We are american, from San Francisco and New Orleans, living in France for over 10 years. We have an old farm property in the Loire Valley, 10 minutes from Chinon, with a main house and two renovated barns. The larger barn is a vacation rental, and the smaller barn is mixed use, rental or friends, workers, etc. We need help with some small projects, with landscaping, and in the vegetable garden. We have a large veggie garden, many fruit and nut trees as well.

Before the season starts in April there is much work to be done cleaning up, tending to the garden, etc. Same at the end of the season. In mid-summer, there's weeding and landscaping to keep up with.

We NEED help in marketing our vacation rental, since the sites we have used for years have switched their format to compete with AirBnb. We need help with marketing on social media, which we have never done.

We can help with your english language skills if you are looking to improve, and we speak French.

We e... more inside

The project here at La Mariais is to create a learning centre for sustainable living. The work with friends and volunteers is currently coordinated by myself (an English woman with a background in permaculture, organic gardening, healthy vegetarian cookery, teaching and ecoconstruction).

This year work will continue on the old wattle and daub house (applying lime renders)and in the edible/permaculture garden and forest garden (tree planting, creating garden structures and growing annual and perennial food crops). Designing and/or building a rocket mass stove, a solar shower, dry toilets and an earth shelter or tiny house on the land is also a possibility. So if you have skills in any of these areas I would love to hear from you.

Creating delicious food with wild and cultivated plants is a big part of life here.

If you have skills in building or gardening/ landscaping you could really help to move the project on. However all are welcome.

In lending a hand here ther... more inside

Do you like to spend some time in the beautiful hills in the south of France?

We could need you for helpX-jobs or housesitting and taking care of the animals, the garden and the house when we go away for some days.

We have a very nice dog, 6 cats, 6 chickens and 10 cows and some calfs.

We bought an old farm, we moved in (may 2015) and have been renovating since.
You can find our farm at 60 km's south of Toulouse. We are 57 and 61 years old and we are from Holland and moved to France in 2004. We speak dutch, french, english and can understand german. We are open minded and like to meet people from other countries. When we were students we travelled a lot.

During the housesitting you can stay at our farm of course. When you do just HelpX: mainly painting, gardening, fencing, help with woodcutting. We have a nice little holidayhouse (gite) for the helpers where you can stay for free. With a new kitchen in it where you can also cook your own meals with our vegetables, be... more inside

We (Phil and Helen) have lived on our 6 hectare smallholding in a very quiet village in the middle of Brittany for the last 25 years.
We were self sufficient for a large part of the time whilst seeing our family grow up and even becoming grandparents recently.
However we now have a brand new project in renovating an old bar/restaurant in the village ( Helen already runs the existing one and wants to eventually move into the bigger premises)
At the farm we still have chickens, sheep, a dog, cats and now and then a pig for the freezer.
Part of our land is a forest garden alongside a large polytunnel, whilst the rest is wetland, there is also a huge oak tree on the property that is over 9 metres circumference and is in guide books as an 'arbre remarquable'.
The new property in the village is a huge project, with an existing bar, shop and appartment to clean up and redecorate, then there's the ballroom behind where we plan to install new toilets and kitchen area.

We will... more inside

The chateau was acquired to form the base for a small community focused on developing and supporting a range of new technologies. The site is connected to the Global Change Foundation, an organisation that supports new technology initiatives and other projects designed to assist humanity in moving forward in these challenging times. We have been running a very pleasing 'visiting community' experiment here for several years, getting the site set up and ready, doing repairs and some new facilities - and generally getting used to living and working together. We have met a lot of great HelpX volunteers, and a much has been achieved by them! Oh yes, and we have a reputation for near-gourmet food, so you won't go hungry! AND NOTE: the leaking roof (mentioned in one of our last reviwers comments) has now been fixed (needing 80 new slates!)and so things have dried out.

In exchange for bed and board we are looking for willing people with any combination of skills: be you a good gardener, ... more inside

We live in a beautiful part of France, and we are looking for flexible independent helpers, to help us.
We are looking for help at the moment to restore a barn, we need to insulate the ground floor, and fix a stone wall with lime rendering. The garden also needs some work, weeding, trimming, cutting, etc. as well as some painting/restoration work on the buildings .
Building or gardening experience is valued, but common sense and good attitude are always a plus. Some of the work can be physically demanding, so be ready to sweat!

In exchange for 4_5 hours a day, we offer accommodation and meals with us, and hopefully some nice evenings learning new stuff, and having a laugh.
St Jean de Paracol is a very small village, with a good atmosphere and with plenty of great places around to visit, particularly for those who enjoy walking.

We're a few people living in the Pyrenees mountains (south of france near mediterannee sea), a place isolated from road and town.

Our main goal is to restore the potential of the old little village La Coume to allow people to live there.

We run different projects: organic gardening, raising animals (chickens, goats, donkeys, horses), rebuilding ruins with old methods, making our own energy.

I am looking for people to help me 6 hours per days 4 days a week. I expect autonomus people who are not afraid to work hard and walk.
People need to be able to reach us by foot, work independently, cook for everyone, do a bit of housekeeping.
You must be aware that it's not a holiday center...

In exchange I will be happy to give them food, housing, activities happening around in the valley, trekking and exchange knowledge. You will be lodged in a commune house with a dry toilet outside.

Most of work is hard and outside: building with stones, electric fences, clean the fields, ... more inside

We are a retired english couple living in the Limousin. We are creating a forest garden using permaculture and organic growing methods. We don't eat meat but we eat well, often our own produce although our cropping is still in its early days.
We can offer comfortable accommodation in either a caravan or a timber cabin with bunks.
Work is very varied to adapt to peoples' abilities, skills, age etc and can include land-clearing, making terraces, building a compost toilet, making compost, planting trees etc
