community green waste composting site.
So we have lots of need for help in a wide range of projects from ge... more inside

A large family Georgian home set in a rural village location close to woodland. The train station is 5 miles away and lifts can be given for access. The village is 35 miles from Cambridge and 35 miles from Norwich. We need help with the renovation of a Coach house, including general labouring, building, insulation, electrics, plumbing, painting and decorating, some childcare and gardening. In exchange for own room - a couple or two friends can share in our lovely family home, breakfast, lunch and dinner - some help may be required with dinner prep/cooking. Wi fi, lifts to the train station and bicycle use. Working would be in varied chunks so that whole days/weekends are free for you to explore the area. Guests are welcome to stay for a minimum of a week.

We have lived at this property for five years and are trying to create a more self-sufficient small holding on our four acres. We have some mature fruit gardens and have planted an additional small orchard and forest garden. We have also planted a 'tree field', with willows and other trees for firewood - our house is heated using wood and solar - and mixed wood avenues which will make secluded areas in the future. We also have vegetable gardens, a polytunnel, bee hives and chickens. We have recently built a straw bale cottage for additional family accommodation, using rammed tyre foundations. We also have plans to build a log store and a yoga room.

We focus on establishing perennial, forest type gardens and using organic practices. There are many maintenance tasks around the property and in the gardens, which is why we require help from volunteers! We ask volunteers to work five days a week and to do five-six hours work per day - this is divided between hard and light physical... more inside

** Thank you to all who have replied - we are not looking for any more helpers now for a while. (Although if you have specific skills which match our projects listed below and would like to come later in the Spring/Summer you are still welcome to get in touch).

We are lucky enough to live on a beautiful 45 acre hill farm in rural Herefordshire with cattle and sheep. Please see our twitter account for a taste of our ethos and what drives us.
We have lots of projects we want to do with which we would love some help, and look forward to meeting new people, sharing new ideas and recipes and even learning some languages!
We want to work towards turning our holding into a permaculture / Agroecology farm, running it in as sympathetic and sustainable a way as possible. We would appreciate help in several areas which include:
Renovating an old railway carriage into accommodation.
Further development of our flower and vegetable garden and polytunnel. (If we're honest 'rescue' ... more inside

Come and volunteer at our permaculture community!

We are a workers Co-op of 2 families, both with home educated children. We live on a beautiful small holding, 2 miles from Durham city and with good public transport routes. We are practicing permaculture, growing organice vegetables and salads for our customer's. We have a flock of hens and sheeep, 3 bee hives, woodland, river, fruit bushes, willow coppice for basketry. We run various courses too, some of which you may be able to atttend.

We need help in our commercial vegetable garden, helping to feed the hens and possibly some basic D.I.Y. and possibly some help in our house.

You would be able to stay in our little eco structure. and often be able socialise with other volunteers. We will give you healthy organic ingrediants to cook your own food and we will sometimes eat together too. We can cater for vegans, vegetarians, meat eaters and gluten free.

My name is Andy and I am 37 years old. I live with my partner Joe in a town called Huddersfield which is in Yorkshire, in the North of England (UK).

I am now an experienced host and started this experience about 3 years ago. I have a rare medical condition, so needed help for this reason when I first started. My health has improved and I have continued with this experience, as I have made some great friends and so the journey continues :-)

I am well educated, traveled and lived abroad myself when I was younger. I enjoy helping or mentoring people who are visiting or planning to visit the UK. My partner Joe is a quiet person who likes reading, art, playing the guitar and takes a great interest in environmental issues. He has also made some good friendships with some of our former helpers.

I am a liberal person who appreciates people of a similar nature who want to learn more about this strange planet we all occupy, care about people and want to learn more about themselves. I... more inside
