The smallholding is largely pasture with a recently planted hectare of deciduous broadleaf trees which need maintenance and replanting to take account of losses.

I have plans to redesign the farmyard as a garden which blends in to the agricultural landscape. I am open to ideas on witty schemes to make the garden more interesting. Ultimately I would like to open the garden under the National Open Gardens scheme in the UK. I need walls building, pathways laid out etc. a pond digging and a cascade planned and landscaped.

Where we live:
We live in West Cornwall above the picturesque fishing villages of Mousehole and Newlyn, with beautiful Cornish beaches such as Sennen nearby. There are also stone circles, iron age villages and Celtic Holy Wells all nearby.

About us:
We are a family of four. Both adults work part time - Gill at The Eden Project, and Seamus as a doctor (GP). Isla is 7 and goes to school in Mousehole; Silvie is 2. We live in a recently renovated and extended old farm house - there is still lots to do which is why we need your help!
We have about 1/3 hectare of land on which we have a poly-tunnel, chickens, ducks, a guinea pig and a cat. Animals may increase or decrease depending on local fox appetites and random additions.

About you:
We need help with all aspects of looking after our home and garden. Tasks will include gardening, decorating & repair of house, cleaning out chickens, building tree houses and other general carpentry, child care and generally mucking in with the... more inside

Can you help?

We are looking for helpers for between 4-10 days at a time. We can often give a lift back to London area at the end of the visit.

We are Pam & Glyn, in our 50's, living in a hamlet in South Devon, 10 miles from sea. Glyn often works away from home and I have ME/CFS so am unable to do much and so neither of us can really look after the house & garden properly. I am unlikely to able to socialize unless I am having a very good day, as I just get exhausted, so a single helper would need to be comfortable with time alone. I speak a little French and completed a TEFL course many moons ago. Parking may be possible for one car.

For You (Non-smokers, no pets)

A sited modern comfortable, but unheated caravan.Bedding/towels provided. Access to WC/shower/wash/cooking facilities in the house. You should be able to connect to the house wifi for emails.

I am a single parent / carer and have a semi detached house with a garden that has fruit trees and bushes. I would like help with work in the garden in return for free board and lodging. I can provide a tent in the summer or when a bit chilly a room with single bed or if not then a room with a blow up bed. All meals will be eaten together with the family and members of the household. I cook primarily vegetarian food as well as non veggies stuff for those that want it.

We are currently interested in potential au pair/nanny options for our 3 1/2 year old son. He attends a Montessori nursery in central Norwich and we are very happy with the environment. We are interested in household help and 4pm collection from nursery (within walking distance of our home) until approximately 6pm when we are home from work.

As our families are not nearby, we hope that a very positive close relationship with a third family-type member can evolve from such an arrangement.

Our son is engaging and very active; loves books; has a wide vocabulary and imagination; and loves animals -- most especially cats, dogs and ladybirds.

Our personal approach to child development focuses on gentleness, explanations, respect for self and others, and independent exploration. Emotional and psychological security is extremely important to our family, and we want to feel extremely confident that all children are treated with a very high level of interpersonal respect.

I can offer accommodation for one or two people who are willing to help with redecoration of some rooms in my 4 bedroomed house in West Yorkshire. The house is close to the famous world heritage site of Saltaire and close to local attractions including beautiful moorland walks. The nearest city is Leeds which is easily accessible by bus and train. I am looking for someone who is not afraid to get dirty taking off wallpaper and doing general redecorating. People with experience of doing up a house, plastering, plumbing, electrical skills etc. would be particularly welcome. You would have your own bedroom with a shared bathroom and kitchen. Basic food will be provided but you will mostly need to cook for yourself. I am flexible about the times you work and the length of stay. Strictly no smokers please.

I am looking for someone short term who would be prepared to do some serious housework for a few days in return for some good food, free time and a comfortable bedroom. You would be treated as part of our family, just my husband and I who are in their 70s but quite a "with it" couple. I have osteoarthritis and although I am still quite agile the housework piles up a bit because I cannot do what I used to do. We have travelled to many countries often backpacking and will provide a short respite for the weary traveller! We live on the edge of the Lake District in North Lancashire. We are meat eating, have a small old dog, and do not smoke. We enjoy wine with our meals and you would be welcome to share that.

A modern house with a garden. I'm a Herbalist and I grow some medicinal and culinary plants. I need a little help in the garden but I mainly need help in the house at the moment. Painting and decorating and some cleaning.
You will have your own room but this is one of the rooms that needs decorating so it will be fairly basic until that's finished.

We have space for one person/ couple/ two friends between now and 6th August if anyone would like to spend time with us and our animals.

We breed alpacas, chickens and ducks. We also design and build poultry houses here in the Blackdown Hills of Devon.

We are looking for an average of 28 hours help a week to be arranged to in a mutually convenient way. For example, four hours a day or eight hours for a few days followed by a few days off. As well as regular animal care and husbandry and cleaning out of chicken houses (which will include moving heavy wheelbarrows)some help will also be required with day-to-day upkeep of the farm. Please understand heavy manual labour is involved. Experience of animal handling would be preferable but not essential. What is important is someone who is prepared to "get stuck in"

You will have free use of the house for kitchen, bathroom etc. and staying in a large six man tent with plenty of storage and table and chairs. The tent has two separat... more inside
