Dia dhuit,

We are a family of four 2 adult/2 children living in the North West of Ireland. Throughout the year we have numerous projects that we welcome helpers for.

In 2012, along with the help of friends, family and volunteers we built our Roundhouse center (see video below). It is here in the Round we hold our West African percussion classs and retreats over the year. There are always jobs to be done in maintaining and adding to the use of the center.

At the moment our main focus is working on our home which is on the same site as the Roundhouse. The house was started eight years ago its design is a traditional type bungalow, with blocks and slate roof. Since begining this house our thoughts and ideas of building/living have changed alot and so the work on the house is that of redesign, strawbale interior walls, earthen plaster, natural wood interior and cedarwood cladding exterior.

We hold weekly and monthly class's with the drumming and every six weeks or so we h... more inside

We moved here over a year ago and cleared and area to create 2 raised beds
We cleared out an old polytunel
There are still many roots and briars to clear to create an easier place to work in and to make 3 more raised beds
The soil is also very poor and it needs more manure and seaweed and mulch
We would like to be totally self sufficient in 2 years
We have a lovely guest room to keep 1 helper and live very near the beautiful town of Westport in the West of Ireland

The main jobs will be inside work such as laundry, cleaning the house, cooking, shopping and looking after our animals (1 dog and 9 cats). There will be weeding and grass cutting in the garden and maybe some painting inside or outside, depending on the weather. You will work a maximum of 4 hours per day with 2 days off each week. You might also be required to help out in our business (a local gift shop). I only require someone for approx 2 weeks.

Single room in our house with a shared bathroom and kitchen. Rural village on a bus route between two larger towns (one of which has a train station).

You must have your own insurance and be able to provide references.

My uncle Jack is looking for help on his dairy farm. It's pretty small as dairy farms go nowadays. It's a quiet time of year so just a bit of help. You won't be alone as he will have a full-time farm hand with him.

He's a laid back man in his early 60's who appreciates a good chat. House is warm and comfortable. Typical rural ireland farm experience. He has hosted a lot in the past.

I'm his nephew and live nearby. I can help with any questions, or you can call his mobile.
