If there is anyone 25 years+ available we are ready to welcome someone from June 21st for 2 or 3 weeks.
We are looking for someone to help mostly with cleaning and housework both inside and outside of the house and helping at a car boot sale. Inside would generally be cleaning around the house and possibly some easy ironing. Depending on the time outside would include sweeping paths, weeding and generally helping Tim in the garden. No cooking is required as I like to cook myself. See also more jobs below.
We enjoy being members of helpx and would like someone preferably over the age of 25 to come and stay in a relaxed household and enjoy the south coast for short stays at various times to help me with some cleaning of the house and windows and sometimes to help Tim weeding and cutting down in the garden. We are a retired couple in our sixties (still young and fit). Jean was teacher in a primary school and then was head of an Autistic unit and Tim taught art and ceramics. Our house... more inside

We are Amanda and Jonathan, we live in a beautiful rural location in South Devon, (4 miles from Totnes) in 2 adjacent old cottages. We are not far from Dartmoor or the sea.
We are both creative artist/designer makers and teachers in our respective areas. I work with wood, carpentry and construction and teach geometry of pattern making and ceramic tile making. Amanda is a textile artist/designer working with natural and hand dyed felt and is also a very keen and knowledgeable gardener.
We are pretty relaxed, friendly, helpful, generous, artistic people. We have four children who have all now left home, the last being Amoria who is 20 and still at university who might still be around during the holiday period. We have done helpx ourselves as have all of our children during their gap years. We think it is an amazing organisation.
We are looking for people who enjoy practical work and the sense of achievement it brings. What you do will definitely make a difference to us. The jobs ... more inside

Hi there

If you are really happy to do gardening, please consider coming to stay with us for a few days from 16th to 22nd June. This is the only vacancy we have - all our other dates are booked!

A couple would be best, but a solo traveller will be fine if you're completely happy to work on your own (I explain things well for you).

We welcome active, working guests to help just 4 hours a day, in the morning.

ABOUT US: A happy, busy, cheerful couple. We are experienced, kind, generous, 5* hosts who will really make your stay memorable and fun. We are also volunteers, when we travel, so we know how to create a good experience.

We are very active, and we especially love a good laugh and hiking in the countryside. We hope to be inspired by your lives and we hope you will be inspired by ours!

We appreciate that you are working for us and we will host you very well in exchange.

VOLUNTEER TASKS:

We ONLY need gardeners - people who love to garden.

*** At the moment we only have space for helpers who are willing to camp (bringing their own tent, sleeping bag etc) in exchange for just 2 hours work a day plus 2 days off a week. Do drop me a line if you are interested :) ***

Set on the edge of the pretty fishing village of Beer on Devon's south coast, this 39-bed Youth Hostel is in need of a willing helper over the coming months to help keep it looking it's best.

The work here at YHA Beer mainly comprises of 4-5 hours a day of cleaning (inc making beds) with some occasional gardening and painting, and with 2 days off a week.
It's not particularly glamorous (can include a fair share of cleaning toilets!) but the reward of living in this lovely village just a 10 minute walk to the beach, I think, makes it well worthwhile :)

Your accommodation would be in your own room in the small on-site staff flat which you'll usually share with one other member of staff. There's a shared bathroom and small kitchen for you to cook you... more inside

We have arranged for 2 guests in August and will therefore not be needing anyone else until next summer. This is a small nature reserve consisting of a small wood of an acre or so, a wildflower meadow of about half an acre and a wildlife garden. We are situated amongst farmland and near to the beautiful Tas Valley. We would like our guests to help scythe and rake the meadow - this might take around 4 hours a day over about a week, depending on the weather. The rest of the time would be your own. There would be lots of rest. We would give lifts to Norwich to explore this ancient city, to Cambridge, and to the beautiful North Norfolk coast. We would also take you for a day out in London. I am a retired teacher and could help with language skills. There would be lots of conversation. You would enjoy home cooking and have a bedroom of your own. We are a retired couple and we would share the work and work alongside you. We could teach you how to scythe and believe you would find it a... more inside

Attractive rustic old Norfolk Barns that I have been developing, on a shoe string, since 1991. In 1997 I built an eco-cabin and extended it in 2004 with a 50square metre straw-bale,on rubber tyres buildingy. We have a reed-bed purification system, and have started harvesting water. There is a large vegetable garden which I have developed along Permaculture principles with composting on site cf. Thanks to a former volunteer we now have a wonderful polytunnel. I am a member of the Permaculture association which has always been a source of inspiration.Sadly I am without large animals For many years I ran animal assisted activities, but recently have
given the ponies and pigs to a wonderful project working with city school children in a residential setting, giving them an experience of the outdoors. cf Ringsfield Hall Eco-centre near Beccles.
