We built our own house on 10 hectares of what they call here : 'rough grazing land'. Up to 15 years ago, cows grazed it, but since then, only our 2 horses have roamed the grounds. We maintain an orchard and a garden (2 polytunnels) but much of the land has been steadily turning into forrest (birch, willow, holly, ashes, mountainashes and hawthorns mainly). We would like some help installing fences and dealing with the vast amounts of woodclearing. We would like to open some of the old fields, clear bits of the new woodland, built 2 new sheds and shelters and finish our roundhouse/garden shed, which could be easily turned into a cozy place for visitors to stay, provided it gets a bit of an upgrade. We have an en-suite room in the house to stay or plenty of space for a tent in the summer if you like. We share our place with our 3 children, 2 dogs, chickens and 2 horses. In the summer, we work long, flexible hours. There is no routine as such, mealtimes can vary greatly, depending on w... more inside

*** URGENT *** At the moment, we have a vacancy from July 5th until the end of August 2015 *** For the period of Summer 2015 we would really appreciate help from anyone with some building or carpentry experience, hopefully in timber frame construction.

Hello, we are a family of four with two young children, living in a traditional Irish cottage in a very scenic and peaceful part of Donegal overlooking a valley and the Glendowan mountains.
We are an easy going family who enjoy travelling and meeting people from other cultures.
We work as a chef and in craft and design.

We have restored the cottage ourselves to a very comfortable standard using traditional methods. The house is heated with wood stove and we also use a wood-pellet boiler. We intend to install solar panels for water and/or electricity and a wind-turbine sometime in the future. We grow a lot of our own food in the garden and polytunnel.

At the moment, we would really appreciate help with building a small wo... more inside

In return of staying for free in your own room and free food, we will be looking for 25-30h per week of your time to help us with light everyday tasks.

We have space for a couple of helpX workers to start immediately! Minimum 2 week stay.

We run a guesthouse, Granuaile House, overlooking a beautiful sandy beach beside the harbour on a small island off the west coast. You can check our location on our website. Clare Island has a winter population of around 150 people which increases in summertime with visiting tourists.

Two ares we need help in. One is the day to day running of the Bed and Breakfast. From serving breakfast, general cleaning, laundry and room changeovers. The second area we need help is with outdoor and indoor painting, garden work and general house maintenance. In exchange we offer accommodation, food and a chance to explore our beautiful island. You will have opportunities to swim, sail or fish in the clear waters right beside the house as well as the chance to take part in the varied island social life. There are always plenty of occasions to sing, or even to try a traditional dance!

Hi helpers, this is an updated message but please read the rest of the message as all the rest of the profile is still relevant.
We are looking for someone to help out in the next few weeks up to 26th June. We have a helper coming and would like to have someone to work with her.
If you have asked us before about staying and we did not need a helper at that time but you are still interested please mail again as it is easier for us than going back over all the offers we have had already.

Original message:

This is an opportunity for some helpers to help with some light gardening, relax and share some time with us. We will be tidying up the garden for the summer. As it is a big garden and we only moved here 1 year ago, there is lots to do.
We plan to travel and use helpx next year for 3-4 years and would like to meet helpers that can share information with us about farms and environmental projects that they have helped with. This way we will have information to take with us ... more inside

We have three children and live on a small farm in the scenic Beara Peninsula approx-20km from Kenmare. This location will appeal to people who enjoy hillwalking, or have an interest in Irish archaeology. We love animals and breed kerry Bog ponies. We also keep chickens and ducks as well as pets. We run a small glamping site on the farm- with a vintage caravan and gypsy wagon.

We would greatly appreciate some help next week- from around 3rd to14 June. We need a responsible person- or couple to help out with the animals and garden. Work time each day would be a maximum of 2.5 hours. Accommodation would be in a really cool vintage caravan! Please get in touch if you are interested!
