HELPERS NEEDED : Its autumn now, time for garlic planting and enjoying the colour and briskness of the season. Helpers welcome.

Here Now: Ellen and Stewart and Barbara

TODAY: 17 May 2018 Cabe has gotten away to join up with Kerry in Turkey. He will be away till mid June. We have Lars staying along with Ellen and they make a great team. We have finished the new garlic patch, all planted and mulched with seaweed. We only have the main patch to do which should take a couple of weeks.

9 May Ellen arrives today and Cabe will be away till Monday when he will be back with the plastic to cover the greenhouse he has been building out the back paddock. Stewart got the new garlic patch cultivated and bedded, ready for planting and also sowed and rolled a new section of paddock with grass seed.

I live on a bush block and have started to implement a permaculture garden 3 years ago. There is a lot of work especially since the soil is pretty bad, very hard and full of rocks. I have a lot of projects beside the garden (e.g. tiny house, pizza oven, yurt, floor heating system in the house, ....), too, which need skills I don't really have. So someone with carpenter skills would be perfect for help.
The accommodation is in the house in an own room, shared kitchen and bathroom. Free internet. Basic expectation is helping out for 5 to 6 hours, 5 days per week.

We are a family of three, my wife and I and 16 year old son. We Live in Hobart and I travel to my studio in Cradoc most days to work. I am a practicing artist ( sculptor) operating a studio on 8 acres and I'm the process of setting up the garden and exchange artist in residence (listed on resartis) and helpx accommodation ( very basic). There is a little cottage on the property with a double bed and a wood heater/cook top. This is suitable for a couple or single person( one room) or shared small space. It has a lovely valley view and very cosy.
The toilet and shower are a short walk away. It is more practical in summer and only for the brave in winter, as a lot of the time you are outdoors. We are looking for some one to live in the little cottage and work for minimum 10 hours a week. This really is only an accommadation type exchange hence only the 10 hours. It can be done all in a day or over a longer period- it's up to you. You will have to supply own food and prep - kitc... more inside

My helper/s will need to prepare all their own meals (and buy the food) in exchange for 2 hours work each day (or 12 hours per week). The work will be weeding, mowing, and some light gardening jobs. Possibly also some cleaning.

I am currently very busy with study, assignments and work, so won't have a lot of time to interact with you. Think of it as a hostel-type situation, in a lovely private self-contained unit, where you are doing some work rather than paying a fee per night.

You can be flexible with the work- doing it over 2 or 3 days, and having the rest of the week off.
....................................................

My house is in a quiet street near the river with short walks to some lovely beaches.
The nearby bus route goes to Hobart heading north, and Kingston to the south.

The helper accommodation is currently a self-contained unit behind my house, with a view of the river. There is a piano and guitar available if you would like some practice.

LOVE GROWING VEGETABLES? WANT TO LEARN HOW TO GROW YOUR OWN MARKET GARDEN??? LONG STAY WORKERS VERY WELCOME

Opportunity to join a fun, dynamic farm. Opportunity to take on responsibilities, learn new farming skills, and be part of a team.

This is a farm in Preston, about 20 minutes inland from Ulverstone in NW Tasmania. We run a 2 hectare market garden, and sell our produce at the Cradle Coast Farmers Market in Ulverstone, and Harvest Market in Launceston, every weekend.
We also supply fresh vegetables to local shops and restaurants.

Our farm is run on biological principles, and we employ a range of methods for seeding, weeding, and harvesting, using both hand and mechanical methods. We are not certified organic, biodynamic or permaculture, however we do love lots of their ideas and principles and mix them with science, practicality and precisi... more inside

*********************************************
We are away until late June and not looking for helpers atm
*********************************************
We are currently looking for a couple or two friends who would help David with outside work clearing paddocks. This usually involves pulling out gorse and scrub with a tractor or excavator and then piling the debris into heaps and burning it up. Ideally you would work 25 hours per week over 3 or 4 days and have the rest of the week free with use of a car for sightseeing and exploring.

We are a couple in our late 50s who have 3 adult children who come and go leaving us with spare bedrooms most of the time. We have a large, comfortable home on 20 hectares on the outskirts of Launceston. We run horses, some of them ours and some that are agisted here. We also have a large garden area. We would welcome short term helpers who would help us in the paddocks and the garden and possibly with some painting and maintenance tasks. A sta... more inside

Stay in a newly built luxury home with a well-travelled professional couple who are now part-way through planting and establishing an Australian native garden to complement its setting. We are very flexible about your contribution, but this will be something we can discuss.

We enjoy art, the theatre, bushwalking, good food and good conversation.

You will have your own private bathroom, access to laundry facilities and also wifi.

The garden we wish to plant is about 1,000m2 on a sloping site. In exchange for your help, we offer a great place to stay, good meals and conversation and the opportunity for you to see and experience a beautiful part of Tasmania.

We are located 500m from a safe swimming beach, 1km from the centre of Devonport and close to an art gallery, museum and beautiful walks. We are also about a one hour drive from some of Tasmania’s wonderful national parks, some by the sea and others in the mountains.

We have bushwalked many times in these parks an... more inside

Hello

I live on 0.6 hectare in the small country town of Sheffield with a population of 1100, on the island State of Tasmania, just south of mainland Australia. Sheffield has rich volcanic soil, with an excellent rainfall that allows us to grow all types of exotic plants. I have lived in Sheffield for 16 years and since moving here I've planted many fruit trees (plums, apples, apricots, guavas, etc) I have chestnut, walnut and olive trees and lots of native trees. I have a healthy vegetable and herb patch, too!
I live with a cat, two alpacas, ducks, chickens and a dog (Bonbon)! There is a piano for you to play, you can take day trips to Cradle Mountain where you will find some of the best hiking in Tasmania! Meals are vegetarian and accommodation is in a comfortable bedroom. Wifi available. No smoking inside. You can see it all on my youtube page.
