This is a small non-commercial lodge accessible by boat (pick-up at Portage possible) or by walking (30-60 minutes) from nearest road point with parking. The whole property, located on the end of a peninsula in the middle of Kenepuru Sound, is a nature reserve, - native bush (forest) preserved in perpetuity under a QE2 Trust covenant. I'm seeking to encourage (1) the regeneration of the trees and forest fauna by activities like transplanting seedlings, weed & pest control, (2) the appreciation of our bush (forest) via a network of walking tracks (with selective labelling), & (3) appreciation of the possibilities for (comfortable) sustainable, self-sufficient, low-footprint living, with solar electricity & hot water, composting toilets, roof-collected water, & home-grown vegetables, fruit & sea food. Great opportunities for swimming, fishing, kayaking, tramping (hiking) & photography. More than half the property boundary is sea-shore. Help required with a variety of (mainly outside) ... more inside

Hi to all, we are a family of four in the Pelorus Sounds, Marlborough. Our closest port is Havelock.
We are looking for an easy going person to give us a hand from the 4th of January.
We have a large sheep farm in the Pelorus Sounds, and are boat access only, because of our isolation we cannot host people with serious medical conditions, or allergies, sorry.
We would love some help with household duties, like cooking and cleaning, or on the farm.
We would also love to have someone with a teaching background in either English or maths to spend a few hours a day with our 2 children, who are 10 and 12.
We ask that you work around 4 hours a day in return for a place to stay and meals.
We have alternative power, and internet is available.
We like to do a weeks trial with people to make sure we all get along before committing to longer stays.
In your free time you can join in with summer activities, kayak, fish, tramp etc...
We are a family that enjoys the outdoors, especially h... more inside

Sheep & Beef Family farm in Ward. We are after two friends or a couple to help with weaning, feeding dogs/horses/hens/cat/magpie on our sheep & beef farm in Marlborough over the Christmas period. Must have some experience with farm animals & also handling horses is a plus.
A self-contained cottage is available with broadband & having own transport would be ideal.
There is cellphone coverage. The farm is 45km South of Blenheim, just off SH1. In the local vicinity is Ward Beach & a tearooms/postal office. If this sounds like you, please get in contact

High country farm running merinos and Angus beef cattle. We would like a couple to come for two weeks over Christmas to feed our farm dogs, chooks etc and keep an eye on a few troughs.

We live 80km from Blenheim on a gravel road. You need your own vehicle but we would provide fuel and all food. You would live in our house while we are away.

We live next to a river, have a pool and spa , and beautiful landscape everywhere!!

We have a 2.5Ha vineyard growing sauvignon blanc. There is also 5Ha of pasture where our neighbour grazes his sheep.
We have enjoyed hosting HelpX workers previously and appreciate the help on our land.
We are just 15 minutes drive from Blenheim and adjacent to the wine district - so there's plenty to do and see.
There's some great hikes close by and the Wairau River is a favourite place to swim and walk the dogs on a hot day.
We look forward to meeting new people.

Cheers
Philippa

Very beautiful, 100 acre hill farm in early stages of being developed into a conservation farm park and petting zoo for children. We have extensive gardens and a large variety of animals and bird life. We also do a lot of animal rescue and recovery, mostly of birds and some animals. Accommodation is provided in a detached sleep out with double bed. Hosts are a family of 4, Mum and Dad, a daughter of 18 years age and a son of 15 years. We are a typical rural kiwi family, we enjoy animals of course, sports, movies, sharing good food and wine and learning about other cultures. Marlborough is renown for its good wines, food and sunny climate with lots of rural outdoor activities i.e fishing, sailing, skiing. Our farm is located in a lush, green valley only 10 minutes from Renwick and 20 minutes from Blenheim. Worker's will be provided with accommodation and an evening meal in exchange for 3 hours of work per day. We're a pretty relaxed home, 2 adults 1 8 year old boy, 1 dogs and a cow. We live by the sea in the marlborough sounds, go boating and exploring when we're not gardening or collecting fruit from our orchard.. Our property is 18ha and we have mostly trees on the place. We love to cook and drink wine, and beer and entertain. The projects we have on the go at the moment are pruning trees, weed eating, and some boat maintenance...You'll have your own accommodation in the beautiful tent/yurt you see in the picture...you'll eat your meals with us. We love having people stay, its easier if your english is good but we'll do our best!!
