******Vacancy from September *****

Hi Helpers, we run a high quality dinner, bed & breakfast business from our home, Melfort House, in the Scottish Highlands. Melfort House has a reputation for providing luxurious, elegant accommodation and excellent food. We operate a 54 foot polytunnel which provides us with veg and salad for our business and family. We have a stretch of foreshore onto Loch Melfort, some native woodland and number of fields and paddocks around the house which provide grazing to livestock. Our family consists of two children who are away from home at school & university and occasionally make an appearance at weekends and holidays, a cat and 2 dogs. We need 2 people (a couple or friends) to help us - preferably for a 3+ week stay. Our helpers need to have good English to converse with our guests. We need people who are happy to be flexible and prepared to help with the garden & polytunnel, dog walking and housekeeping, breakfast or dinner service. In re... more inside

Lyn and I run two self-catering holiday lodges a few metres from loch ness. These can be booked for a minimum of 1 night so we have constant changeovers during the weeks of the high season. We are looking for one or two people to work with us in 2018. We will provide accommodation plus food (I am a vegan and Lyn eats most things) for you to cook using your own kitchen for approx 2 to 4 hours work per day. This is to do changeovers in the lodges, check-in guests, washing and ironing and help with gardening, veggie plot, general maintenance, etc. The location is good as you will be able to walk, cycle, run the Great Glen Way which runs through the forest behind the lodge and pick mushrooms in the forest. There is free WIFI, free use of our kayak and small powerkites. Your accommodation is a very lovely and comfortable self-contained Shepherds Hut which has a double bed, kitchen, flat screen TV with freesat and shower room. Close to Ullapool I have run this farm from the age of 21 and have always really valued the help of HelpX. We have a family of three kids, we play a lot of music and you will hear bagpipes!!

Looking for volunteers to predominantly work with us on a line mortar building which was destroyed by hurricane Other jobs may include work in the woodland, farm, cottages and Weeding, harvesting the vegetable garden. We have not done HelpX for a while as we had a terrible flood in 2014 and are just getting back on our feet and could really do with help.

We own a large old house near Newton Stewart, with semi-natural woodland and a large garden, which we are trying to improve all the time. Work includes helping us to eradicate rhododendron ponticum, a non-native invasive shrub growing in the woodland, which involves cutting and pulling out bushes, thus allowing native trees to grow, this is best done in winter; also some garden work, painting, tree planting and making bread. We are particularly interested in garden design, plant ecology and environmental issues, our garden has been featured in several magazines. We grow our own vegetables, eat our own meat, and do a lot of home-cooking. Accommodation is offered in our house, with your own bedroom and bathroom, eating meals with us. We like to eat well, with plenty of vegetarian food (and meat). We have wi-fi .
