We have a very private 1 acre garden which is constantly in need of maintaining - weeding, spraying, lawns mowed, trimming etc. There are also a number of animals that need attention.
Meals are shared with us - and help to prepare is always appreciated.
We are situated 2 kilometres to Back Beach, which is a very popular Surf Beach. Your own transport is necessary.
We require help in the garden and occasionally on the farmlet.
We have a sleepout available which is situated in the garden and would suit a single person or a couple - all amenities are in the main house.

We are a family with four children (20, 18, 16, 7). We originally come from Germany, came to New Zealand eight years ago and made it our home. We love Taranaki, the mountain, the sea, the walkway and last but not least its people. We live in suburbia and over time transformed our section into a lush productive garden with fruit trees, vegetable gardens, a green house and chooks. We grow as much food as we can and enjoy bread baking, preserving, beekeeping, hunting and much more. We are interested in community building and new ways of living together. Our children are natural learners which means that they are not going to school but live and learn along their passions and interests. We love to welcome people in our home to make friends from all over the world. And we are always grateful for help. For us it is important to have guests who are happy to interact with our children, have an open heart and the willingness to help us with every day jobs in and around the house. We are offe... more inside

We own a 15 room, homely, friendly backpackers, set on city fringe, but surrounded by nature. We often need help with our housekeeping, reception, and social media. Full training given, however we do require a longer commitment for the reception positiogtn, unless you have experience, as there is a lot of training. 15 hours per week, with plenty of time off, would return accommodation, unlimited wifi, and free bikes and laundry.

The hostel is located next to the Te Henui River walkway, with scenic bush outlook, lovely birdsong, and sunny garden, picnic and bbq area. We sleep as many as 40, and have a nice friendly atmosphere in the lodge. We have bbqs, and shared meals.

New Plymouth is a wonderful place to visit, especially in the summer; we have great surf, and award winning walkways, not to mention our majestic mountain for outdoor adventures.

Please call or Email Rachel, with some info about yourself, including a CV.

Kia ora tatou,

We are a family with two kids (6 and 1) looking for people to help out around the place. Work can include gardening, tree planting, pruning fruit trees, childcare, mowing lawns, chopping wood, building, repairs and maintenance, housework etc.

We are a tri-lingual family speaking Te Reo Maori, swiss-german and English. If you speak Te Reo or swiss-german, that would be extra awesome.

We are into permaculture and climate justice activism, and are involved in Parihaka and marae around here.

We have a spare bedroom in our house. We are mostly vegetarian. We live on SH45 - also known as Surf Highway for all its amazing surf breaks - a couple of kilometres north of Pungarehu.

We are looking for people from January 2017 onwards to early February, second half of March and then again from mid April.

We have a family home by the beach in Waitara, a small town 15 mins out of New Plymouth. We have two teenagers and a younger boy living at home, and another older girl when Uni is out. We love the water and enjoy surfing, sup boarding, kayaking (river & sea), fishing and rock climbing. We also have a swimming pool operating in summer. You will have your own bedroom within the house. The house is nothing flash. Just a simple family home, displaying a true kiwi culture.

Our priority is to get a pizza oven made, so we need someone with D.I.Y skills, and preferably able to work independently. We have a pizza oven kit ready to go. Other and future jobs will include painting, gardening and house cleaning. We own a kayaking business and therefore there may be work here to help with also. Hours of work and length of stay will be negotiated.

In exchange we offer food and accommodation. Ideally we would like the person to join in with the family as much as possible, so there may be op... more inside

Hi there. My name is Tom, I'm 39 and I have a beautiful 1 hectare block, 15 minutes south of New Plymouth, between the great village communities of Okato and Oakura with their great cafes and great surf breaks. The property is nestled alongside the Kaitake ranges, (part of Egmont National Park) and with sea and mountain views, it is a stunning place to live. I have owned this place for 5 years and what was once a bare paddock now has a little self built house with a lot of eco principles, over a 1000 trees planted and a young but beautiful emerging edible forest garden, with alot of fruit trees and an establishing vege garden, growing good organic food is one of my passions. I work full time as a Carpenter and Joiner so always need help around the place all sorts of work to do here or if you prefer am happy for anyone to even help with the cooking and home chores if you prefer, this would be a huge help too as give me time on the land and building projects, such as an eco cabin I'm ... more inside

We milk 500 dairy cows due to start calving on 26th july, we are a family with 3 young boys. So must like children as this is their home first.

We are friendly, down to earth, hard working people that like everyone to pitch in so we can enjoy the down times together.
Work would involve helping in the gardens, around the house and on the farm ie milking, helping set fences and other odd jobs, and at times watching over the children

I live on a 1200 msq section in New Plymouth with my partner, my daughter, my partners son and daughter (30% of the time) and our little dog and cat.
I've been doing work exchanges for a while now and it's been really interesting so far..with wonderful to mediocre experiences.
We live in a great place and offer a comfortable and social environment to stay in.
The primary thing I'm looking for is a sweet exchange. One where we all leave feeling really happy..and pleased with having gotten to know one another.
Length of stay is anything from a couple of days to a few days depending on our compatibility.
I'm trying to expand my garden and not wanting to be a complete slave to it so I really need some help sometimes…thats where you come in.
The activities I'd like help with are gardening, digging, lawn mowing, general maintenance and some house work.
My expectations of you are that you work well and at a decent pace. You pay attention and take care. You're happy to be and inter... more inside

We are a charity offering free accommodation and time out space to local people and families who face a challenging time. Your role will be to assist with the welcome, some house cleaning and general grounds maintenance. Your time is very flexible in conjunction with the Retreat host family - we want to ensure there is always someone onsite. You will be given all food and your own caravan to live in, with access to Retreat Lodge facilities too. There is also a car available for your use - shared. This would suit a very friendly person or couple who enjoy meeting people and are caring and non-judgemental. Police check required.

We are Swiss- Kiwis with two school age girls living in Stratford, a small town on the base of our beautiful Mt Taranaki. We live on the outskirts of town in a small house with a very large section and garden, which we may need help with maintaining from time to time. We have been doing help x for a couple of years now when we owned and operated a Lodge 25 minutes away on Mt Taranaki- so please note our feedback until November 2016 is from helpers who stayed at the lodge. As we have enjoyed the experience so much and met so many lovely people we are keeping our listing but will not require as much help.
No help is currently required.
