We moved here in 2012 as a whole new venture, starting off in farming life that we didn't really know much about ! Having spent the last year and a half building up livestock and learning about Lambing, Farrowing and Hatching, we now need to work on improving the land and buildings to work better for us. We have a traditional Welsh farmhouse amongst hills in a beautiful valley, only 20 mins from the coast, with 20 acres of pasture, woodland and river. Having concentrated mainly on animals so far, we are keen to establish some form of produce growing to really become more self sufficient. We are also keen to improve our woodland and riverside areas to promote more wildlife and a place to relax !
We also really want to improve various buildings, with simple carpentry work being needed.
We keep Sheep, Pigs, Alpaca, Horses and raise poultry, waterfowl and pheasants, so there's always some animal care needed around the place !

We are two artists who bought the farm in 2015. It is a small-holding nestled in a stunningly beautiful and secluded Welsh valley popular with cyclists and walkers, just 20mins drive from the comely seaside town of Aberystwyth which has some excellent bars and restaurants. We are surrounded by ancient protected woodland, some of which, together with two streams and a river, is part of our land. The main house is a converted 18th century stone hay barn adjacent to a traditional medieval Welsh longhouse and two stone and iron outbuildings. Much sympathetic renovation is needed to bring these buildings to their full potential as accommodation and workspaces. Help with building, especially stone walls, raised beds and composting toilets would be much appreciated. Also some woodland management. We hope in time to be able to offer artists, musicians and writers residencies and host workshops for a number of different disciplines, from chainsawing to meditation. For the moment we are just... more inside

We live in the beautiful Tywi Valley, on the edge of a village. The countryside is very lovely around here and we are surrounded by wonderful places of historic interest, several castles (Wales has 400), the constantly changing and developing National Botanic Garden is only 2 miles away and Aberglasney 7 miles. It would be a pleasure to show off the wealth of beauty and culture we have here. The culture of Wales is quite different to that of the rest of the UK.
Five years ago we planted a young but good sized orchard, now it is in need of pruning, we also need some help putting a bit of order into the garden and fence and some hedges.
We also have bees, several hives, and are keen on keeping the environment as friendly as possible to wildlife. Goldcrests, wrens and nuthatches and woodpeckers are often seen and feed around the house.
Our spare room has two single beds, and I could make another room available, you will have your own bathroom. I love cooking and you will be well ... more inside

Kate and I are in our mid thirties, we live in beautiful Mid Wales with our amazing 1 year old son Rowan, our excitable dog Jonathan and our cat Simba. We rent our home which has a reasonable amount of land and though we haven't lived here long we plan to be here a while and have lots of ideas for different projects, we also own a 9 acre woodland with some friends which we are in the very early stages of developing into an Eco-Tourism project. We always seem to have loads to do and not enough time to do it. We have plans for bees, a small orchard, a river side chill out area, a tree house, etc, etc... We like to have a go at lots of things and we'd be particularly happy to hear from anyone with a particular skill/passion who wants a space to be creative.

Our main reason for wanting people is that we've done quite a bit of Helpx-ing in our time and loved meeting and sharing good times with people and would like to continue this even though we're aren't travelling at the ... more inside
